I've never actually played Castlevania, ever, can you explain your counterpoint to me?

Simon is the "classic", first Belmont. Soma Cruz is the last protagonist of the series in its original timeline and isn't even a Belmont, kind of like how the direction of the YGO anime has distanced from Kaiba's influence since Arc-V. However, Simon was the go-to outcry from fans, even though Castlevania was somewhat rebooted with Judgement. Ultimately, the recognizability is easier with older folks who may have fallen out of the series to not know who Playmaker is but still recognize characters such as Yugi and Kaiba.

-Geno (if you count him as first party since he's from a Mario game and all)
-Skull Kid
-Midna
-Tingle

-Edelgard/Byleth
-Lyn
-Rex/Pyra
-Elma
-Chibi-Robo
-Andy
-Isaac
-Chorus Kids or Karate Joe
-A new Retro character (Takamaru, Mach Rider, Lip, Etc. Etc.)
-Astral Chain character
-Daemon X Machina character

so on so forth there's a ton of characters to choose from and I'd argue a dozen or more of those characters listed would be hype/exciting like Isaac, Rex, Waluigi, Rex/Pyra, etc.


I never once said that we'd get a first party character as DLC so don't put words into my mouth.

I’m sorry, but none of those picks would be exciting for me. Not after what has transpired in this pass.

I try my best to see if there are any hype inducing first parties left for me. I really do. But when the top candidates are Dixie Kong? Captain Toad? Another Fire Emblem character? Side/spinoff characters? Characters from franchises which, I’m very sorry to say, but are pretty much dead in the water?

I understand all of these characters have their fans here, I really do. However, they simply wont give me that much hype at all. Not after Joker and Banjo, and the potential for my other favorite franchises getting in.

This isn't saying that the plant is bad, but generic enemies are no more significant than someone who is recurring and more of a character even if his recurring appearances are only in spinoffs. In fact you should hate both first-parties laughing at the ATs if some of these aren't significant and hype enough.

It really doesn't matter if a character is popular, unique, whatever. Plant is literally the embodiment of taking a design that on-paper sounds dumb, and making it work.

If we're getting a pass full of third-parties, I think we can spare some slots for a few first-parties.

Would have preferred an actual character versus a mook. I don't deny Plant is very unique and there was a lot of love put into it, but I would have rather had Petey Piranha or Bandana Waddle Dee--characters--versus a generic mook I give little thought about in Mario.

You really not gonna mention my boy Spring-Man? He'd be pretty neat. Him, Dixie, Elma and Isaac would be the only ones I'd care for out of the list. Maybe Chibi-Robo too, but he's straight up dead in the water now.

It's been a while since I've been super excited for the Pokemon Adventures/Special manga, but the new characters look like they'll be fun:

There were reports that the authors didn't receive early copies of Sword/Shield, so hopefully this is a sign that there was nothing to worry about. Also it seems the SM/USUM arc will have it's final chapter released within the next couple days with some huge spoilers already posted on Twitter:

Solgaleo/Lunala/Zygarde vs. Ultra Necrozma hype! Sun gets a job selling Ash hats. It's also nice to see Platinum make an off-panel cameo, with the potential implication that she is Moon's older sister (Japanese is a little ambiguous when calling someone onee-sama).

I find it hilarious that the B2W2 arc has now outlasted XY/ORAS/SM&USUM. There seems to only be a handful of chapters left for it with hints of Volume 54 finally releasing early next year with the start of the XY arc. HGSS/B2W2/XY/ORAS were all heavily rushed so hopefully for the first time in YEARS the authors will only have to worry about a single story arc and giving tankoubon releases to the ~10 volumes of content that have been held up.

In a couple months it'll surpass the Pocket Monsters manga (with the talking Clefairy) as the longest running adaptation of the games.
