I don’t know. I got into this weird mental head space with the starters. Like, I don’t like the idea of putting them away in a box because they’re cute animals that should be running free. And your starter is supposed to be your constant companion and best friend. So the relationship is supposed to be even deeper. And i can’t bring myself to stop them from evolving because there’s no way that doesn’t hurt the Pokémon.

Basically, I’ve backed myself into a cot or with the starters because of my own mental hang ups and the aspect of the game that drew me to it in the first place.

Why would it hurt a Pokemon to not evolve it? The most popular Pokemon in the world has never evolved and he seems pretty happy.

He needs a rock to evolve. Most Pokémon change naturally when their level gets high enough. It’s a buildup and then release of energy. So forcing them to hold it in has to hurt them.

some Pokémon straight up don’t want to evolve, even Pokémon that evolve by level like Meowth. I’m sure you could find a way to work that into your little headcanon.

I don't think I agree with that logic, Pokemon continue to learn moves by levelling if you cancel evolution. Why would they continue to gain abilities if they were in physical pain?

Knowing Snake, I guess it has to do with some kinda perceived connection that Pokemon=IRL animals.

Nevermind the fact Pokemon are pretty much the replacement of animals in the Pokemon world(although I seem to recall IRL animals appearing once or twice? might be just me thou)
