I'd rather not have "Big Brother" watching and silencing me.

But on another note, anyone familiar with how games on the 360 work? If i were to buy a game digitally and later get it physical, can I still use my old save? Google ain't helping much, only showing results for the Xbone and PS4 (for some reason). Nothing about the 360.

You know, for what it’s worth...when we talk about Smash and adding Nintendo characters there’s...64 total Nintendo Fighters, going over 70 if you count each Koopaling.

I get it, like, we haven’t gotten a DLC character from a Nintendo series but like...the whole idea that Sakurai needs to “throw Nintendo fans a bone” is...odd.

Not every character ever will be playable in Smash. I imagine I won’t get every character I want. In a perfect scenario I’d get Rex, Edelgard, Astral Chain, Dante, Leon or Jill, Heihachi, Doom Slayer, Crash...there are others. But the fact remains that’s its simply not going to happen.

I just think it’s ironic that Nintendo fans think there’s too much of a 3rd party focus when there’s basically 70 characters you could play as, and companies/series that aren’t in Smash get ONE (1) character. This is especially interesting when it’s just addressed not as add a “Fire Emblem character” or “Pokémon character” but First party. Like any 1st party will do.

I just find it interesting.

I don't know what's funnier: Seeing fans get upset at third-party inclusions they don't know about, or getting upset that their most-wanted characters "deserve" to be playable with a matching ego to boot.

But if you think Rex doesn't have a shot at being playable in the postseason of the Fighter's Pass, then your opinion is automatically wrong.

I'm going to honest, if you're reaction people trashing on a character in Smash, regardless of how stupid said trashing can be, is to go full 1984 and say free speech must be made non-existant, I think you need some well overdue break time from the Internet. And maybe a bit of professional help.

People wouldn’t say or think such awful things if the US for example did a better job with regulation of companies, did something to fix wealth inequality, and reform the education system so that students were learning things of value about the world around them.

Racism, sexism, and several other toxic ills in a society are based on what I view to be ignorance. With fewer ignorant people having the the opportunity to exploit others, problems can start to fix themselves.

1984 is not the way to go though. Free thought is what drives the world forward.

I’m not just talking about these people. I’m talking about everyone who spreads vitriol online. The bigots, the racists, the transphobes, that flat-earthers, everyone from Fox News to infowars. The internet needs a mass weeding.

Whether we argue about perceptions of characters is neither here or there right now.

First of all, any political extreme is wack. Not just the right, but the left as well. This is why I ignore both sources like CNN and Fox, like BuzzFeed and also infowars. There's one place that I'm willing to go: Allsides.com, because they look at literally all sides. I get that Fox and Infowars have issues, but it's not all restricted to the far-right. Far-left is wack as well. This is important for figuring out what the appropriate actions are to take.

And most importantly: we do NOT need a little "1984" right now. Good God, no. This is extreme. And knowing that you aren't the joking type, I'm going to take this at face value.

To summarize what I'm saying: being extreme isn't going to solve problems. It's going to make more of them and cause collateral damage. Check all sides, stay objective and unbiased, and carefully think through everything... literally everything. I don't give a crap what you believe, but no matter what don't resort to extreme statements.

To clarify: I'm not angry at you. I'm more nervous for you because there are a lot of layers to this situation, really.

I actually use a Media Bias Chart with my students when doing research, and it shows where each source lies in the political spectrum.

Basically, while almost any source has some sort of bias, there are those that don’t let that get in the way of facts. Interestingly enough, CNN is one of those sources that is meh, but Fox News...yeah. Fox News is basically just a nice Infowars.

As in, they lie. A lot. They start controversy over nonsense, I know this especially because of my girlfriends grandfather. He echoed things discussed on Fox News, and it was the most out of context argument I’d ever heard from someone.

Because it's a slippery slope.

Who decides what is hurtful? If me saying "the world is round" is going to offend flat-earthers, it should be. What if government decides critiquing them hurts people and contrarians must get their free speech right evoked?

Hate speech should get punished, but beyond that? Sticks and stones. You can't compare words with something that's only useful for killing.

I've used Media bias charts before myself.

NPR's one that I'm cool with. When I have to pick specific news sources past just looking at the compilation on Allsides, I typically do Wall Street Journal (main news section mainly) and BBC, with looking at NPR and PBS on occasion as well.

There's such a thing as an unhealthy coping mechanism. Me inflicting pain upon myself or others would be an example of that.

But this? I don't even know if I have proper words for it if it's real.

All I'll say is that I really think his friends and family should've taken him to get help sooner rather than encouraging this behavior.
