I would probably play DQ 11 if it was not turn based. Heck, with a 3D game with models and animations it would be super easy to just make it an alternative gameplay style you can select on the menu. You can still have the random encounters and alternative battle space, just make it so when I hit A I swing my sword and increase the number of enemies that spawn in an encounter.

Yeah. I was. Then I saw the completionist talk about it and apparently there are way more rpg mechanics in there then I’m comfortable with. Unless I interpreted what he said wrong.

Depends. If your biggest issue was the turn-based combat, it's not there. It's literally Dragon Quest x Dynasty Warriors.

Cinderace is the likely Gen 8 pokémon IMO. Yes, we don't have a Grass starter yet but Cinderace is already on the path towards being the most promoted and popular of the bunch via simply having a major role in the anime. Hell, even in the game it's placed directly in the center and is ahead of the other two.

Though maybe I'm wrong and it's Rillaboom, Inteleon, or Toxtricity.

I'd say Game Freak already pushing Toxtricity this early on to the point people are quick to bring it up after staters is proof it's what TPC would want Sakurai to pick

Have you done the postgame events that start in Puerto Valor? That gives Sylv a nice boost, though maybe not as much with the lineup you're using.

Then what is there? Because while turn based combat is the biggest issue, it's not the only one. I can tolerate others in small amounts, some of them even enhance the gameplay experience, like leveling up based on EXP, a wider selection of characters and abilities, and a much deeper story; but I draw the lines at skill trees and grinding because you have to be a certain level to do specific things.

I have done the postgame evemts except for the final boss.

I actually slowly started replacing him with the later trial bosses with Veronica, only calling him in for Ladies First, because his damage was falling off hard, and today, I decided to kick him off to the reserves. Which is probably gonna be the case for the Final Boss as well.

So like, can we not push the whole nonexistent "starter trio" quota when it comes to another Pokemon for DLC? About as irritating as the speculators who say that a female character should be a major priority for the Fighter's Pass.

That's fair. I find just pairing him with Jade and/or Veronica (and Serena but she should pretty much be in every lineup) and spamming Ladies First works pretty well. No one really does what those three do as well as they do, so may as well just hand them extra turns, and you can always give that turn to Serena if you really need healing, so extra versatility is there too.

But again, this is reliant on who else you have in your lineup, if you're getting more mileage out of the Hero and Erik than you are out of Jade and Veronica, it probably isn't worth.

Dynasty Warriors is inherently grindy and there are skill trees. If it's anything like Hyrule Warriors, it wont matter inside the main campaign.
