I think Zelda is set on stages, so giving the other three props. Wuhu Island is a great catch-all Nintendo locale, and the other two would do a good deal to supplement their respective series representation.

1. Burt the Bashful
2. Ruto

I do really like the idea of Wii Fit Trainer, but we have a lot of quirky ATs already so I think we could probably stand for a couple more direct ones.

Here are the votes:

Wuhu Island 11
Indigo Plateau 7
Tal Tal Heights
Arena Ferox 6

Wuhu Island is the final stage.

Wii Fit Trainer 1
Princess Ruto 7
Burt the Bashful 4

Princess Ruto is the last assist.

Since we have completed the character and stage roster, I’ll set up a check in.

Check-In: How do you feel about the base game content? What did you like seeing in the final base game content, and what would you have liked to see instead? What do you hope to see added for the DLC portion? What feedback do you have with the formatting of the game?
In terms of fighters, I liked the lineup overall. We have most of the major players in addition to some nice curveballs. The only characters that I’d probably change are Sami and Pneuma for maybe Fox/Ness and Toy Link. Pokemon Trainer and Aegis together are a little jarring at forst glance, but they are cool ideas, and Pokemon Trainer and Aegis have been the best implementations of a transforming fighter in the actual series. One other thing that I liked was the gender balance with this roster. In terms of stages, the stage selection was creative overall, and I think that I would have replaced Brinstar with a more original stage. For DLC, I think my biggest want is to have a few curveball picks and not have it just being heavy hitters. Like Melee, there are a few heavy hitters missing, and they’ll probably join the DLC roster (Wario, Diddy Kong, Ganon(dorf), Meta Knight, and Charizard/Mewtwo/Lucario for starters), and I think we strike a balance.
For DLC, I’d like to have feedback on this approach: submit the bonus fighter and later stage, moveset and recolors. For the Fighter Packs, the top two fighters from each pack (four total) get added to each fighter pack. Similarly, the stages, recolors, and movesets are then decided.

I’ll leave submissions up until tomorrow.

DLC Job 1: Submit a bonus fighter.

While I previously nominated her for the final assist trophy job, I think the Wii Fit Trainer would still be an appropriate choice for the bonus fighter. She represents the Wii era, which is a major part of Nintendo’s history, and fills a role of the very unconventional fighter.
Also, feel free to submit 6 history cards.
Bob-Omb King (Paper Mario)
Tiny Kong (Donkey Kong)
Tetra (Legend of Zelda)
Micaiah (Fire Emblem)
Bonkers (Kirby)
Waddle Doo (Kirby)

DLC Job

Rhythm Troupe (Rhythm Heaven)

rhyhtm.png

Rhythm Heaven's most recent entry was in 2015, so it would be relatively reasonable to add it at this time. Based off the Fan Smashified concept, I wanted to do a group character like the Duck Hunt trio, this would consist of the Girl in the red dress, a monkey, and a Chorus Kid, all of which that are considered mascots of the series. They would obviously use a rhythm based moveset. I choose this because I wanted to include more smaller 1st Parties before we got into the full DLC. I was torn between this and adding a missing veteran from Ultimate, but I decided on this since this would be a more wacky concept, and the veteran I was thinking of would be likelier to win in a regular character pack than as a bonus character.

DLC Job 1: R.O.B. (Gyromite)
View attachment 397577
Imagine it’s 2021 and Nintendo have just released their cool new crossover fighting game for the very first time.

R.O.B. makes sense here. It doesn’t have a stage in Smash proper anyway. A goofy retro character would be fitting.

History Cards:
  • Whomp (Mario)
  • Dry Bowser (Mario)
  • N (Pokémon)
  • Wally (Pokémon)
  • Nia (Blade) (Xenoblade)
  • Builder Mario (Mario)
Do assist trophies deconfirm fighters in this thread?

This game doesn’t have the Miis, but I think they should be represented somehow, so why not represent the most popular Mii game, Wii Sports!

DLC Job 1: Waddle Dee (Kirby)
1734218760382.png
I attempted to get Waddle Dee in once before, as a late stage derivative a la Jigglypuff. That didn't pan out, but now might be an even better time. Piranha Plant has kind of set the standard for bonus fighters in my eyes, someone a bit less conventional or exciting in and of themselves who still adds something flavorful and surprising to the roster dynamic. Hence, I will continue to follow its example and nominate a generic enemy. If it works it works.

Although the thing about Waddle Dee is this, they are probably the most heavily merchandised element of Kirby outside of the pink blob himself. They have their own portal on the official Kirby site alongside Dedede and Meta Knight - not Bandana Dee, just "Waddle Dee" as a whole. Of course Bandana Dee would be represented here as well, but probably as a costume alongside Sailor Dee and so forth. I also assume we may already have Waddle Dee models in the game, as part of Dedede's entrance and victory animations. So this would be an easy asset flip, represent an important part of a popular series, and frankly I think may just be a fun fighter in their own right whichever direction we want to go with it.

This is something that we should have addressed in the DLC job. With the bonus DLC job being akin to something like Mewtwo or Piranha Plant, I’ll say assist trophies are not allowed for this round, but I’ll set up a poll to see if we’ll allow assist promotions and third parties for future DLC.

1. Rhythm Troupe
2. Wii Fit Trainer
3. Waddle Dee

Honestly, I like all five of these nominations. I have the Rhythm Troupe as my lead vote as the concept is a novel idea. Waddle Dee sounds like a fun take on the mook.

Also, here are pulls to determine if assist trophy promotions and third parties be allowed as future DLC.

Also, feel free to submit 6 history cards.
