Just finished the fourth gym in Shield. Gym mission was pretty fun and different; I liked it a lot!

Honestly, it isn't really a decent team with good coverage like I originally set out to do, but eh, I like all these guys and am having fun using 'em. Wouldn't mind hearing suggestions, though.

I am a bit curious as to how a DxM character would work. Like, I know Ridley got memed on for being big, but most games he's like 2 to 5 times Samus' size, so it was easy re-intergrate him into being into something like Bowser, pretty huge, but hunched over and more like the NES version. Ridley's the tallest in the game, but almost never stands up all the way.

But a Mech kind of has to have the appeal of being in a giant robot right? So it can't quite be like Ridley and Bowser can it?

Basically what I'm asking is if you guys would be okay with a Sentinel/Lost Planet Mech type of character. I would be, but Ridley and Bowser(and to a lesser extent, K.Rool)all also could have been the game's Sentinel sized character.

I'm not too sure how to solve that particular issue. If you play Tekken, you'd know bigger characters like Kuma or Gigas also get exclusive combos done on them because they are larger, thus there's tech that couldn't be done otherwise.

Eh, I think the main difference with Piranha Plant is that he was the, for a limited time, free character. It'd be a lot harder to sell Piranha Plant in a Challenger Pack for $5.99, as opposed to Joker or Banjo-Kazooie, especially alongside Packs filled with content entirely new to Smash.

I personally think there are some great First party fighters, and I certainly wouldn't be disappointed. However, I think the much more appealing prospect (for me, and potentially simply the concept of the game going forward) is continuing the crossover with more 3rd parties. I do think that while some of these first party candidates would be fun, it all comes down to the fact that they might not be considered in the first place, but also that precedent isn't on the side of popular side characters from 1st party franchises when it comes to Smash DLC.

Not really going to go deep into it, because it's not really an argument, but something that neither side will budge on. it just comes down to the vision of the game. I personally think they'll continue down the road of 3rd parties, because it's provided the most successful digital sales they've pretty much had ever. But, I could be wrong.

It'll probably just come down to that 6th fighter to set the tone. If you ask me, they'd want folks to know 1st parties are in contention in the next pass (then again, what we think is what the minority thinks, basically) and would therefore start with a 1st party. But if they start with another 3rd party I have a feeling they'd stick with more 3rd parties going forward, and I think if the "record" is a big deal for Sakurai to expand, they'll add as many new series to the game to achieve it.

All Star Smash 100 KOs has to be one of the most frustrating things ever

Wouldn't surprise me if less than 1% of the playerbase has ever done it with how insane it gets. I can't even get to 30 kos without taking 50% damage since the CPUs spawn mid attack at time.

Most I ever got was 43 with Mega Man. I got a lot of characters into the high 30's like Ridley, Ken, Samus and Ganon. So at best I can barely get to the 2000s before getting bopped.

Palutena, Link and Pit are all particularly annoying.

Hot take, as much as I love Dixie, my main investment with adding her to Smash would be adding a Tropical Freeze stage and more music.

Same honestly. I love the idea of a frozen jungle stage. Although I'd be surprised if characters from franchises that were already represented would get additional stages or music (Just look at Smash4). Especially Echo Fighters.

Man. I forgot how much I liked Pokémon. I thought I was falling off from the series, but after playing an ORAS Nuzlocke, Let's Go Eevee, and now Shield, I am falling in love with this series again! I have a feeling I'll probably feel this way about FE: Three Houses once I give that a shot somewhere down the road, too.

Can you reiterate what Verge said about MvC for me?

MUGEN DC characters have never been at the best crisp quality affordable. You could use Injustice resources, but I don';t know if they can translate to the game engine's 2d framework.

Essentially, he said it's a next-gen game (PS5 and Scarlet). He didn't offer any more background aside from a tidbit regarding Combofiend's departure to Marvel Games where apparently, he was important for both companies to discuss. I'll probably need to look up any other details, but frankly, there's likely not many things he's said.

As for your other question regarding the Fox ban, it should be over now. On top X-Men characters being in base MUA3, the Fantastic Four are already back in the comics, so there shouldn't be any tantrums holding Capcom back from using any of those characters.

Reminds me when I did the Ken 100 man Melee challenge with only Special moves. I got to 96 like 3 different times, but Richter would always snipe me.

All-Star's a lot harder though.

At least it isn't "Clear Classic on 9.9 without Losing a Stock" from Smash 4.

My family’s been broke since before I was born, but it finally seems like our luck is turning around. We’re getting a car, a bigger house, and who knows what else? In the spring or summer I’m thinking of getting a job at this one mall I hung around as a kid, not to mention college.

It just feels like something new is starting. It’s exciting.
