I think you're taking this too literally. No offense to their fans, but if that was Sakurai's goal was to please as many fans as possible, we wouldn't have Joker and Terry.

But at the same time I'd imagine there's a few he'd want to pick for himself otherwise most would be for the fans givenand(Japan) notably.

Geno didn't even make it to Europe until 2008 and wasn't even given any fanfare when the game with him was released so HELL no is he a top 10 Europe pick

Based on polls WW it seems if we take this to consideration that Sora, Crash and Steve might be likely candidates for DLC fighter 5 and beyond along with Lloyd, Geno, Dante, Shantae and Doom Slayer.

What fans want (according to polls) doesn't equal what fans are going to get - there's no denying that Sora's popular, but Disney could drive too hard a bargain

Besides, most of this pass wouldn't be guessable if you just went off standard fan polls alone - only Banjo fits the profile

Also as others have said, that Twitter survey wasn't exactly the most accurate of surveys

Yeah, many people on the Discords server I’m in generally agree that the character lists being shared on Twitter right now don’t have the best research behind them and have a number of oddballs present (Gundam or Geno in Europe for example).

It wouldn’t mean anything worth either since Sakurai in the end has the bigger say on who gets in.

If this is the case then only ones I see possilibity occurring are Sora, Steve and Geno (If Spirits don't deconfirm which we still don't know).

Though with the case of Sora only thing preventing him could be Disney themselves.

We shouldn’t be looking for “only characters who will happen”, since history has shown that whenever the Smash fandom takes that mentallity it backfires at big scales.

Rather than that, we should take an open mind approach. Consider many kinds of picks in general, do researches on certain characters or companies and what have they experienced with Nintendo in general, take into account how received a character tends to be received around the world overall, check recent partnerships Nintendo has done.... all also while preparing ourselves potentially for the unexpected.

It’s more about taking in mind many scenarios while always considering that even stuff outside of them could happen.

That's an absurd number of characters, both as third party and DLC. I think it's an extremely unlikely scenario to ever happen. We are talking about over 24 guests as post release content.
