Hopefully if I get Shield on Christmas I manage to get Switch Online so a Sword owner here can give me Hydreigon.

I plan to make a Godzilla themed team.

My heels are bleeding at work. I need new work shoes badly cuz these ones I got right now are digging against my skin through even my plush socks.

Other than that, it's Pokemon time.

I never been the type to make my Pokemon competitive-worthy, battles on that level are just very boring to watch for me. I was playing on Pokemon Moon to do some Online Matches and I met with this player with a Ferrothorn equipped with a Rocky Helmet along with a Shiny Swampart (the show-off..).

That happened at my old job. It sucks. There should be in lines you can buy for your shoes to help pad them.

This game has by far the best healing animation in Pokemon Centers.

Means literally nothing, but I like it.

Don't buy Paralyz Heals and Antidotes. There's a dude in the first town that sells Pecha and Cheri berries for only 80. Very cheap.

Edit: whoops. Spastic posting. My bad.

exp share is fine but the exp gain needs tuning down to like 0.75x what it is right now

a team should not be evolving before the first gym

Tbh, I can see why people were upset over SwSh. They were definitely expecting more, and I can't fault them for that, being a mainline title for the Switch and all, a much more powerful console. And GameFreak has terrible PR and Masuda should never handle PR ever again.

With that said, I am glad to see that this game isn't the spawn of Satan, and is actually kinda good, as I did not what this game to fail in the slightest. As much as a crap show this period was, at least people are finding enjoyment out of it and perhaps lets GF show that there's still interest in a console Pokemon game. And even if they did an awful job at addressing it, they did state that they heard the criticisms of SwSh, so hey, maybe the series may be looking up someday.
Yeah, if people were thinking Sw/Sh were going to be legitimately bad games, they were always going to be far off the mark. I saw someone say that this was going to be Pokémon's Sonic 06 moment, which was always a wack prediction. I'm not getting the games, but I do hope that people enjoy them, I don't really care that much about impacting its sales or anything (and I don't think that's possible with something like Pokémon anyways), but it's more that for me personally I'd just rather spend both my time and money elsewhere (the price increase doesn't help here).

Like, I just finished Banjo-Kazooie today, a game I've been meaning to play for years, and that was a new and fresh experience for me, so for my next game I'd much rather pick up one of the many classics from my backlog that I've yet to play, instead of having an experience I've already had so many times before. I think this is why a lot of people were hoping for this game to be Pokémon's BotW moment, I'm far from the only one that's been playing these games for almost 20 years now, standard stuff like new Pokémon, a new region, a new once-per-battle mechanic isn't really a salespoint for me anymore, so while more of the same doesn't make for a bad game (because that same wasn't ever bad to begin with), I've already been there and done that many times at this point.

My point basically is that it's a perspective thing, fans who are newer to the franchise than I must be wondering what the hell all the uproar is about, and hey, even if you've played the series for two decades and you're still excited for the games, that's also cool, but I don't think those of us who were hoping for something different were in the wrong (if people were, it was more so in how they expressed themselves).

Tbh, I feel like the Battle System in Pokemon took a back seat to pretty much everything else. Like, world building and cool new mons are what people look in for new Pokemon games nowadays, and most of the time, Pokemon delivers REALLY well on those aspects, but the battle system has been the same for 20+ years, but nobody truly minds that tbh.

Like, not saying that one's a liar, but if you tell me that you buy Pokemon for the battle system... I won't believe you.

This feels like a monologue from Persona 5.

Alright, my first impressions on Pokémon Sword.

1) Nobody buys Pokémon for the visuals, and to be completely honest I think this first few hours of gameplay has me ignoring the haters at this point. Yeah, the trees are lower quality than maybe what people wanted. I don’t care. I get to run around in an area that feels actually lived in.

2) Exp thing is nice, and in my humble opinion shows the removal of tedium that Pokémon has always had. Granted, I think it’s not asking a lot for it to be turned off for those who seek a challenge, but I think it’s a good addition. However, the only negative is that I’m at the first city and I feel overleveled.

3) The dude who complained about length of the game...I’m at 2-3 hours of gameplay and not even at the first gym. I’m enjoying exploring for now, and I would think half the gameplay is fighting, catching, and exploring the wild area. Why anybody would speed run Pokémon is beyond me.

Seems to me that the complaints were all spastic and not making an impact on the current gameplay experience I’m having. This, now in hindsight, screams of , “Play the game before freaking out”, which is exactly what I expected to happen with this. This game wasn’t going to fail.

I hope they expand on stuff, like I think it’s weird that characters mouths are moving but there’s no sound for example.

I think folks need to remember that this series is mainly directed at kids. Kids don’t care about a low quality tree, a shadow that cuts in awkwardly, or frames per second (which I haven’t noticed whatsoever in terms of frame drops). Kids want to have fun catching new monsters, or getting that one they like that isn’t as new.

I don’t know. I feel the complaints were over the top. But I also expected that this would happen, because that’s the way the internet is.
