with all the hero hate and stuff cause of the RNG
if banjo had something similar, maybe an infinite combo or a zero to death, do you think people would be parading on the streets for a ban too, or would they not do it because it's banjo
The competitive community doesn't really give a damn who the character is, he might get defended a lot by people, especially the people in between that casual and competitive crowd, but that's also currently the case with Hero. I doubt Banjo will have anything too crazy since there hasn't been a truly reliable infinite since Brawl (maybe the ZSS one in Smash 4 at launch, but that's about it), but even if he were to hypothetically have as crazy a toolkit as someone like Smash 4 Bayo, we've already seen they don't ban characters on those grounds, even Brawl Meta Knight didn't stay banned. Hero's case is pretty unique because of how he's designed, it's not that he's way too strong, it's more so the age old debate on how competitive something can be when RNG plays a significant part in nullifying skill, it's why a lot of people can't take something like Hearthstone E-Sports seriously.
Personally I think something has to prove itself to be very detrimental to a game's competitive scene before we even begin discussing a ban, and that takes at minimum a year before we can properly conclude imo. I didn't even agree with the Meta Knight ban in Brawl, because I think the game would have suffered even more if ICs were the top tier character, at least with Meta Knight you had to actually play the game.
