To be fair, it could be because Project M is a mod, whereas SSF2 and Crusade are fangames.

That's what I believe too.

Not to mention, unlike Flash 2 & Crusade, sometimes I see Project M as a "threat" to actual Super Smash Bros. sales (who knows how many times I've seen people on SmashBoards posted that they have no interest in Smash 3DS or Wii U when they already have Project M).

I actually find it weird for this because, unlike Project M, Nintendo has shown no grievance against either Super Smash Flash 2 or Super Smash Bros. Crusade (you can freely talk about those games on Miiverse without any mods getting onto you). It's nice they're both going to APEX but I stinks if I can't watch their streams like I've done in the past.

It might have something to do with the "Durr hurr Project M is the superior game" "durr hurr Nintendo should learn from Project M" "durr hurr Project M got it first" people.
