This will be a double elimination tournament.
* Items off.
* Ties are broken by remaining lives, then %. If both criteria are tied, then the Sudden Death match will be played out.
* Each player/team takes turns striking a stage from the Neutral stages listed below until there is only 1 left. The first game will be played on the remaining stage.
* The loser of the first match will announce a new stage to play on for the next game. The winner will then be allowed to switch characters, followed by the loser. Apply the same logic for the third match (and fourth/fifth when applicable) if there is one. (Advanced Slob Picks)
* No stage may be used twice in a single set if the counter-picking player has already won on that stage, unless the opponent agrees to use the stage again. (Dave's Stupid Rule)
* Double Blind character pick can be called at anytime before the first game of a set starts, and only apply to the first game.
* Each person may choose one stage to be disabled for the entire set at the START OF THE SET, after characters have been chosen but before the random stage has been picked. You may ban neutral stages.
* Controller Mods, Glitches (IC Freeze Glitch, Mewtwo Soul Stunner, etc), and tactics used to stall a match (wall-bombing, rising pound), are banned.

Should let people bring Brawl. No harm in expanding the audience.

Also should be at least one friendlies only TV for each game.

Yeah.

**** you better be buying a lot of chips, $5, that means if 10 people show up $50 worth of chips? Assuming one person eats maybe a half a bag and then drinks a half a bottle of pop, you should consider lowering the venue fee.

LOL, $50 worth of chips and drink is pretty funny. that's fine, but couldn't we just spend 5 bucks on our own food somewhere else? relying on sveet to buy us snacks sounds mad weird.

i would suggest putting the venue fee into a big pot for a later tourny, something like the event 52 ppl did. they saved up the fees and made a big bonus which attracted a bunch of big name players.

or maybe just scrap the fee for the first one just to see who's coming. who's even going to these? so many ppl are gonna be gone by the 12th. and the place is free, so i dunno. i'm okay with whatever, but there's a chance i might even be going

ray chun, shut up.

i've talked to a some people and it seems like a lot of people from the vro zone are going to make it. if i buy 5-6 12pks of pop and then enough individual chip packs for everyone, i'm looking at a good chunk of money. vro's venue fee didn't even cover his costs. and trying to collect venue fee can be hard because certain people don't like to pay.

i think i'm gonna do mt dew and coke (common favorites) and then mostly doritos for chips. maybe pretzels instead.

*shakes head* first off, you can run your tourny however you wanna. i guess looking back, my suggestions were just outta my azz so they weren't really good. fair enough?

secondly, you really think my chars are pathetic? aight, $50 mm? 100? i'll do any amount, whatever matchup u want, son. if you lose, i'll even give you your money back if you admit you're not even close to my skill level

Charging a venue fee is fine and all, but what about the people who don't care about the snacks and just want to play?

Edit: Ray, I'll take you up on any of those $mm. Except my marth vs. sheik.

I'm interested in the stage striking format that they used at genesis. In case anyone didn't know, genesis had 7 neutrals (6 + dk64) and each player took turns striking a stage until only 1 was left. That stage was the first stage to be played on in the set.

Pros:
* characters with lots of bad stages can do better (ICs and CF could strike FoD/YS/BF without wasting their stage ban)
* stage bans would be used to stop counter pick stages more often than to prevent a bad random
* both players would be on fairly even footing on the first stage (often the most important stage in the set)

Cons:
* would take a lot longer
* would be more confusing, especially to people who don't read the threads
* some people like to ***** about everything, and i'd have to listen to them
