Seriously, before Sonic was confirmed, there were many that didn't care wether or not he was in, but then these people either became Sonic haters or lovers. This annoys me, because there is no reason to complain about a character being a Brawl. If they are there, and you don't like them, then don't use them, or make them your punching bag if you really wish to. I mean, I don't like Ice Climbers and didn't like seeing them back, but I don't go everywhere and complain about the Ice Climbers whenever possible (this is what Sonic haters do about Sonic most of the time). I'm not saying anyone has to like Sonic, or any other character, but no one has to complain. It gets more annoying than a fanboy.

Its because of the Mario vs Sonic crap, they still have not noticed Sega and Nintendo are friends.

There are plenty of characters that have every right to be hated if they're added. (I'm looking at you generic pokemon.) Mostly because there are games that are more deserving. This obviously isn't the case for Sonic. People will hate him just because they can. Don't let it bother you. Patiently wait for Brawl's release and start the Sonic onslaught on all the naysayers.

It's all tied up in the issue of the quality of his games since Adventure. I personally like most of them, but that's not important. What is important that a big chunk of Brawl's demographic honestly finds Sonic, and most things related to him, to be unbearably annoying.

Which is fine. Their opinion is their opinion. Forums are places for opinons to be shared, both positive and negative. They cannot effect your enjoyment of the game if you don't let them, and I have yet to see this particular part of the boards flooded with Sonic-Hater flametardism.

Which is actually kind of odd. You'd think the haters would be itching to get back at us for all the flooding Sonic fans did on Brawl-affiliated forums over the summer.

*WHACK* Bad Frankenstein! Don't give them any ideas!

Truth.

A lot of nintendo fan boys seem to have some sort of grudge against sonic... but the time has long since past that Sega and Nintendo were competitors.

Sonic has a HUGEEEEE fan following, perhaps the biggest Sega Icon of all time, and he has every right to be in this game, regardless of what people think.

It has always been a dream of mine to see sonic and mario in the same game, and i CANT WAIT to see it in action!

I know i am not the only one with this sentiment.

I've seen that some people don't like Sonic because a majority of his fans are annoying fanboys who are not very mature. I can understand this, I get very annoyed by fans of Halo, but that doesn't stop me from enjoying the game. It just seems that people have to learn to put up with those fans that give Sonic a bad name.

I'm a Sonic hater.

And to tell you guys the truth, I don't know why. It might be how annoying popular he is, even though I've always considered his games trash (excluding the ones on the original Sega, those are pretty good).

Well, that's not fair of me. I've hardly played any of his games. My friends tried to get me hooked on Sonic fighters, and it went downhill from there.

It's not that I hate him, it's just he's an annoying little hedgehog that runs fast. And he has a tv show that's for kids. He's dumb in other words, lol.

Well, first of all, half the Sonic fanbase hates Sonic X as well. So don't lump everyone together there. (I didn't like it, personally.)

As for 'Just an annoying little hedgehog that runs fast. . .' Well, annoying is a matter of opinion. But he does a hell of a lot more than run fast. He can slice through steel with his quills, he fights like Bruce Lee stuck in fast-forward, he makes pressure differences, he defies gravity on a regular basis, his reflexes move faster than a time machine, he's been known to manipulate fire and darkness as well as wind. . .

Besides, even if his only skill was moving fast, so what? If you're imaginative enough, you can do pretty much anything by moving quickly. Hell, an object that vibrates quickly enough can move through solid matter. And momentum is Mass multiplied by Velocity, so speed is the dominant factor in doing physcial damage for any object (Why do you think bullets hurt?). So there's nothing wrong with being 'just' a fast little hedgehog.

Not that dumb at all, really.

I'm not a huge fan of the later sonic games myself, but it doesn't take away from the fact that Sonic is awesome. I personally preferred the comics and the old Saturday morning cartoon from the 90's. (The best IMHO). Even the cheesy and light-hearted weekday one wasn't that bad. Sonic Underground....while not the best had it's good point. Though it was painfully obvious that Jaleel White (Steve Urkel) voiced all three of the hedgehogs. Sonic X....I dunno, I had mixed feelings on it. Sonic the movie....VERY kiddish but not bad considering. Not like Mario hasn't had bad games and series either, though. *shrugs* Sonic has a following for everything he does. Whether original fans like it or not. He's just popular. If Haters are gonna hate, let them. I agree with the fact that he's a free punching bag if you want. Personally....the Melee Mario made me dislike him. Too flipping cocky. (Keep in mind my first time playing Melee I pretty much started with level 7-9 computers, lol)

It really is a Sega vs. Nintendo thing. This may sound condescending, but you younger folks can't see it like those of us who grew up in the NES/Genesis days. There was serious console pride back then, on both sides. You can't just declare the Cold War over and expect us to hug the Ruskies!

So you hate Sonic being in Brawl because you don't like his games that have nothing to do with Smash games? And Sonic's Wii games are some of the best games he's appeared in since Sonic Adventure (that didn't suck when it came out because it was one of a kind, but then they made all the other 3-D sonic games exactly like it so it wasn't as great). Personally, I like Sonic's 3-D games, even if they aren't as fast as he is in 2-D games, he is still faster than most other games out there. Also, if anyone's going to complain about the crappy show, I would like to bring up the Mario, Zelda, Kirby, Pokemon, and F-Zero shows. They are not much better.

Meh, I was neutral party all the way thru, and no "quotes" or "proof" can change that.

although, he does seem like a pretty Mid-Low tier fighter. Give me a few good reasons he shouldn't reach Top second or better, Sonic fans!

Most haters don't even see past their own logic! I mean come ON, you have a free punching bag.
oh how i disagree, I think sonic is pretty cool and will be one of the best characters in the game. sonic is anything BUT a punching bag. punching bags stay still. sonic will be ziping around all the time. you will try to hit him but he just zips out of the way. great character for hardcore gamers. worst dang character for noobs who dont any of his moves. in other words. not many of thhe sonic fanboys. how ironic.

ok, sure. with his speed you can pull of a bunch of combos in a matter of seconds, devistating your opponent. when you try to hit him if the guy is experienced enough he will easily avoid your attacks. he can also make great recoverys when you try to knock him off. what more could you want?

To me it seems like people can't let go if the ooooold rivalry between Nintendo and Sega. C'mon people, it ended years ago, get over it.

If not that, then as some of you said, it could be his popularity, or how trashy some of Sonic's recent games have been (Apparently a dose of "Bad-2D-to-3D-jump-itus" that took a while to kick in after the first two 3D Sonic games). Whatever the case is, the behavior of n00bish Sonic-haters is frustrating.

I personally never had anything against Sonic, and I'm a Nintendo fan. Hell, I liked his games on the Genesis. Easy to play and really simple controls made it enjoyable.

So yeah, I'm basically neutral, but I do have my complaints. Ice Climbers for example, I never saw coming, and I didn't find them very good because I can't fight well with 'em. Of course, I'm not complaining about them either about coming back.

All I can say now is... Go Sonic! :D

I once had a quote in my sig that said "All people who don't want Sonic in Brawl are people who still get nightmares from the Segtendo War and are too full of themselves to say Sonic will Kick *** in Brawl. But maybe I should have said the 3D sonic game haters. Most of them didn't want Sonic in because Sonic's games were not doing so well. Which you should say: "Would you have wanted Sonic if those 3D games were actually good?" that statement alone can seperate the true haters from the hurt fans.

Hmm, I haven't followed Sonic games that much, but I'd have to say that I'd be a lot more welcoming of Sonic if I had liked his games.

Oh, and just so everyone's clear, I don't think poorly at all of people who like Sonic. I won't be playing him, and I'm just not very excited to see him in the game.

That is exactly there are True Hedgehog haters (Those who were purely on Nintendo's side from 1991-2001) and the Hurt Sonic fans (Those who hate him for diappointing them for paying $50 for a game they didn't like when advertisement and facts on the success of Sonic's earlier games has fooled them. These take up most of the Sonic haters I believe).

That's a writhing sea of weird you're trying to define, SonicMario. There's almost as many ways to hate Sonic as there are to love him, and the fanbase knows each and every one of both of them. A lot of them would consider themselves well-to-do if Sega made Shadow their go-to guy (They must be pitied. From a distance, you don't want to catch their germs.), and half the fanbase never does anything but complain and plan petitions that never happen.

Go to a Sonic forum, and you'll find a sizeable camp of people who don't want him in brawl. Stay here, and you'll find a veritable sewer colony of console warhorses and honest haters (Like I said, there's plenty of reasons to hate Sonic, so I don't look at them on the same level as the former.). It's enough to make a fanboy depressed, isn't it?

Then we remember that Sonic's already in Brawl, metaphorically shoving his shiny red shoe up the *** of every whiny troll who refuses to buy the game because he's here now. Thank you Sonic, for keeping that branch of *******ry out of our Wifi.

Well, I think most of us can agree upon the fact that Sonic fits in Brawl way better than Snake does.

Also, I'm always willing to give Sonic another chance. I don't know how many other characters or franchises I could say that about. (end pointless statement)

The ORIGINALS are Sonic. I am a Sonic fan because of the Originals. I only played Sonic Heroes and Sonic Adventure 2 besides the Originals (Sonic 1, Sonic 1 for Gamegear, Sonic Chaos for Game Gear, Sonic the Hedgehog 2 [the best game of the series], Sonic 3, Sonic and Knucles, Sonic Spinball).

In fact Sonic started a slow decline after Sonic the Hedgehog 2 because the American and Japanese developing teams for Sonic split. They never fully got together (originally one group made Sonic 3(the Japanese team) the other group made Sonic Spinball (the American Group).

Well, I've played most Sonic games, good and bad. I've enjoyed the vast majority of them though. Secret Rings is the only one I can think of off of (triple preposition ftw) the top of my head that I throughly did not like.

Just because you don't like his most recent games does not mean you should be pissy about the fact that Sonic's in brawl. Sonic is the same as how he was in his 2-D games. His games may be different but he still acts the same way and is capable of doing the same things. The fact that you don't like his recent games don't subtract from him being a good character.

Sonic is going to be in brawl, Not Sonic Adventure, not Sonic Adventure 2, not Sonic Heroes, etc., but Sonic.

There's nothing to complain about.

YOU WIN!!

People hate Sonic because they fear that he threatens Mario. >_<

Ok, no really, whenever I hear about someone hating Sonic, it's mainly because of his move set. My brothers are a HUGE example.

"Oh, look at my special moves! B = Spin! SideB = Spin Again!! DownB = Spin Some More!!!"

Yeah, Sonic jumps and spins a lot, but remember...all Mario could do was jump...

Yeah, me being a fan myself, I know his games totally suck...we except for RUSH and RUSH ADVENTURE, but that's no reason to dislike him in Brawl...now if someone like Wonder Momo was in Brawl, then by all means, hate it up.
