Wow, total ****. I probably took 5 stocks off him out of ten 3 stock matches. I was happy the one time I got two stocks off him in one match. Any advice for not getting Pika up-b gimped while I'm doing PKT2 recovery? Also, would this even matter against any Pikachu not named Anther?

Ohh, snap!

As far as recovering, it's pretty much Ness' biggest handicap. The best thing for us is to recover high. Save your double jumps until you really need them, and throw off your opponent with Magnet stalling. Fair is usually a good move for fending off edgeguards, or if you want to be really fancy, a well-aimed PK Fire. When you're forced to recover from below, throw your opponent off with an inverse PKT2. I haven't faced too many Pikachus, so I can't offer too much advice...

Also, we haven't brawled since summer, Camzaman... You probably don't remember me, I was but a wee Smash Journeyman then... We had some good fights, I want to try my Ness against your DK again sometime.

Did he hit you with Up B while you were returning or did he just grab the edge? For Pikachu to even try hitting you with Quick Attack while you return, that's a bit risky. He could have gotten hit. Also, it was wifi, so don't think you suddenly suck just because he won most of the matches.

What's even better is that he was probably sandbagging cuz it was lag-fi.

Wow, I'm a jerk.

I actually do remember you, but we'll have to play again some time. Well, my DK ain't all that... Ness is still by far my best character, although DK is second.

I've always wanted to play Anther on wifi...

Maybe sometime soon.

But what exactly did he do to you? I actually know a lot about the Pikachu matchup, especially from playing TJ so much.

well i like to use my jumps but i do my own techneek that isnt really a tech but its more of a style of playing that i use

i like to use what i call palm waving (cuz its like a plam attack and it looks like squirtals up b wave thing), wich it just when you jump and press Fair at the same time i time it so that i can spam my opponent and rack up the dammage then go in for a b air or grabs, that might work on pickachu but havent played one yet since i picked up ness (0h and its pretty fancy lookin)

No, it's true, I could kinda tell when he wasn't ****** me ultra mega hard, just super hard...:dizzy:
Maybe you just got really nervous and he started taking you down easier. Your attitude during a match matters.

Umm... so you're using fair a lot? That can work sometimes.

It can work a lot of times if you use it intelligently. Most people don't and it can only really be learned through experience and the ability to predict your opponent as well as outspace him. It's something many never learn, but you young Paduan(SP?) can!

Yea he did mindgames are a big part of playing ness, if you cant play mindgames then your playing the wrong guy and you should probably pick a straight-forward guy like bowza

You should be able to go toe to toe with Pika......mostly......on the ground so you have to fight hard to get a upper hand here. The thing is that alot of Pika's airs have loads of priority or is muti-hit so if you know you won't be able to out space him in the air revert back to the ground. Some thing i have found very effective.....against almost all the cast....is the jumping PK fire it has not as much lag and it leaves you less vulnerable, and it hits alot. But really Try not to rush in play more defensively, use Yo-Yo blocks, retreating Fairs(I use tab jump), retreating PK fires, PK thunder....or PKT2, and when he is knocked off stage switch quickly to the hard offensive and try to take advantage or at least every time you knock Pika away try the PKT juggle just to build damage, and save Bthrow, and Bair, and Uair(even.........especially off stage) . But its really just practice, try the two LVL 9 Pika computers and then do them on one team, and then move to Wi-Fi and practice more.

Thunder jolt is amazingly easy to absorb, even if they jump forward and use it. Just magnet cancel. Reflecting them is also somewhat practical, moreso than other projectiles. Di dsmash, use PSIM to protect yourself from thunder, abuse fair, use PKT to edgeguard.
