ROFL, you can't do RR if there's 20+ people. Hell, 16 is pushing it. And if you do, the matches would have to be so truncated to the point where the more important matches would mean very little. 3 stock best of 1 FTW...? If there's more than 12, just swiss seed double elim the thing.

Best of 1 sounds a little too rushed. I mean, I understand there's going to be a lot of people, but yeah...

Well since RR is ruled out with magus obviously greater intellegence, I was thinking we should do pools of 5 people and RR's in them. Then RR's with the top player of each pool?(5 pools) or a reg double elim random seed tourny could work too whatever.

Top 1 from each pool isn't a very good idea. It cuts too many people, and the 2 best could very well be in the same pool right off the bat or something. Swiss seeded d elim is the next best thing to RR, since it is nearly as fair/accurate and also guarantees everyone a lot of games even if they were to lose all of them. With 4 rounds of seeding, you'd get at the very least 6 sets with people ranging in skill from top to bottom along with a very well balanced bracket with the way it works. Of course, if someone makes their way through the entire loser's bracket just right to win they could potentially play up to 15 sets total, but at that point there will be open TVs for the people who are out to continue playing on.

well, as far as tournament rules go... im a fan of Double German Backwards Rock Paper Scissor Quadruple Eliminatory Round Rule Metric Scale Lightyear Gram BCS Computer Percentage Forty Six Chromosome Double Blind Knot Tournamation Standard Form myself...

but thats just my opinion...

either that or Round Robin would be peachy. 2 round robin would be fine w the 8 setups were gona have, even if the number of people is in the high 20s.. plus well all get to play everyone. i think it will fly by migty awesomely.

If by fly by you really mean take 12-30 hours to get an absurd 200-450 SETS completed (not even just matches), then yeah =D. Seriously, RR is not an option with that many people. To get an idea, 12 people would have 66 pairings (realistically translates to about 3-4 hours), 24 would have 276, and 30... would have 435 sets to be done :dizzy:.

Magus, you do two rounds everyone plays each other twice..there are no sets its just two games record your match and move on its not that bad.. at skags smashfest a few weeks ago we had 12 people and did it that way with 4 setups.. took like 2 hours.. so techinaly having 8 steup should take 2 hours with 24 people.. we could end up having more htan 8 setups too.. I think we should at least consdier it once we are all there and counted for and see how many setups are there.

So I suppose a RR with 72 people and 24 setups also takes 2 hours? Sorry but no. Doesn't work like that. I guess you know better than me though.

if you have 24 ppl doing a round robin then that is 276 sets on eight televisions so 34.5 sets per tv with 24 people while 12 person round robin on 4 tvs is only 66 sets and only 16.5 sets per tv with 12 so it would take OVER twice as long... so if all sets took the exact same length say, 10 minutes total then the whole round robin would take 5 hours and 45 minutes if ABSOLUTLY NOTHING went wrong and you didnt have to wait for anyone to finish a match or wait for them to come to the right cube... i mean it would be AWESOME but probably not feasible to do... just my input

EDIT: with 24 and eight setups i would do 4 brackets with six people in each for round robin so there would be 15 sets per bracket with 4 brackets so sixty sets on eight tvs at ten minutes per set it would be an hour and 15 minutes for the entire round robin section

4brackets((6people X 5sets per person)/2count each match once)=60 sets
60 sets/8tvs= 7.5sets/tv
10minutes/set X 7.5sets/tv= 75 minutes/tv and since they are running simultaneously it is approx. 1:15 for the whole round robin and taking top two from each brackets leaves you a quick eight man tournament

Where are you guys getting sets from? each player just plays 2 games... w/e we'll decide when we see how many setups we have, btw our crew is bringing one if not two setups. oh and how many people are there as well. I"m down for anything tho.. so whatevers gravy, i just want to get crew battles in xD, *looks at velocity/dot eaters crew* and possibly would we get to play THP? ^^

Semantics. It's more than a single match. Call it whatever, but it still doesn't change the fact that it would consume nearly the entire fest or not even finish at all with that many people. It's not even a smashfest at that point; just a no entry fee drag-on-ball z tournament with very little free time to play whoever whenever and try out different characters against people for fun. I can only speak for myself, but I prefer getting a good amount of matches with a good amount of people as opposed to 2 quick play to win matches with the whole town.

-Agreed. I wanted this to be a smashfest. Tournaments are over-rated IMO. I just enjoy smashfesting. So my vote on the shortest tournament style. I have nothing to prove, I don't really care about where I would place among a bunch of people that I just want to have some fun with. And some people aren't going to really be my skill level, so I'd rather play people I choose to, instead of playing people I know I will win/lose to.

I'd tend to agree with Magus and Jay. We could do a quick swiss seeded double elim, and get fairly accurate tourny results. The best will shine through. Plus, at a tournament of that small size, the exact placements outside top 3 wouldn't be indicative of much anyway. Since it's all for fun, I recommend Magus's idea, and then lots and lots of friendlies!

I don't know what swiss seeded double elim is, but seems cool, and yeah friendlies are fine, but no it was just friendlies johns INUI. And yes crew battles > all. Teams for fun is sweet, Eggm and Treble pwnage. Sounds fine, magus since your posting i'm assuming yoru coming? I wanna get some 1on1's in this time :), I need jiggs practice, and i suck vs gannon too so good **** ;)
