When Smash 4 first released, Charizard hadn't fully clicked with me yet. I loved the lizard but I was mostly playing Dark Pit back then with some Lucina to the side.

Then one time while playing Smash Run, I decided to give him another whirl and I had a blast. So I kept playing Smash Run over and over again with him. Next thing I knew I had sold my soul to him and my DP/Lucy/Jr usage dropped drastically.

So yeah, Smash 3DS was cool with me. It's weird to think that in an alternative timeline I could have been a Dark Pit loyalist though.

Another regular hot take I've had with Smash 4, was how even though the newcomers were okay...
You really can't deny that the way Sakurai announce some of the characters were really a bit leaning to marketing, such as revealing Olimar when Pikmin 3 was released (The game is 6 years old now, wow...), Luigi was announced right after Luigi's Mansion 2 Dark Moon, Rosalina was announced after they showed her in Super Mario 3D World and Mario Kart 8. Diddy Kong was revealed shortly after Donkey Kong country Tropical Freeze... and of course the most notorious, the FE characters... I am not like those who gets salty whenever a FE characters gets revealed but yeah, FE getting so many rep was because not only FE was the phoenix title but how Sakurai was bias torwards the series. Same with Xenoblade... the inclusion of Shulk was really Nintendo trying to push their new JRPG IPs since they found out how JRPGs can get attention if they are in Smash, with FE being the example, which didn't pay off at first, but then later on it did.

Not getting the Wii U, therefore I only play Smash 3DS the most as well, and yeah the circle pads were easy to broke on the first regular 3DS models but the 3DS XL do broke too. New 3DS was where I noticed how sturdy the circle pad was, it felt like the New 3DS line was designed specifically for Smash 3DS, because you know... it loads the game faster, C stick numb, supports Amiibo/NFC, better web browser etc.

To me, playing video games for the graphics is like watching porn for the plot.

And I definitely don't worry about the graphics of Pokémon.

I don't know how you can come up with that analogy lol, but man pretty good.
But yeah, it has been an old saying of how gamers nowadays care more of graphics than gameplay, not to mention care more about the stories more than gameplay argument...

I mean, I don't care much about Pokemon graphics too, I was bothered on how you have some actually comparing the game to Xenoblade Chronicles 2... a totally different kind of game.

Yep, Ruby. I don't watch that show though. But I think art like this is pretty cool. Wish Killer Instinct got to be there too though.

So..... outside of Nintendo directs there are no potential times for new reveals for the rest of the year. And for me at least, nothing cool was revealed at either event and both actively depressed me.....

2019 sucked. I really hope 2020 does better. But given the history of the dev team I don’t have much hope.

It's subjective because it really comes to what you are expecting.
Unless you are mentioning to certain games like Pokemon... then yeah I get that.
But 2019 there's many great hits, like Astral Chain, DQ XI S, Mario Maker 2, and man good games so on so forth.
Even third party games doesn't look too shabby, we've got Cuphead this year and Outer Worlds, game from a Microsoft studio.

It's understandable and unfortunate taht 2019 sucks for you, but it would be better if you explain what do you want exactly.
