To be fair, I don't think any of the Mishimas are particularly wholesome or noble.

I'd be fine with any of them, but Jin's the guy I use the most in Tekken. So I'd prefer him over the others.
Jin: By far the most morally upstanding of the Mishimas and could even be argued to be a decent person
Also Jin: STARTS WORLD WAR 3, LEADING TO COUNTLESS LIVES LOST, INCLUDING THE WIFE OF A SPANIARD THAT IS NOW OUT FOR HIS BLOOD AND THE WHOLE FAMILY OF THE REPORTER OF TEKKEN 7.

Hello, I'm back again!

I have a legitimate question about the perceived "rules" are for character inclusion into the came. With certain characters such as Cloud, Ridley, K. Rool, Joker, etc. this time around, what are the current set of "rules", if any, that are still standing? It's been an awesome yet rocky time with all the "never-smashers" as I dubbed them being added with mixed reactions, so should we even still HAVE rules? It's looking more and more like if Sakurai wants them in, they get in.
The only rule that has ever held any real water was that the character has to be heavily associated with video games, but even then Sakurai has changed his mind on things before.

Fan rules have been being broken for as long as Smash speculation has been around. The community needs to stop thinking in terms of absolutes (this character definitely is/isn't in) and start thinking in terms of probabilities (this character is likely/unlikely).

You must originate from an Video game other than that every one else is fair game. Edit sniped

Yeah, he started off as a quiet bro. Then they had him turn heel to get rid of the Devil Gene.

Of course by the end of T7, They set him up as being a hero again because like 12 people liked Lars.

I tend to agree with this, especially as a lot of my "I have to be realistic, there's no WAY" characters have been added in the last 2 games, but I was just curious if there was a new "ruleset" out there or not, with there being a lot of "THEY GOT IN?!"s recently.

I always thought Jinpachi was the a pretty nice guy from his backstory. Ya know, before the whole "dying and getting possessed by a demon" thing because your son took over your company and then killed you.

Nah, not really.

Even before Smash 4 there was no "official" ruleset. Most rules have been highly debated in the past anyway.

Some people still cling onto the "has to have appeared on a Nintendo system" rule but let's be real here, they did not add Joker just to advertise for that forgettable Etrian Odyssey crossover.

I agree on that point, but is it still considered unrealistic to ask for characters like (and these are just examples, I'm not asking if THESE SPECIFIC characters will get in) a full fledged undertale rep, Steve from Minecraft, Crash Bandicoot, or Tracer to get in? Or is it now pretty much considered a free for all?

Mm I guess we probably won't see Undertale as DLC with the mii costume. Assist trophies and maybe spirits probably aren't safe bets for the time being either, but they'll be up in the running for Smash 6 I'd say. And besides, one could make the case that assist trophies are still possible for the second wave since that wasn't likely to have been decided upon ahead of time.

Steve/Crash/Tracer are fair game, I'd say. Not likley but not impossible.

Really though, who cares if they're likely? Support who you want to support, and remember not to take speculation too seriously. It's no fun if you let people tell you who you can or can't hope for.

Steve, Crash and Tracer are fairly popular picks right now, and can appear, but they're nowhere near guaranteed (no-one is).

No Undertale rep, otherwise they would've released the Sans costume alongside it

It's pretty much a free-for-all at this point, at least until Vergeben #73212 comes along and leaks something.

I wanna strangle whoever made online matches a forced thing to finish all the challenges.

I'm autistic, and my reaction times are half that a normal person. It's frustrating as hell getting 3-0d constantly with nothing I can do about it

Wait what is that a thing?

...Doesn't Mew2King have Aspergers?

My reaction times have always been half that of a normal persons.

I just get destroyed no matter what I do, and I cant react fast enough.
Well the reason I took interest was because I have autism myself and I had never heard of that.

I'm starting to read more into it and it seems it's more accurate to say that people with autism tend to struggle with "processing speed", which makes it hard for us to take a lot of information in at once.

As often the case with autism, it effects each person differently it seems, so I guess it makes sense that it might effect your competitive abilities while not having much of an effect on mine (and certainly not Mew2Kings), so maybe I shouldn't have been surprised. It definitely effects me in other aspects at life - I'm terrible at following instructions or conversations in real life, which are also supposed to be results of a slower processing speed.

I had a crazy night but it's not something I can talk about with the children present. But. It was good, with potentially more good things happening later!

Been feeling more confident and outgoing once I got on my health kick. Apparently I can charm people I just met without even knowing it.

Of course, when I try to charm them, it doesn't work.

...I think that's all the detail I can give. we need 18+ smashboards

Can't believe you played Fortnite and put your bed next to someone else's bed in Minecraft, there's kids here, for shame!

imagine telling someone in march 2018 that banjo's playstyle in the next smash brothers game would consist, about 75% of the time, of ****ting out grenades towards your opponent

I thought this was interesting to look up: I wanted to see how much I've played the Fighters Pass characters, so I combined the offline/arena and quickplay data, and voila:

Joker: 1:51 (35 battles)
Hero: 0:05 (2 battles)
Banjo & Kazooie: 2:39 (53 battles)

Pretty telling that Banjo already has a lead over Joker despite being out for what, three days?

I also ran through all their Classic Modes and used Joker and Banjo for their Spirit Boards. (RIP Hero)

Now that I've settled into B&K being my co-main, I assume I will log in several dozen hours into them by the end of Ultimate's life cycle. A shame about Hero, I suppose, his stage isn't even that great (while Mementos and Spiral Mountain are god tier), but 2/3 ain't bad. Doubt I'll play Terry much, but his stage could have great music to make it worth it.

For spending $18 after gold coins, it's not a bad value. The Spirit Boards alone probably make it worth it. I'm anal about having all Smash characters/stages even if I don't use them much, so I wonder how much I'll be playing the post-FP DLC characters when I'm basically settled into K. Rool and Banjo.

Speaking of... for comparison, the King's stats:

King K. Rool: 85:45 (1971 battles)

It's kinda hard to appreciate all of the characters when there's 80 of them. Like, I was really excited for Snake to come back, but between all of the shiny newcomers and my old main Cloud, I've barely touched him. I didn't even think I would end up co-maining Banjo until he came out.

I just hammered the online challenges. They also only give gold as rewards so you're not missing out on anything if you don't complete them.

Imagine saying to them that Banjo is actually a snake and not a bear.

I'd believe it. Grenade eggs were the only viable projectile he had in Banjo Tooie.

Is it sad that I want a River City/Kunio-kun character in the game just so I could get a remix of The Hunt from River City Girls in Smash?

(Honestly it's kind of a legacy series anyway...)

Ah yes. One of my favorite beat em up series.
