I've Emailed JV, the administrator of Smashboards, proposing this idea. It's something I feel would improve the Poke Center, get even more activity going, and help a lot of people.

A new subforum, called "Strategy Pokedex." We have one called "The Rating Room," it would be located right under that. Only mods would be allowed to post in it, myself, Umbreon and Chill. However, I'm thinking that anyone that wants to help will be allowed to.

Basically, it's going to be just like a Strategy Pokedex that other sites have, only each entry will be a thread. It will be locked so no one can post in it. I'm thinking, if you want to do an entry for a Pokemon, write it up, PM it to me, Umbreon, or Chill if they are interested, and we will edit it as necessary and post it.

Basically I'm posting this to see a few things.

1. If you guys think it would be a good idea.
2. To talk about what format the entries will be.
3. To answer any questions about it.

1., 2. Strategy is highly situational, depending on the teams surrounding specific monsters.
Ipso facto, there should be Physical/Special Sweeper/Tank, Spiker, etc. threads, rather than threads that rely on one person to provide every class of strategy.
3. Will the threads be subject to rating by the average user? It would help users if the cream could rise to the top.

Platypus, I think you may be getting confused with something else.

Each Pokemon will have its own thread. Hopefully, every Pokemon will have its own thread by the time we are done.

And as far as which threads are posted in which order, we'd be doing them alphabetically to make it easier for users to find a Pokemon they are looking for.

And yeah, all the threads will probably be stickied.

1. I think that its an excellent idea. It will help all those who have no prior competitive Pokemon expirience figure out the ups and downs of each Pokemon. Definately worth it.
2. My suggestion.

Pokemon Name (Size 5-7, Underlined, Colored in a sense relating to the Poke (Pikachu would be yellow, for instance))

*Picture of the Pokemon in a Pokedex*

Pros (underlined, Size 5 font)

Cons (underlined, Size 5 Font)

In-depth description of the Pokemon.

3. How will the people helping in this be decided? Will the helpers get there own title/color like the Debaters get? I have no interest in helping (mostly because I don't know anything) I'm just curious.

I'm not sure which, if we should just appoint some people as official people to write the entries, or just let anyone send me, Umbreon, or Chill a PM and then we'd review it. No guarantee your entry would go in, but at least that way everyone has a chance to have their entry go in to the dex and their info to help the community. On the other hand, I don't want to get my PM box full of really crappy entries that need editing all the time.

What do you guys think?

I think that there should be a sub forum with all the Pokemon (fully evolved and stuff) with the picture, base stats, resistances, weakness, type(s) [But that isn't really NEEDED because Smogon and Serebii both have those]...Then every single post after that are submitted strats, and if they are ****ty, just edit them out. My second idea is maybe create a new sub-forum maybe called Submit-A-Strategy where anybody can post treads that just are submitted strategies, and the good ones you could pick out and post onto the main strategy thread, where everybody can comment and stuff. so the mod's inboxes woun't be flooded by terrible or repetitive ideas.
Hm, maybe Pokemon should be it's own section, like melee =D

sounds good and useless at the same time, because as mentioned each pokemon has it's advantage in different situations. but roy has a good idea above. or maybe start by posting the best attacks to have for each pokemon and which EVs to increase?

I like the idea altogether, and I'm wondering if there's anyway I could apply for posting rights in that room.

This sounds like a good idea, but I have two suggestions.

1. Maybe you should only sticky one thread. This thread could be an index with links to the rest.
2. Instead of having only one person write the entries, you could have a weekly discussion (like what the SBR did with Brawl), and then have one person do a summary of discussion that comes out of it.

The first idea I agree with also, but for the 2nd idea it would be better for daily since we have like 150+ usable pokemon compared to the 40 or less in brawl lol

I'm not all for the discussion idea tbh. I kind of want the entries to be strictly formatted all the same, hence the purpose of people writing them and mods editing.

What do you mean contribute beforehand? I like the idea of us having a stickied thread dedicated to community review of an entry. For example, let's say Meta-Kirby wants to write an entry on Alakazam. These are the steps that would be taken.

1. He would write the entry according to whichever format I/we decide on.
2. He posts his entry in a stickied thread called "Strategy Pokedex Entry Drafts"
3. The community breaks down his entry, tells him what they think he should add/take out.
4. After the community/mods are doing looking it over and are satisfied, a mod will take it and create a new thread in the subform "Strategy Pokedex" titled "Alakazam." In it will contain the entry that Meta-Kirby wrote and the community agreed on.

How does that sound?

Exactly.
You could even have multiple opinions.

This is a good idea, but isn't it kind of made useless by the fact that Serebii and Smogon (I think) already have this?
But I still like the idea a lot. The system you described could work. I think the Pokecenter could use this.:)

Excellent idea. And maybe there could be a seperate stickied thread to discuss currently posted entries and what we think should be changed around, in the event that some new advancement in the meta-game comes up.

Alot of the Smogon information is outofdate, and they are taking a sh*tload of time fixing/updating it, so I guess it would be better if we (Smashboards) adds this stuff so we get maybe more activity here. But the mods are only going to accept the more innovative, creative and useful movsets, right?

for the concern of who udates and posts, I think there should be a select group that has like a special membership to post there and stuff, and then we (the regulars) could have our own thread to discuss what to update and such

Idk about ONLY accepting creative innovative movesets. I mean, CB Tyranitar isn't creative at all but it's still one of his best movesets.

I don't think we'd do a group that has special membership to post in that room, since that would require an admin giving you that ability. Also, everyone's going to put their input in anyways so it doesn't make any sense really.

Glad to hear everyone likes it. I emailed the admin a few days ago but have yet to get a reply. If you want, we can start the project now while we're waiting for the subforum...I'll create a thread and sticky it and we can begin to work on entries if you'd like.

What a time for me to return here. Yay!

So, we're basically doing RTP's again(didn't read too much), in a sense? That's cool.
It should be for the main Pokemon though, so there isn't a billion 200+ sticky's. Main meaning OU people like Blissey, Infernape, etc.
I'd have there main movesets in the beginning, and others come after it. Sorry if this was all said, el oh el.
This is cool. Do we need permission to do a Pokemon or no?

By the way, I got a new RMT guys! Check it out please.

that sounds nice. i think i will submit my weird scizor set when it gets to scizor and maybe my choice scarf ttar.

this sounds interesting hopefully this gets the poke center to get a bit more competitive so tournaments can be held successfully here.

There will be no "getting" to Scizor...You can submit an entry at any time you like haha.
well as you don't have a yes on the idea and we don't have a set format to use then i wait a bit and maybe try to work out the moveset a little bit better as roost isn't doing much for it due to its lack of speed.
