Unless Riot's known for being really scummy, I kind of doubt that. LoL doesn't have that "annoying kids like it" reputation that Minecraft and Fortnite have. I find it kind of funny since Pokemon was kind of in a similar situation in its infancy. Worst is that the "EAT SPORTS" crowd gets involved. If they got anyone cool/up my alley, I'd be down for it though. I'd be willing to play their fighting game as it is anyhow, since I'm sure as hell not interested in a MOBA.
That's actually a somewhat accurate take on 2019 for games, believe it or not. Compare this year's games to 2018's and especially 2017's. 2019 looks empty by comparison. It honestly wasn't that great of a year for games unless you were a Switch owner. Sony and the PS4 in particular took a MASSIVE hit in quantity and quality especially when you compare them to last year (this year had Death Stranding and Days Gone, last year had GOW, Spider-Man, Detroit: Become Human and Dragon Quest XI at that point).
Agreed. Devil May Cry is easily in the Top 5 best games of the year. Three Houses, Mario Maker 2 and the RE2 remake are the only games that are on par with it. Death Stranding will likely win a lot of the technical awards (and agreed on Geoff and Kojima being very buddy buddy). The Outer Worlds might also get some stuff, but in terms of nominations, it will likely be Three Houses, Devil May Cry 5, Death Stranding and the RE2 remake (though it being a remake, this one could be unpredictable).
Also, I think Smash Ultimate is eligible for awards this year due to being too late last year to count for those nominations. If so, Smash Ultimate is better then almost every game this year if I'm being honest and this year just kept making it better.

I do question whether or not stuff like the Outer World will get stuff due to being out towards the end of the year, but if it's good, it should get the attention it deserves.
This year was fine with actual releases, looking at the games you mentioned, plus KH3, LM3, DxM and Astral Chain. But this is bound to happen as Sony and Microsoft are heading towards the end of their current consoles. Hopefully this'll mean some big guns are headed to the upcoming stuff to make them worthwhile.

Judging by them likely referring to Blizzard's controversy regarding China, I'm pretty certain they were referring to Riot being 100% owned by Tencent.

Idk if this was posted in the last 7 pages but uhhh
In a Nintendo Power interview about Pokemon Black & White's development, Junichi Masuda was asked if he ever thinks about cutting old Pokemon out of new games, "to make life easier."

There is no way that the cut was caused by anything other than constraints due to TPC's deadline. Masuda has been the ****ing worst for PR but it's not like he didn't know people would be upset

The Smash fanbase doesn't even begin to compare with the LoL one in terms of how bad it is, I quit that game solely because of how awful the community was, and that was like 7 years ago, I can only imagine it's even worse now. I think the people who harp on about how bad the Smash community is would get a real wake up call if they met the LoL fanbase.

Out of interest, what's so bad about it? I'm curious as MOBAs are a completely alien genre to me so I dunno if that would translate to the fanbase being toxic in a different way to, for example, a fighting game

How would you like someone screaming that they hope you, your mother, your grandmother, and her ancestor from 100 years ago go die and get ****ed by a nail ridden baseball bat on the regular?
All because you died once?
And no, this isn't an exaggeration lol.
Riot's had to take MULTIPLE leaps and bounds to try to curb toxicity, which hasn't done a damn thing.
And VALVe with Dota2?.........Well............... There's a loooot of angry Russian people who'll scream in Russian at you.
I was genuinly therrified that people, like Professor Pumpkaboo said, actually wanted this thing that looks like it came out of Satan's arse. Thank heaves this was erradicated.
I mean, at first when I saw the Alola starters, I thought I was not going to like any of them like with the previous generation, but then I remembered that I love seals/sea lions and I saw how CUTE Popplio actually is. Plus, I have always had a soft spot for underappreciated characters/underdogs that have a lot of potential, since they, for me, are amazing characters even if other say otherwise. I love to show my appreciation for them since others won't. Right now, Popplio is my #1 Starter. And when it comes to Galar, like I thought was going to happen in Alola, I don't like any of the Starters.
Oh, so they weren't very clear or specific?
OWO HOLY MOLLY! That's a LOT of merch you got there! It's amazing! From all the stuff you got, I love the Ridley amiibo ( Obviously), Rosalina, Wolf Link and Midna and the Squishy Metroid.
xD I only got Two Ridleys, Two Super Mario Rosalinas and Falco...and I think that's it.

The major difference between fighting games and MOBAs are that in the former you only have yourself to blame for failures (or your character, in which case you can always change mains), where as in the latter the easy solution is to just blame your teammates, instead of looking at yourself. And people do this all the time, not just in MOBAs, but really any other team based PvP game. Add to this that these games attract an enormous audience of varying ages, as well as the average length of one match being ~45 minutes, and you've got a really bad cocktail going.
