Yeah, I think the main appeal of Smash is the characters. Like sure, you could have this amazing character that can do certain things that nobody else can. But at the end of the day, the actual character bears the largest appeal.

That said, outside of 3rd parties, I’d argue newer Nintendo characters will have better shots at playable. For example, ARMS, Xenoblade, and new Fire Emblem and Pokémon characters would have a good shot.

I’ll even be honest in validating the argument that folks want to play as characters, considering I myself don’t just want a “Three Houses Rep”. If it were my pick, I want Edelgard, if that makes sense.

Though I think for the health of the series, it’s been good to have a such a variety of movesets come with the characters themselves.

It’s also a good thing that not every pick has been the most popular. At least I think, because otherwise it would be very, very boring waiting for these new games.

Granted, I probably won’t be speculating for the next Smash unless no cuts continues, or they’re within reason.

I can vouch for this, I followed both UMvC3 and MvCi and in both cases Firebrand was a common target for 'why is this character in instead of X or Y?' It wasn't fun to read, particularly since I liked Firebrand both from his games and for his playstyle.
Can't wait to see those if a Breath of Fire character does get in a Vs. Capcom game at some point. Too bad Nina never became a thing in MvCi after being rumoured. But it's not surprising to see them stop after the first couple characters due to MvCi's poor presentation. Now it's another waiting game and that's if any BoF characters are even looked at after Breath of Fire 6.

Although I will admit that one of the good things about Breath of Fire 6 was Ryu's design. Now that was a fantastic design for him compared to his BoF 5 look.

I hate you all.

Have a lovely day.
Oh, dude. At first I totally read that as "I hope you all. Have a lovely day." And I was like "that's weird punctuation, but what a sweet sentiment."

Then I realized the malicious intent of the second word and thought "Yeah, fair enough."

If we can avoid turning this into an argument, can you guys help me settle a debate I had with my friend?

Keeping it short and sweet, my friend dislikes WFT and PP. He thinks they were a waste of a slot and that they shouldn't be on the roster in the next game if we get cuts. I told him that I could understand why he doesn't like them, but both characters are really unique, hence why I think they should stay. He told me that it doesn't matter because basically no one uses them anyway and that we should prioritize characters based on their popularity, both inside and outside of Smash.

So whenever we get a relatively unpopular "okay, but why?" character added, wouldn't you agree that they deserve to keep their spot if they ended up being really unique, even if no one asked for them or if they rarely get used? If we absolutely had to make cuts, these two aren't where I would start.
ignoring everything, I do rarely see any WFT or PP online whenever I play

I've been digging into Nintendo secrets for a while, and I can sense the power in this image.

Something else I’m thinking about, but Three Houses:

In Black Eagles, after the time skip and the battle ends up where Edelgard and Dimitri face off...

Basically, Rhea retreats to Fhirdiad. Makes sense, considering The Holy Kingdom of Fhaergus is tied to the Church, or at least loyal. Dimitri sees Edelgard as against his values, in addition to being against the Church.

Rhea plans to join with Dimitri to support in this incoming epic battle. Rhea shows up to “back up” Dimitri, but then retreats with all of her forces after Byleth defeats her. This leaves Dimitri alone, like he has always felt, save for Dedue.

Basically Rhea used Dimitri and Fhaergus, even though Dimitri feels that he’s doing the right thing. Edelgard then puts him out of his misery as he never receives the revelation that Edelgard wasn’t actually responsible for the Tragedy of Duscur.

I felt bad for killing Dimitri. Necessary evil for the storyline, and I see why Edelgard did it (she basically had to), but Dimitri really is just a tragic character in BE. Even Edelgard herself thinks so.

Then after abandoning their leader and retreating again to the place which granted her safety, she ****ing burns the place to the ground.

Dimitri is completely taken advantage of and is never given closure. That which he believes is true and tangible, his faith, also abandons him as he nears his death.

Basically, **** Rhea.

Speaking of which, imagine that the events of Five Nights at Freddy's were real, and everyone knew of the events that happened at that place, but instead of Freddy and the gang, the animatronics are Mickey Mouse and his friends. Would you ever look at Disney the same way again knowing what those animatronics did?

EDIT; It is not just to you, Noipoi, but everyone else, too.

So like, is there any reason why the DQ 11 songs in Smash are noticeably worse than the other DQ songs? Like I legit kinda like the ones from DQ 3 and 4, the ones from 8 are alright, but the ones from 11 are awful.

If I had to make a guess, games like DQ3 and 4 relied on more primitive technology forcing them to make simple compositions that would carry through through SNES audio, but DQ8 and DQ11 relied on fully orchestrated scores which, when reduced into midi format, sound significantly worse.

But that's just a guess.

Really excited about the new Breaking Bad movie. As someone who was a little "eh" on the finale, this has a lot of potential.

That and the fact that Sugiyama is getting pretty old. It's not uncommon for people to claim his quality is slipping with age.

Finish this sentence.

You’ll never be a master taco salesman if you-
You’ll never be a master taco salesmen if you give into the existential dread that pervades all life and continues to make all of humanity question it’s own ethics and meaning. Do you sell the taco, or does the taco sell you? What even is a taco, if a white man such as myself is selling it? I’ll tell you what it is, it’s a miserable pile of shredded or ground meat packed into a tortilla of soft or hard origin that brings a variety of flavors that contribute to a greater explosion of deliciousness in ones mouth.

But nothing, not even the delicious flavor of the tacos I sell, will absolve the pain that is existing in a world made for the otherwise straightened spines, for the two kidneyed, for the clean shaven.

To that I say, “For the Empire!”, and dab furiously on the haters.

Goddamn I want tacos now.
