Job 7: Kat (Gravity Rush)

download (1).jpeg

Kat is the protagonist from PlayStation franchise duology called Gravity Rush, she is a young girl who have gravity superpowers and a cosmic cat who is called Dusty.

Kat is not very iconic as other PlayStation characters as Kratos,Ratchet and Clank,Sackboy,Aloy,Joel and Ellie and others, but she is remembered as Kat appeared on PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale and Everybody's Golf or some cameos as Astro's Playroom, and i can't forget she appeared on a PS4 Wallpaper for celebrating the Women's Day,and Gravity Rush have an manga and an anime who you can watch on YouTube.

I wanted to submit Shantae, but i had to choose Kat ot Shantae,i chose Kat because i already wanted a PlayStation rep

Job 5#:

1. KneeOfJustice99
2. MartianSnake
3. DragonRobotKing26

Female Fighter: Aqua(Kingdom Hearts)

Iconic character from her franchise and our game won't have to pay Disney a small continents worth of cash for a Mickey symbol on her keychain

I'm gonna sit out the character round actually but have a stage

Casino-Night-ZoneI-I.png

Casino Night Zone
Wanted to submit something different than Green Hill Zone or similar stages. Players fight in a big casino. It's laid out sort of like the Smash Flash 2 version and has pinball bumped a that will knock fighters around

Job 6

Seaside Hill is a sonic zone first appearing in Sonic Heroes. It has also appeared in Sonic Generations and all three Sumo Digital Sonic/SEGA racing games. Much like my pac-man stage submission, my aim is a stage based on a relatively modern game with a classic feel, although to a lesser extent here. The checkerboard pattern on the hills and the palm trees should bring green hill to mind.

The layout is as follows: 3 main stages, separated by pits of water. The stages on the left and right are grassy and lead to walk offs, while the one in the middle is stone and is in a similar style to the stone paths and palaces found in Ocean Palace, seaside hill's 2nd act.

This middle stage has 2 semi solid platforms floating above in a way similar to WarioWare Inc in Smash. Occasionally (with some sort of light visual warning beforehand) an orca will jump up from under the stone stage, destroying it in the process and leaving only the semisolid platforms behind. It'll eventually regenerate.

In the background various Sonic Heroes characters will cameo, such as Team Chaotix or Big the Cat.

______
Job 7

Chell from the Portal series, her portal gun could lead to some weird moves, and I can see her pulling in turrets, cubes, and gels for other attacks. Portal is a great series and she'd be a great Valve/Steam rep.

Alright alright! Time to look at the voting results!

Job #2: roster size results:

34: 1 point
53: 2 points
25: 4 points
40: 5 points
28: 6 points
35: 9 points
32: 9 points
30: 11 points

It looks like 30 is our lucky roster number! Not too big and not too small, a perfect middle ground.

Job #3: name results:

Land of the Masters: 1 point
Video Game of Deathmatch: 4 points
Gaming Clash: 6 points
Nintendon't: 6 points
Pixel Punch-Up: 11 points
Champions of the Consoles: 14 points
Video Game Brawl of Fame: 18 points

Video Game Brawl of Fame
will be the title of this game! I think it fits the project and sets the tone quite nicely.
_______

Now let's round up the submissions for jobs 4 and 5!

Job #4: Submit a PAC-MAN Stage!
Pac-Maze ( Tankman from Newgrounds Tankman from Newgrounds )
Pac-Championship ( FazDude FazDude )
Championship Maze (@me)
Namco Museum ( KneeOfJustice99 KneeOfJustice99 )
Buccaneer Bay ( darkvortex darkvortex )

Vote as you have before!

Job #5: Submit an Idea for Gameplay!
DragonRobotKing26 DragonRobotKing26 's submission
HyperSomari64 HyperSomari64 's submission
KneeOfJustice99 KneeOfJustice99 's submission
MartianSnake MartianSnake 's submission

Vote as you would the other jobs
_______

And now for the new jobs!

Job #6: Submit a Sonic Stage!

Job #7: Submit a female character for the roster!

While we may not have access to Samus, Zelda, or Pikachu Libre, there's plenty of iconic women in gaming that deserve a chance to join the Brawl of Fame!

Once again, please let me know if this is going too fast, this will probably be the last time I ask this for a while.
Job #04:
  1. Pac-Championship.
  2. Pac-Maze.
  3. Buccaneer Beach.
Job #05:
  1. DragonRobotKing26's submission.
  2. MartianSnake's submission.
  3. KneeOfJustice99's submission.
Just to be clear, the moveset I suggested (if it needed a comparison) is loosely based on Kirby Fighters 2, albeit more polished overall.

Job #06:
Stage Name: South Island
Stage Origin: Sonic the Hedgehog (Game Gear, 1991)

A stage based on South Island, the location in which the events of the first Sonic the Hedgehog game occur, though specifically on it's Game Gear appearance. You would fight, as expected, on the lower parts of the island (on Green Hill Zone), though the background would allow you to see other zones from that game - including Bridge Zone, Jungle Zone, Scrap Brain Zone and Sky Base Zone, as well as small hints toward Labyrinth Zone. In terms of layout, the stage itself would feature various minor elements of level design from the Sonic the Hedgehog series, such as a swinging platform.

Job #07:
Character Name: Aerith Gainsborough
Character Origin: Final Fantasy VII (PlayStation, 1997)

Whilst the Final Fantasy series has a massive variety of characters who could potentially work to represent it, I think that Aerith would be a fantastic choice for a variety of reasons. Firstly, she's one of the most iconic video game characters outright, with one of the most well-known moments in video game history featuring her specifically. Not only this, but she represents one of the most important video game franchises on top of that. That said, she'd also be a little more unique than just a central protagonist from the series - fighting with a staff, as well as potentially being able to use magical skills through the use of Materia and the Limit system, though those magical skills are primarily defensive in nature. And, on top of all of this, she's a beloved character who's a lasting fan-favourite. I think she'd be more than warranted in a game like this.

from the Tomb Raider series has been added to our roster! Definitely a very deserving slot, I'd argue she's one of the most well-known women in gaming.

Joining her is Jill Valentine from the Resident Evil series! Resident Evil is such an iconic series, and I'm very glad Jill gets to act as a representative for it in VGBoF!

_______
And now... the new jobs!

Job #8: Submit an item! This can be from a currently repped series, or something else entirely!

Job #9: Submit a moveset/moveset concept for any of the currently playable characters!

You don't have to make a full moveset, stuff like specials and other notable things should suffice. Use KneeOfJustice99 KneeOfJustice99 's gameplay pitch as guide for how movesets work in this game. Look up gameplay of Kirby Fighters 2 if you feel you need a visual guide for aspects such as the one attack button control style.

  • You can jump with the jump button, or you can dash by double-tapping the control stick in the direction you want to dash in.
    • You're also able to shorthop by simply tapping the jump button, or can longhop by holding it for more height.
    • By default, characters have two jumps - though some characters may have more than others, on a case-by-case basis.
    • Dashing does not function whilst airborne, and is a ground-exclusive feature.
  • All attacks are bound to a single button, coupled with directional inputs.
    • Attacks of all kinds can be performed - normal moves, more powerful moves, even projectiles and unique "specials"!
    • In general, directional inputs do not use diagonals, only the cardinal directions of up, down, left and right.
    • Some attacks are exclusive to the air, but may use the same directional inputs as some grounded attacks.
    • Characters may also have a Dash Attack, being an attack performed whilst they are dashing on the ground.
    • In some cases, characters may have tap/hold inputs on the attack button to perform different moves.
    • Some characters have command inputs, that require multiple directional inputs prior to a certain attack. This is on a case-by-case basis.
  • Dodging is removed completely, including air dodges. It's replaced with the shield/block as a catch-all defensive tool.
    • Your shield can be used in the air, though it slows both your horizontal and vertical momentum in the process.
    • Parrying remains in place - you can perfect-parry by releasing the shield button at the right time.
    • Maintaining the shield for too long results in it breaking, leaving you dizzy and vulnerable.
    • Some characters may have unique shields (similar to Yoshi's in Super Smash Bros.), though this is on a case-by-case basis.
    • Teching has been removed completely.
  • Grabs remain in place.
    • You can perform a throw whilst an opponent is grabbed by inputting forward or backward. Up/down throws have been removed.
    • Pummelling is also available by tapping the attack button whilst an opponent is grabbed.
    • If you're grabbed by an opponent, mashing buttons and quickly moving the control stick can break you free much quicker.
  • Characters have a HP bar. If it is depleted to zero, the character is killed.
    • The lower a player's HP is, the further they get launched when hit by an attack.
    • By default, a player has 100HP - though certain characters may have more or less, again on a case-by-case basis.
  • There are no Final Smashes or other "super moves".
    • Some characters may have specific "meters", though this is on a case-by-case basis, with their effects differing depending on the specifics.
  • Stages do not feature blast zones, and are more akin to traditional fighting game stages.
    • In cases where there is no obvious "wall" on the ceiling or either side, an invisible "wall" will be placed there instead.

Job #07:
  1. 36 Stages
  2. 37 Stages
  3. 40 Stages
Job #08:
Item Name: Fruit
Item Origin: Pac-Man (1980)

The Fruit are reoccuring items and objects from throughout the Pac-Man series, so it only makes sense to represent them here. However, we'd only include the Cherry, Strawberry, Orange, Apple and Melon. When you attack them, they'll heal you a certain amount of HP, similar to the Food item in Smash. The specific amounts they heal you by are as follows:
  • Cherry: 5HP.
  • Strawberry: 10HP.
  • Orange: 15HP.
  • Apple: 20HP.
  • Melon: 25HP.
Job #09: May as well go for Sonic!

Sonic's moveset in general is focused on speed and fluid movement, reflecting the gameplay of his source material (at its best.) As such, he doesn't have access to many moves that keep him stationary, and his moveset doesn't have too much focus on tap/hold inputs compared to others. However, he's got a decent variety of tools to keep him constantly on the move, coupled with high ground speed, decent jumps, and the ability to wall jump, whilst also lacking a unique shield of any form.

That said, his lack of actual projectile tools, or even any proper charge inputs, means that he's a character who kind of needs to weave in and out of more powerful opponents' way. He also has plenty of horizontal movement tools for in the air, but lacks in vertical tools, meaning he'll need to avoid getting too close to blast zones on the stages that feature them lest he be unable to recover and will also need to ensure that opponents don't rain down from above him.

He has a total of eight unique attacks, which are as follows:

Attack NameButton InputDescriptionImage
Skid Attack
B on ground
Sonic plants a hand on the ground and performs a forward somersault, kicking overhead and in front of him with his feet. If moving whilst performing this attack, the somersault will maintain some of his momentum. The attack isn’t great when stationary but is better when moving promoting constant movement. It’s pulled from Sonic Advance, specifically.
Vault
B whilst dashing
If in a dashing state, Sonic plants his hand on the ground and performs a low sweeping kick forward, acting as a combination of the Sweep Kick from Sonic the Hedgehog (2006) and the Vault from Sonic Lost World. If you hold the direction you’re dashing in, Sonic will continue to run after attacking.
Air Spin
B in midair
Sonic curls up into a ball whilst airborne and rapidly spins, with a slight extension to his hitbox. Whilst this is most closely intended to reflect an aerial from Sonic the Fighters, it’s a general reference to one of his most reoccurring abilities that he's had since Sonic the Hedgehog. As a side note, the extension to his hitbox is stylised similar to the Insta-Shield from Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles, though doesn't maintain that move's intangibility.
Sonic Rocket
↓ + B in midair
Sonic extends a leg downward and performs a stall-and-fall diving kick at high speed, with a small hitbox around him when he lands as well, resulting in this working pretty well as a method of ensuring you're pulled to the ground pretty quickly. This is pulled from Sonic Battle, though Sonic has a variety of quick-fall moves throughout the series.
Humming Top
→ + tap B in midair
Extending a leg outward, Sonic spins horizontally at high speed, giving him some lateral motion and multi-hitting opponents caught in the spinning kick. It’s pulled from Sonic Advance 2, but also featured in the Rush series.
Jump Dash/Homing Attack
→ + hold B
This attack has two distinct effects depending on your proximity to another player when used, though works like the Homing Attack in Sonic Adventure and onward. If you’re too far away from an opponent or item, Sonic will dash forward with an after-image behind him. However, if you’re close enough, a reticule on your target will show, then he’ll curl into a ball and rapidly slam into them at high speed.
Spin Dash
↓ + (repeatedly) B on ground
Working like it did in Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Sonic curls up and charges a rapid burst of movement, which he’ll do whilst in ball form. Opponents hit by him in this state will be multi-hitted, and the speed and power of the attack will increase depending on how much you charge it.
Spin
↓ on ground whilst moving
Whilst moving, inputting a downward direction has Sonic curl up and roll forward, maintaining some of his momentum but slowing down over time. When in this state, Sonic damages enemies he hits, but is unable to control his direction unless he releases the down input or draws to a stop, in which case, he’ll just crouch.

Hope this clears the air a little! If it's any help, the WiKirby for Kirby Fighters 2 has a list of characters, each of which have their KF2 movesets in their own pages. I also decided to avoid numeric notation as seen on Mizuumi mostly because it's a little confusing - fit for purpose in more traditional fighting games, but not here.

Ah Crap, Here Comes Pac-Man's Moveset
While Sonic's a Rushdown fighter, Pac-Man has a more generalist approach. He doesn't have a ton of moves, but using them well opens up a lot of possibilities for the great yellow one.
  • Chomp (B, both on the ground and in midair)
    • Pac-Man does what he does best and quickly bites forward. The move is a standard jab, but also has a sweetspot near the inside of Pac's mouth - Should this sweetspot be hit, Pac-Man and the opponent temporarily freeze in place as the "eating a ghost" SFX plays. Afterwards, the opponent is launched from Pac-Man's mouth as a pair of eyes, having taken increased damage and knockback. The eye transformation is only cosmetic, with the opponent returning to normal after they're hit again or get out of hitstun.
  • Running Chomp (B while walking/dashing)
    • Identical to Pac's Dash Attack from Smash. Doesn't have the same sweetspot as the standard Chomp, but good at trapping opponents for multiple hits.
  • Pac-Dot Shoot (B + Forward, grounded, both on the ground and in midair)
    • When used, Pac-Man just throws a Pac-Dot forwards as a weak/knockback-less, yet quick projectile which can be used for passive damage. If charged, the projectile is upgraded into a Super Pac-Dot which acts more like a standard Hadoken.
  • Rev-Roll (B + Backward, grounded)
    • Pac-Man begins running in place, building up momentum before taking off with a somersault as soon as B is released! While Pac goes rather fast, he can't be stopped after he gets going until he runs out of steam. You can jump while rolling, though.
  • Pellet Trail (B + Backward, aerial)
    • Pac-Man throws out a trail of pellets, being able to angle the trail in five directions. He then chomps his way through the trail, damaging opponents in his path. While stronger than the Rev-Roll, summoning the pellets gives the move more endlag.
  • Super Pac-Man (B + Up, both on the ground and in midair)
    • Pac-Man scarfs down a Power Pellet, temporarily transforming into Super Pac-Man (wearing a superhero mask and cape) and chomping upwards. The initial chomp right as Pac eats the pellet serves as a potent sweetspot, with the rising chomps acting like a Ken Shoryuken.
  • Butt Bounce (B + Down, aerial)
    • A simple stall-and-fall which has Pac crash down with his rear. Pressing jump right when Pac lands has him cancel the move's standard endlag into a jump.

    • When used, Pac-Man just throws a Pac-Dot forwards as a weak/knockback-less, yet quick projectile which can be used for passive damage. If charged, the projectile is upgraded into a Super Pac-Dot which acts more like a standard Hadoken.
  • Rev-Roll (B + Left, grounded)
    • Pac-Man begins running in place, building up momentum before taking off with a somersault as soon as B is released! While Pac goes rather fast, he can't be stopped after he gets going until he runs out of steam. You can jump while rolling, though.

Item Submission:

Power Glove (Mattel)

Contrary to popular belief, the Power Glove is not a Nintendo product like the NES Zapper or similar things. This accessory gained legendary status due to its use in The Wizard film with one iconic line. "I love the Power Glove, it's so bad."

When the powerglove is equipped it grants a chargeable uppercut attack (up+B) that launches opponents far out. If charged long enough it'll even carry the wearer up in a shoryuken-like way, acting as a minor recovery move.

Will submit this idea I just also submitted in the Smash Infinite Thread.

Plumbob

Throwable item, if landed will see the thrower possess the opponent with iconic symbol placed above effected player. This will put the thrower temporarily in control of the opponent with buffed strength & speed & all damage only being done to the possessed fighter. To discourage people from just jumping off the stage if you do so no stocks are lost & both players would respawn with an extra 50 damage from what they had before.

32 stages: 0 points
45 stages: 2 points
40 stages: 3 points
35 stages: 4 points
37 stages: 7 points
36 stages: 14 points

Our game will have 36 Stages! I don't have much to say other than it's a pretty solid number!

_________
Now let's dig into some submissions!

Job #8 Submit an Item!

Fruit (PAC-MAN) ( KneeOfJustice99 KneeOfJustice99 )
Item Monitor (Sonic) ( darkvortex darkvortex )
Power Glove (Mattel) (@Me!)
Plumbob (The Sims) ( nirvanafan nirvanafan )
Energy Sword (Halo) ( Northsouthmap Northsouthmap )

Now for Item voting we'll be doing things differently from other voting processes in the thread. Simply list all the items submitted followed by a "y" or "n". Y means you want that item in, N means you don't. This is the process the Hasbro platform fighter thread uses, and I like it quite a bit. If an item has more N than Y, we won't add it. Here's an example with my own votes.

Fruits: Y
Item Monitor: Y
Power Glove: Y
Plumbob: N
Energy Sword: Y

Now on the subject of the moveset job

KneeOfJustice99 KneeOfJustice99 's Sonic Moveset and FazDude FazDude 's PAC-MAN Moveset will be the official movesets for them unless any other movesets pop up for them in this next round.

Lara Croft and Jill Valentine are still 100% clear of moveset submissions, so get on that if you have any ideas!

And now, the new jobs

Job #9: Submit a Mode

Versus Mode, Online Mode, and some form of Arcade Mode are already locked in. Other than that, pitch anything that fits under the "mode" title.

Job #10: Submit a Tomb Raider stage!

And reminder, job 8 is still open, especially for Lara and Jill!
