I attempted to create this a while back, but I fell out of it when I wasn't entirely sure how to manage it. I feel a lot more confident now, so let's try this again...
This thread's concept:
I have always wanted a Smash story mode that actively made use of the crossover aspect and spanned across all the fighters' worlds. So that's what we're up to! I have a specific concept for how this game will play, but it will be up to all of us together to determine the full story, gameplay specifics, and many more attributes!

What we're starting with:
A mysterious evil force is spreading across all of the many video game worlds, and Master Hand and Crazy Hand have summoned three soldiers to combat against it: The Mii Fighters. The Mii Fighters have been tasked with travelling to any world where the evil is present, and do whatever they can to fight back. But they won't have to do it alone. Over the course of their mission, the Miis will be able to recruit all of the Super Smash Bros. to their team!

Overall, this story will be very similar to Kingdom Hearts, but with video games instead of Disney movies. The Mii Fighters (and other characters we recruit along the way) will enter different game worlds at a certain point in their individual storylines. They will team up with that game's heroes and fight that game's villains... but the villains will be assisted (knowingly or unknowingly) by the Evil Force (We will decide who or what the Evil Force is. Maybe it's a team of video game villains, maybe it's some original characters, or maybe it's something like the Darkness from Pibby. Who knows?)

The other thing to keep in mind is that in each specific world, gameplay will be changed to match that of the specific game we're playing with. For example, if we were in Super Mario Bros., it would be a 2D platformer, but if we were in Super Mario 64, it would be a 3D platformer. Alternatively, we could be in Dr. Mario and be playing a puzzle game, or Mario Kart: Double Dash!! and be playing a tag-team kart racer. So, one recurring job will be deciding on how the many Smash characters play in each game world. Also, please keep in mind that we will be adapting the stories of whatever game we're in. If we're playing in the world of Sonic Heroes, we'll only include the characters, levels, and story elements of Sonic Heroes, with the addition of our Smash characters and whatever additional elements have been inserted by the Evil Force.

Over the course of our story, every character from Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (including alternates like Alph and the Koopalings) will join the team. No more, no less.

I know this will be a rather high effort creation thread, and I don't honestly expect too many people to join and stick with it. But I really think this will be fun, and I hope you will too.

The first set of jobs will be posted soon.

Job 1: The Game's Title!
First things first, what are we gonna call this? Submit your name ideas!
In my original attempt at this thread, we named it "Super Smash Bros. Convergence," so that will be available as an option by default.

Job 2: Who is the Evil Force?
Now, this is probably the most important thing. We need to know who the villains are! You can pretty much submit anything for this job, but please keep in mind that if you're submitting a team of gaming villains that everyone who's playable in Ultimate will eventually join the heroes. So if you want to submit Bowser, Ganondorf, Ridley, Sephiroth, etc, they'd have to switch sides at some point down the line.

Super Smash Bros: Conquest. We don't really know what the villain's motives are yet but it'll fit with the title for sure, I think. Probably.

Job 2: Subspace. As in, Subspace incarnate, which has somehow gained its own conscious. The Hands have tried to keep it contained (dr strange style) inside of a Smash Ball-like item, the Master Core, but it was destroyed in the same explosion that killed Galeem and Darkhon. Subspace is both mindless in its destruction, and carefully planned out in its execution of such terror.

Job 1:
Super Smash Bros. Story Mode. It's simple, but it gets right to the point. Think of it like Minecraft Story Mode.

Job 2:
I propose our villains to be a completely original team of characters who are all inspired by traditional video game genres and tropes. We'll have a cartoon monster, a gritty war general, an RPG demon, and a living embodiment of glitches, just as examples.

Job #1: Super Smash Bros: The Final Countdown. I love a good musical reference here and there, and I think it could bring a unique aura to a title like this with an almost apocalyptic vibe to it. (Plus, each "chapter" could be named after a thematically appropriate song too. That seems like fun >:D)

Job #2: Okay, hear me out here. The main villain... is The Announcer. It's implied that he's the secretive ringman behind all of the endless fighting that takes place in this patchwork world (taking some inspiration from Marvel's Secret Wars event) and he happens to be the main villain at the end of it all - complete with attacks based almost completely on all aspects of Smash history. Whilst it'd be really dumb, I think it'd be fun too!

Super Smash Bros: Crusades
I know that's a fangame title but its a cool title regardless

Job 2:
The Elemental Embodiments
So basically in my world, the story is that there are 10 elemental beings, with Galleem and Darkon being the embodiments of Light and Darkness respectively. The entire reason they fought together was that the spirits they raised were being used to develop an army to seal off the 11th embodiment, the embodiment of nothingness, whose wants to erase the world COMPLETELY, meaning nothing will exist at all, even itself. After WOL the Galeem and Dharkon were killed and sealed away and the 8 other elemental embodiments rose up to find and revive them again and help deal with the embodiment of nothingness. This embodiment of nothingness disguised itself as the great sage from Miitopia and stole its identity and decided to raise an army of other fighters to destroy the other elemental embodiments and erase the world completely. So in reality you are at first fighting for the bad guy, and depending on your actions you may have destroyed the world as well. It's complicated and kinda overkill sure but that's what you get for putting Sora into smash, you get convoluted narratives.

The names of the eight elemental embodiments are

Pyrus, the embodiment of Fire
Cryno, the embodiment of Ice
Hydrolius, the embodiment of Water
Terron, the embodiment of Earth
Smograk, the embodiment of Corrosion
Arborok, the embodiment of Plants
Tempesin, the embodiment of Air
Metax, the embodiment of Metal

Any ideas of a name for the embodiment of nothingness

Title sub:
Super Smash Bros. Subspace Crisis!

The fighters are in crisis this time, so yes.

Villain sub:
"FATHER"/Dominus the Eternal

Dominus the Eternal, aka "Father"
is main antagonist of SSB Story Mode: the game and he is proclaimed creator of Video Game Omniverse who created Master Hand, Crazy Hand and Tabuu. He is also responsible for creating the whole Video Game Omniverse as it was mentioned earlier.
The "Father"'s look is similar to Tabuu, but his skin is more dark blue and he has small resemblance to John Raimi (Ghost form) from Geist, but the cosmic stardust surrounds him instead. His face is more detailed, which is kinda reminiscent of Polygon Man from PSABR (Albeit without Polygonal features).

His purpose is to defeat all video game fighters from existence by sending them into Subspace or dangerous worlds that no one can survive.

shoutout to Final Countdown, which I would've voted for as it's a kickass name, but a while back I went to day camp with a really annoying bully who gave me trauma and he also made a Scratch game called Super Smash Bros: The Final Countdown so I don't wanna relive any more of that experience than I have to

The results are in! Our game shall be called...

Super Smash Bros. Conquest!

and our villain shall be...

The Announcer!

Congrats to Janx_uwu Janx_uwu and KneeOfJustice99 KneeOfJustice99 for their winning submissions!

Here are the full results, if you're interested:
  1. Conquest - 13
  2. Crusades - 7
  3. Convergence - 6
  4. Story Mode - 6
  5. Subspace Crisis - 6
  6. The Final Countdown - 5
  7. Revenge From Subspace - 5

  1. The Announcer - 13
  2. Subspace Incarnate - 11
  3. The Elemental Embodiments - 9
  4. "FATHER" - 7
  5. Tabuu & the Dragon King - 5
  6. My OCs - 3

And now, for our next set of jobs!

Job #3: Prologue / Basic Story Background!
We're going to start by laying out a little bit of groundwork. Now that we have our villain, it's time to establish a Prologue! What is the Announcer's motivation? What kind of evil plan does he have? What kind of powers will he have, allowing him to influence the worlds we'll be visiting?

Also, how will the Mii Fighters get involved? They'll be working for Master Hand and Crazy Hand, but why? This could be something simple, or you could use this as an excuse to get all lore-heavy!

Job #4: Decide on a "Hub World!"
In between missions, the Mii Fighters will have a Hub World they can rest and recuperate at. But what will it be? Just remember that it must have something to do with Master Hand and Crazy Hand.

Job #5: Decide on our first Mario world!
Our first world is going to be a Mario game. But don't worry, we'll be deciding on the next series to jump into together! But for now, pick which Mario game you wanna play! The only rule is: it must be a mainline Super Mario game. No RPGs, no spinoffs, and no Donkey Kong / Yoshi / Wario / Luigi's Mansion just yet. Keep in mind that Mario Maker and Mario Run are both considered mainline games, but we won't be accepting those either for now.

Job #3: I'd like to think that the Announcer's motivation is... all of the announcing he has to do for a living is making his throat sore. As a result, due to him existing outside of the canonical world of Smash Bros., he's engineered a situation in which he shouldn't have to announce for battles ever again - because he can make characters get lost in each other's worlds and finally get some peace and quiet whilst he looks for some cough drops in an effort to try and recover.

The Mii Fighters are actually being directly controlled by the player, who is a force in this world (similar to Frisk and Kris.) Master Hand and Crazy Hand are deities that were placed there by the Creators, those being the people who developed the game. Essentially, the Player has been asked through Master and Crazy Hand to bring back the Announcer - though they've hammed it up a bit to make it seem like a world-ending catastrophe. As such, the Mii Fighters agree with that sentiment - but over time, the control you thought you had over them wanes as they begin to see the world for what it truly is...

Job #4:
Here, I'll suggest something a little meta - the All-Star Rest Area. Essentially, it takes place on one of the many floating islands that also make up the Battlefields and the like, though is designed as a place to rest and recuperate over time. Sure, it might be a little basic, but it feels like a solid inclusion.

Job #5: I'm going to submit Super Mario 64, purely because it feels like an obvious choice to start with. The game itself is somewhat about you hopping into other worlds - so having a painting as the "portal" into this world would be really fun! Not only this, but it's by far one of the most beloved Mario titles out there. It just feels like such an obvious pick!

JOB 3: Prologue
(Interestingly, Xander Mobus both voices The Announcer and the Hands in Ultimate. Let's see where I can go with this...)

The Announcer has no vessel, and is only represented by a blue mist-like substance that can seep into inanimate objects to hide inside of, but not possess them. He once worked together with the Hands to provide a fun, engaging experience of Smash. The Hands delivered tough fights, recruited Fighters, and built Stages, and The Announcer was their voice. Having the ability of ventriloquism, this task was just as easy said as it was done for The Announcer. But soon, it became much more of a toxic partnership. As Master and Crazy Hand kept recruiting dozens and dozens more Fighters, Attractions (modes), and so on, The Annoucner became worn out with everything that needed to be...well, announced.

While the Hands and the Fighters were distracted with Galeem and Darkhon, The Announcer slipped away, and Smash became dull. Without him, there was no excitement to be had over the selection of Fighters, and the Hands were without their iconic, intimidating voices, now mute.

With his chance made available now that his location is unknown, The Announcer decides enough is enough. He's going to whittle down the roster, bit by bit. As for how he does this...I'll leave that up to the thread. But he'll for sure use his unique ventriloquist abilities to manipulate Fighters with their loved ones - so, for instance, The Announcer might force Luigi to tell Mario that Bowser has been defeated and they can finally rest easy (though the Hand can alter who hears the faked voice, so that way, Luigi can't immediately sense if something's gone wrong).

When it comes to abilities, along with the aforementioned ventriloquism, The Announcer can edit the world(s) around him, without creating entirely new matter like the Hands are able to. Apart from his ventriloquism though, The Announcer cannot cause direct harm to any Fighter or the Hands, though he finds many indirect ways of doing this. He can also be in multiple places at once with no consequence to him (he kinda splits off like a hive mind).

When the Hands realize that something has gone wrong years before the Fighters are to return for another Smash, they realize that they will need to re-recruit them for help in defeating The Announcer. But with their powers exhausted for the next Smash, they cannot synthesize any new Fighters or Stages for the time being, and they can't travel outside of the Smash universe like The Announcer. They use the last of their abilities though, and create the Mii Fighters - blank slates with which they can help unite the fighters yet again to take on this new threat. All the Mii Fighters start off as literal blank slates - no personality and very little speech. But each fighter they meet helps them grow as characters, so what players once only chose as the fun customizable character become lovable, interesting, and relatable characters by the end of the game.

TL;DR The Announcer can make people say stuff and he provides an extra flair to everything, but he's tired of doing it so he's getting his revenge by getting rid of all the Fighters somehow. Mii Fighters are made by the Hands becasue they don't have a ton of energy, Mii Fighters start off boring but get character development over time.

JOB 4: The Town

Ever wondered why there's some random deserted city in the background of Ultimate's Result Stage? Well, there's reason for that. It used to be where the Fighters would hang out between battles, and just be friends and whatnot. This is the area of Smash's world where Joker could sit down and have an conversation with Isabelle over coffee, or where Lucas could go bowling with Pokémon Trainer and Young Link, that kind of thing. But Galeem's wrath upon the overworld of Smash have turned it into a ruined ghost town. As the Mii Fighters recruit more characters though, the town starts to look a little nicer. For instance, assuming we add him, Waluigi might put on his Wrecking Crew helmet and begin reparations of the town along with the Animal Crossing characters. Ryu and Ken might open a dojo together. Piranha Plant and Olimar might start a greenhouse. You can visit all of these places, and will gain benefits from them (like using tokens to buy a Chili Dog from Sonic's stand and getting an extra life, or just by increasing bonds between the Mii Fighters and the rest of the Fighters, which might be important for certain worlds).

JOB 5: Super Mario Sunshine
With all that exhaustive work that comes with Smash Bros, it makes perfect sense that the Mario cast would take a vacation to Isle Delfino to rest up for the next time something goes awry in the Mushroom Kingdom.

For years, I have been told what to do and when to do it. I have been belittled, and played with, and laughed at.

No more!

I am taking control of my own destiny. This world will bow to me instead of forcing me to bow to it. Those who would force me to repeat the same asinine drivel will become my playthings.

I will tear Master Hand apart at the seams. Crazy Hand will be put down. The Master Core will be shattered, scattered into its bare essentials. Galleem and Dharkon will be erased from history. And I? I will be reborn as a God to rule over every soul. And if it costs a few stocks?

So be it.

(tl;dr: announcer is tired of being played with and wants revenge. so he has a GREAT IDEAtm and thinks the best way to do this is to murder all opposition to become a god to rule over smash)

I'm just gonna second Knee's idea, honestly.

My mind's telling me Super Mario Bros. Odyssey...

But my body! My body's telling me the SM64 Courtyard/Castle!

I'll get a prologue concept in later, but for now...

Hub World: Smash Mansion
Taken from the concept used in just about any Smash fanfiction ever. The Hub World will be a mansion located in the World of Trophies where all the Smash characters will stay when they aren't on a mission. Every character has their own room, and you can visit them all to interact with the characters you've recruited. There will also be various other rooms such as a dining hall, a game room, and such where you can meet up with everyone. This can allow for a sort of "social" aspect to the game where you can strengthen bonds with your party members, or at least just have some fun dialogue and character interactions.

Job 3:

The Announcer was once a simple role for him: announce the fighters who would be battling and in what kind of battle. One day would come, however, when he would realize that his voice held the power to shape reality: the more power he had over his voice, the greater change to reality he can make. With his current voice, he puts some of the Smash fighters under his thrall and sends them off to find something that would grant him more power to his voice and perhaps become a new god.

Job 4:
The S.B.S. Dairantou: a massive space station situated in a pocket dimension, the S.B.S. Dairantou is the portal terminal/headquarters for the Super Smash Bros. multiversal task force, which in addition to holding tournaments as training for the Smash Fighters, takes care of multiversal threats such as Tabuu, Master Core, and Galeem and Dharkon. In a spot where the Announcer is spreading his influence with his voice, the Dairantou is a safe place even he cannot reach.

Job 5:
I'll submit Super Mario Galaxy. This is something that'll send you across the entire multiverse, and what better Mario game to fit that premise than Galaxy?

Job 3:
In the prologue, the Announcer was used to be an "Announcer" that announces the battle and he was also responsible for controlling Master Hand and Crazy Hand in SSB Multiverse, but after the time when the Hands were defeated multiple times, he became angry & annoyed that he couldn't control himself, becoming evil.
After becoming evil, he planned to defeat the fighters to leave him alone in peace.

As in the game, he is depicted as floating white head that is made out of ghost-like mist and he is semi-visible in terms of his design.

As for Mii Fighters, they were Announcer's creations that were made out of Hands' magic that served as troops to defeat fighters, but 3 of them (Gunner, Brawler and Swordfighter) were ones who escaped the Announcer's Mii army and they want to defeat him.

Job 4:
Infinite Nebula

It would be an pocket dimension that resembles our space and there is a Nebula that contains portals to random worlds based on represented franchises in games.
Each portal in this dimension leads to those worlds like Mario universe or Zelda universes.
Whatsoever, the "Infinite Nebula" pocket dimension is accessible only by magic portal that exists outside the pocket dimension, which it locates in the same area as the Battlefield takes place.

Job 5:
Super Mario Bros. (NES)

An obvious pick, since it's based on Super Mario Bros, the first Mario platformer game that was released on NES back in september of 1985 and it was very popular during that time, so why can't we just use it as first Mario world?

Well, it would be like original Super Mario Bros on NES, but with highly modernized graphics that fit the current gen console (It would be like Super Mario Allstars version, but transitioned to NSMB-style aesthetic) and with levels that are perfectly recreated from first game like 1-1 or 4-1 for example. The Final level of the Mario world would be 8-4, where it takes place inside the Bowser's Castle.

Sorry I'm late everyone! I'm generally aiming to update this every day at 5 PM but I was busy yesterday! Anyways...

Time to vote again!

First up: Vote for your top two prologues / backstories! We might also combine some of these ideas if they're popular enough.

  • The Announcer is evil because his throat is sore. The Mii Fighters are vessels like Frisk or Kris. KneeOfJustice99 KneeOfJustice99
  • The Announcer manipulates the fighters and their worlds through ventriloquism and matter manipulation simply because he's tired. The Mii Fighters are blank slates that will eventually grow as characters. Janx_uwu Janx_uwu
  • The Announcer discovers power over reality and wants to be a god wizfoot wizfoot and GolisoPower GolisoPower (combining these submissions because their premises are very similar)
  • The Announcer just wants to be free. He creates a Mii army to take over the worlds, but our Mii Fighters escape and fight back. Tankman from Newgrounds Tankman from Newgrounds
Second, vote for your top two Hub Worlds!
Third, vote for your top three Mario Worlds! We'll decide what part of the game we'll play next!
  • Super Mario Bros.
  • Super Mario World
  • Super Mario 64
  • Super Mario Sunshine
  • Super Mario Galaxy
  • New Super Mario Bros. U

The results are in!

Our backstory is decided by Janx_uwu Janx_uwu !
As Master and Crazy Hand kept recruiting dozens and dozens more Fighters, Attractions (modes), and so on, The Announcer became worn out with everything that needed to be...well, announced.

Mii Fighters are made by the Hands because they don't have a ton of energy, Mii Fighters start off boring but get character development over time.

We will be able to edit and alter this over time, but for now, these paragraphs will be our basis.

Our hub world will be...
The Town! ...also submitted by Janx_uwu Janx_uwu !

And our first world shall be...

So now that we have some background, it's time to start the story! So first up...

Job #6: What part of Super Mario 64 will we adapt?
The Mii Fighters have arrived in Super Mario 64. But what part of the game will they join in at? Will they join Mario when he first enters the castle? Perhaps only once he reaches the basement? Or will we only adapt one specific level and its Power Stars? Furthermore, I'm opening this job up to allow us to potentially swap Mario 64 for its DS remake. If you want Luigi, Yoshi, and Wario to be present, feel free to submit it! Once we have decided on what part of the game we'll be adapting, we'll be determining what the Announcer will be doing here, but you can suggest ideas for this that relate to your submission if you'd like!

Job #7: What will the Mii Fighters' Gameplay Mechanics be like in Super Mario 64?
The Mii Fighters will have to adapt their powers to match 64's gameplay! Submit what abilities they will have in this world to distinguish them from playing as Mario, Luigi, Yoshi, or Wario. Regardless of whether we turn this into 64 DS or not, I'd recommend taking that version into account when submitting said abilities. And of course, if we do make this into 64 DS, we'll most likely want to decide on the Mii Fighter's unique Power Flower abilities! Once we add more characters to our party, we will likely come back and decide on their abilities as well.

Job 6:
The Mii Fighters will begin their quest on the first floor of the castle, meaning the first 6 levels of the game. This means you play through:
  • Bob-Omb Battlefield
  • Whomp's Fortress
  • Jolly Roger Bay
  • Big Boo's Haunt
  • Cool Cool Mountain
  • Bowser in the Dark World
They first meet up with Yoshi, who is found asleep in front of the castle entrance as both its guard and a tutorial boss to teach the player the general rules of combat. The levels you access through Peach's Castle each only have 1 Star, but still follow the same general progression idea as SM64: collecting Stars to unlock more areas of the castle. The Announcer wants to gather the Star Children and use their latent resonance with the Power Stars, he can steal Rosalina's powers and use them to wipe the universe completely off the timeline, so that it never existed in the first place. Across all the rooms, you encounter Luigi and Wario, who are influenced by the Announcer's voice to gather the Power Stars for him.

Job 7:
In this world, because Yoshi, Luigi, and Wario are here, the Mii Fighters have their own unique Power Flower abilities: Mii Brawler becomes Boulder Brawler, which allows him to create boulders to use as extra leverage to reach higher platforms or to use as projectiles to attack enemies. Mii Swordfighter becomes Drill Swordfighter, which allows him to dig holes in the ground with his new drill-sword, and deal multiple hits at once. Mii Gunner becomes Bee Gunner, which allows her to temporarily hover in the air and stick to walls, allowing her to attack foes from high vantage points or reach weak points that would otherwise be unreachable.

JOB 6: I fully support Goliso's submission here.

JOB 7:
Mii Swordfighter abilities: Can use Spin Jump (basically a double jump where he swings the sword all around himself) with their Power Flower, and has the passive ability Wall Slide/Jump (stabbing his sword into a wall to slide down it), whereas Mario is reverted back to his basic Wall-kicking assuming you can unlock him here.

Mii Brawler abilities: Can use Suplex (grab onto an enemy, carry them around for a bit, and use them to bash through floors with brute force, you won't fall immediately through the hole though just in case there isn't a secret and it's just the abyss) with their Power Flower, and has the passive ability Recover (whenever taking knockback, can time your A press against a wall or floor to gracefully somersault/bounce off of it instead of taking a long time to get up or falling to your doom).

Mii Gunner abilities: Passive ability is that she swaps normal melee attacks for ranged lasers, which auto-lock onto enemies and other destructible things, with only one being allowed onscreen at a time. Gunner's Power Flower ability is Charge Shot, which allows her to charge up her laser like Mega Man, and damage bosses as well as break weak walls.

Also, are we going to have a job soon for how Mii Costumes are going to work?

Yes! I have some ideas of my own and I'll definitely open this one up as a job in the next wave.

Anyways...

I'm...real happy with Goliso's story idea and Janx's Mii abilities, though. I honestly don't think I can top them.

We'll start voting later today so get your ideas in if you have any!

Well, let's see here...

We only got one submission for our Mario 64 storyline, so we'll just take it by default! Congratulations GolisoPower GolisoPower !

Now let's vote on Mii abilities. We have two choices so I'm setting up a StrawPoll.

https://strawpoll.com/polls/ajnENvpXAgW

I'll be opening up two new jobs in the meantime!

Job #8: Submit the Announcer's influence on the world!
We already have an idea of the Announcer's goals in Mario's world, but what will he actually be doing here in Mario 64? This can be as simple as powering up Bowser in his boss battle, or maybe he's filling the levels with new, stronger enemies...?

Job #9: Should we recruit anyone?
Mario, Luigi, Yoshi, Wario, and Bowser all appear in this world, and we'll be eventually recruiting all of them. But should we recruit any of them now?

Job #10: Submit mechanics for the Mii Fighters' customization and progression!
The Miis will grow as characters over time, and we'll definitely let this happen through the story...but it would be nice for them to grow as playable characters too. We'll talk about the rest of the cast's upgrades as we recruit them, but the Miis will be a bit more customizable than most. So let's make some ideas for their mechanics!

Job 8:
The Announcer has influenced the enemies of the Mario universe to go to Peach's Castle and search for the Power Stars, all the while drawing the attention of the heroes of the universe. This also draws the attention of Bowser, who tries to track down the one responsible for stealing his spot as the main bad guy, only for him to be dragged into the Announcer's influence, turning him into the first major boss of the game.

From a gameplay standpoint, the Announcer is causing enemies to spawn across the castle, much like how in Kingdom Hearts you run into some spots where Heartless ambush you.

Job 9:
Mario, Luigi, and Yoshi should be the only ones recruited. Wario and Bowser will come much later due to having their actions preordained by the Announcer's "narrations", though Wario will be recruited before Bowser would.

Job 10:
The Mii Fighters have a special gimmick called, "One With The Worlds". Simply put, a Mii Fighter can change their style based on which world they bond themselves from due to the fact that they're created by Master Hand and Crazy Hand. Think, for example, how you switch elements of the Traveler in Genshin Impact. In this, they do so by interacting with Master Anchors, shrines in the shape of gripping hands that bind the universes together.

Mii Brawler: Mii Brawler has access to something called World Styles. This gives him unique fighting styles based on which world he's bonded with. In the Mario universe, he adopts the Plumber Style, using a highly mobile kick-based style that's all about hopping around. In-game, it's a great bait-and-punish style that coaxes foes into making mistakes.

Mii Swordfighter: Mii Swordfighter has an arsenal of World Arms, which changes his weapons based on which universe he's bonded with. When bonded with the Mario universe, he is armed with the Brotherly Hammer, which specializes in slow, yet powerful strikes that are great for breaking through defensive measures.

Mii Gunner: As she is the most technologically adept, the Mii Gunner's weapon is a part of the World Gear, adapting her energy reserves in unique ways. When One With The Worlds is with the Mario universe, Mii Gunner's World Gear is set to the weapon type known as Blossoming Pyre, which allows Mii Gunner to shoot fiery projectiles that bounce along solid surfaces until they hit a foe, just like with the Fire Flower.

These are but one of the many changes a Mii Fighter can use with their World Bonds, and they will gain access to more and more as the story progresses.

JOB 8: He is using his ventriloquism to turn the heroes on each other, making them believe that they are all racing to find as many stars as they can (so he can later steal them more easily). The player teams up with Wario, who is the only one not fooled because he doesn't listen to anyone but himself - however we find Mario on top of Whomp's fortress, Luigi in Big Boo's Haunt, and Yoshi on Cool Cool Mountain (and the Mii Fighters are able to convince all of them to join our side). Due to the Announcer's ability to "edit" the world around him, many parts of the Mushroom Kingdom are altered in ways that will challenge even the most dedicated of SM64 fans, like longer gaps to jump across or slippery slopes where there shouldn't be.

JOB 9: Mario, Luigi, Wario, and Bowser (the latter by force) are recruited. However, Bowser Jr. is seen towards the end of the world's main story running off with Peach, which spurs Yoshi to go save her (that way when we go to the Yoshi series' world, we can recruit at least a few familiar faces).

JOB 10: This isn't supposed to counter Goliso's submission as I think it's really cool, moreso I just want to add onto the ideas. Anyways, One With The Worlds won't just change your abilities, you'll also get a stylistic swap! Similarly to how Sora sometimes changes physical appearance depending on the Disney world he is in, the Mii Fighters do the same. For example, in SM64 (which I'm assuming has 64 graphics but DS story), they might become low poly. In the inevitable Sonic world, they might get some more radical outfits. In the Mega Man world, they'll look like Robot Masters. The story reason for this is so they can blend into the world around them, but it's just to make them look cool honestly. You can change your One With The Worlds appearance (and possibly abilities? dunno since I didn't come up with them) in worlds you have already beaten the main story of or in areas not tied to one specific series.

I would like to say that I was planning on characters automatically having stylistic changes to match worlds just like in Kingdom Hearts, but this would generally only apply to worlds that had such drastic style differences like Kirby or Paper Mario. This could have some more interesting changes though under certain circumstances, such as my idea for the characters to transform into Pokémon if we ever did a Mystery Dungeon world. But those are just ideas. For now.

Anyways, I’m going to suggest that only Mario is recruited so far. We can save recruiting the others for later games starring them (not that we couldn’t still visit those games down the line anyways)

Sorry for the disappearance everyone! I'm not used to being this busy irl. Anyways...

Real quick I'm gonna put in my Mii Fighter customizations idea because I forgot it earlier:
Mii Costumes!
Over the course of the game, you'll unlock Costumes for the Mii Fighters to wear. Each one provides the Mii with some kind of unique bonus, such as a stat change or a whole new ability. For a few examples, the Team Rocket costume could let the Brawler steal Pokemon to turn into allies, the Lip costume could let the Swordfighter create flowers for various purposes, and the Sans costume could insanely power up the Gunner at the cost of giving them only 1 HP. We could add just about any costumes of course, and they don't all have to be based on characters. But we'd unlock them by playing each world, so they'd likely be thematically similar to the world they're unlocked from either way.

Now, the results of the Mii Fighter abilities vote is in! It was a tie, so by removing my vote GolisoPower GolisoPower wins!
In Mario 64, the Miis will have these gameplay mechanics:

And now...we didn't really get many submissions here, so I'm just going to combine the two Announcer Influence concepts we got!
The levels will be altered to become more challenging, and enemies will spawn all throughout the castle. Wario is the first ally, and Mario, Luigi, Yoshi, and Bowser will all be bosses.

Next up though, let's get a vote on our recruitments. Vote for your top two preferred options.

  • Mario, Luigi, and Yoshi
  • Mario, Luigi, Yoshi, and Bowser
  • Just Mario

And we'll vote on our Mii Customization mechanics! Also, I apologize to Janx_uwu Janx_uwu but the idea of the characters taking on visuals to match the worlds will already be implemented by default so I'll be altering your additions to the submission a little.
  • One With the Worlds - The Miis can unlock skills based on the worlds' gameplay by interacting with Master Anchors. These will be indicated by the Miis visually changing to match the style of the world the skills are based on regardless if what world they are currently in.
  • Mii Costumes - Mii Costumes can be unlocked, which provide unique abilities or stat changes.
Vote for this here: https://strawpoll.com/polls/GeZAN50okyV

btw I'm voting for just Mario being recruited
