Oh, I can say that you DON'T specifically need to have a "particular" style, you can adapt to many, like I do in my case. That is why I always try new styles or invent one that I feel goes alright with the drawing. Because if I had ONE style for everything, let's say, a colorful, pastel and cute looking style, I wouldn't be able to draw something that has more dark themes in it, I mean, I could do changes, but I honestly don't like to stick to one simple style all the time, really. That is why I am glad I got motivated by a friend to try out to come as close to Sugimori's art style to challenge myself. You can take elements of many styles you find interesting and make your own out of it (That means, not straight copying one and CLAIM it's yours, like the person that is tracing my art is doing with how I draw Ridley, that came from years of practicing and taking inspiration from a few artists, plus Nintendo's own work, adding my own flare to it).
