You're totally wrong for sm.Metroid Fusion is one of the most linear Metroid games out there (not to mention it's pretty text-heavy because of the conversations with Samu's computer), never seen a speedrun of that game but it must be pretty hard. Super Metroid and Metroid Zero Mission are prob way easier to speedrun because thare are a bunch of ways to exploit the game.
I watched a weekly show about speedrunning once on twitch and there's just SO MUCH things to learn that are ETREMELY hard.
For example, there's an exploiut used in sm where the speed booster is only checked each 80 frames. This means that if you just input dash after 80 frames 4 times in a row, you have speed booster activated.
How to be frame perfect?
A guy had to learn using a metronome he would play in his head.
I'm serious, there's so much that can go wrong it's in fact not even uncommon in races to see someone quit because he died.
It's REALLY unforgiving to speedrun.
HOWEVER, sm will ALWAYS be imo one of the mos entertaining game to watch speedruns. Do you know speedrunslive? It's a site when speedrunners do races every day and it has pretty good record system using IRC, but is also used to gather streams of speedcrunners on twitch. On each firday night, the sm community holds a friday nightrace...THIS IS O FREAKING FUN TO WATCH!!!! It's really teasing you if someone's going to die and sometime, you have the feel you see 2 streams playing at the exact same way.....that actually happened last AGDQ.
