LEGO Dimensions?
In 2015, TT Games released a toys-to-life game called LEGO Dimensions. LEGO Dimensions combined many different franchises into one game, but as LEGO. You just had to put down characters, vehicles, and gadgets on to the LEGO Gateway and they would spawn into the game. For example, you could have Sonic the Hedgehog driving the Delorean Time Machine at Hogwarts or have Scooby Doo team up with Mr. T and Voldemort to fight GLaDOS, the possibilities were limitless. LEGO Dimensions even had a story mode where you could play as Batman, Gandalf, and Wildstyle to stop the evil villain, Lord Vortech, from ruling the LEGO Multiverse. Sadly, everything changed when the toys-to-life formula started to die out. In late 2017, LEGO Dimensions was officially cancelled, ending one of the greatest crossovers of all time.

What is LEGO Dimensions 2 about?
With this thread, we are rewriting history with the creation of a sequel to LEGO’s toys to life hit. In this fake new reality, LEGO and TT Games decided it was time to make a new LEGO Dimensions game after all these years with the toys-to-life formula again. It’s up to all of us on SmashBoards to team up and make this new game. We will be making new character packs, a new story mode, new levels, new cutscenes, new mechanics, new hub-worlds, new dialogue, etc. All the characters and vehicles/gadgets from the previous game will also return with a few updates. We will building this new game, one brick at a time!

Franchise: Star Wars

Abilities:
  • Target
  • Cursed Red LEGO Object

Gateway:

The gateway should be red in color, it would resemble more of a clock due to the concept of space-time fitting more into the game, the face of the clock would have a swirly substance in the middle acting as the portal with the clock hands acting as the places where you insert the figures, by turning the hands of the clock you can have a variety of effects happen in game.

Story Mode:

Its a couple years after the first game. Everyone has went back to their lives and things are mostly pretty peaceful.

But something ancient is stirring.

In New York City, Spider-Man chases after the Shocker. In Looney World, Bugs does his usual trick with Elmer Fudd, and on the Death Star, Vader is training with his lightsaber.

Suddenly things begin to turn strange. New York comes under attack by the Martians of Looney Tunes fame, Looney World is beset by the Empire, and on the Star Wars universe Alderaan is attacked by Ronan and the Kree.

Portals begun opening up in these worlds, merging various worlds together. Vader gets in a tie fighter to investigate, Spider-Man swings in himself, and Bugs kind of accidently gets roped in.

They find themselves floating in space time before they are rescued by Doctor Strange, who brings them to his Sanctum Sanctorum, where he explains that the Multiverse is beginning to fold in on itself.

After the events of the first game, travel between dimensions has become more common. But because of this the walls are breaking apart and now an ancient being once lost to time is starting to escape the prison it was sealed in long ago. It's last plot, done via proxy, Lord Vortech, was foiled, but now it's coming in its true form. It's now up to our three unlikely heroes to try and stop it.

Levels (1/21):

Arrr Ya Ready Kids? (Level 1)

Franchise: SpongeBob SquarePants
Minikit Number: 10
Story/Layout: This is a fairly short level that's primarily meant for tutorial purposes. It starts with Dr. Strange telling Spidey, Bugs, and Vader that he has detected a Dimension that's been breached by a mysterious force, and he sends them through a rift to investigate.
After being flung through the rift, Spidey, Bugs, and Vader crash land in the middle of Jellyfish Fields. They immediately discover that they're underwater, thus triggering a comedic scene where Spidey and Bugs wonder how they're able to breathe normally down here. Vader, who wants absolutely nothing to do with these two goofballs, starts setting off on his own to find out where he is. Spidey and Bugs follow him anyway...
After a little exploration in Jellyfish Fields, which serves as a nice little tutorial of sorts for the trio's basic abilities, they learn that they all need each other to progress...much to the annoyance of Vader. Together, they make it past the Fields and arrive in Bikini Bottom. In town, the trio comes across Conch Street, where Squidward is lounging outside. He comments on the trio looking stupid and out of place, causing Vader to threaten him with his lightsaber. Spidey and Bugs stop him though. Soon afterwards, a loud crash is heard coming from town, and Spidey runs off to see what it is. Bugs follows behind, but Vader refuses to investigate. Bugs then stretches his arm from offscreen to grab Vader by the cape and drag him along with them.
In town, Plankton is attacking with a giant robot. This is the first boss fight, and it's nothing especially difficult. After taking him down, the trio discovers the robot was built from Entropy bricks. Plankton explains that he doesn't know where he got them or what they were really made of, but he knew they were powerful, and he hoped that using them would help him get ahold of the Secret Formula. Spidey takes the bricks, and Dr. Strange soon brings them back to the Sanctum so he can see them for himself. The first mission was a success. But things will only get more hectic from here...

Fun Packs (Chronological Order):
1. The Flash Fun Pack
2. Missy Fun Pack

???

???

???

Seed Planter:

Character plants one of the various seeds into the ground in a specific spot to grow into various helpful plants, this can be a tomato to create a bouncy spring like platform, corn to create a cannon to launch yourself, wheat to block off spikes, and water, watermelons to create rolling balls and of course carrots that act as an explosive rocket. The limitation to this power is that the produce will wilt after growing, will despawn if taken too far from the spawn location, and again you need to spawn it in select locations.
Characters with this ability includes: Bugs Bunny

Pancake:

Characters are immune to being crushed these can help in the long run. Characters can be flattened by a crusher-type obstacle and can go under small gaps and go inside paper-thin vents allowing access to new areas.
Characters with this ability includes: Bugs Bunny

Big Bite:

Characters can break through walls made out of wood or edible matter such as cheese or cake, characters can also break armor off of certain enemies like removing a knight's shield or a football player's helmet to make them easier to deal with.
Characters with this ability includes: Bugs Bunny

Telekinesis:

Telekinesis allows characters to carry enemies and objects and toss them back at them or use them as a shield. This can be used to move objects away from walls and hit tough-to-reach spots as well as shield the user from heavy fire.
Characters with this ability includes: Darth Vader

???

Franchises:
Looney Tunes
Star Wars
Marvel
SpongeBob SquarePants

Job #1: Submit a theme/brand for the starter pack

LEGO Dimensions featured three big themes for the starter pack that were currently partnered with LEGO: DC Comics, Lord of the Rings, and the Lego Movie. The three most voted themes/brands will be selected. We will then go down by most voted to determine who will be selected from each theme to be a main character in the story for LEGO Dimensions 2. The brand/themes must be a current partner with LEGO and have no presence in the previous game. Above there is a list of packs and franchises from the previous game.

Below is a list of themes/brands I gathered from the online LEGO store and LEGO Ideas.

You can submit the spin-off themes in the parentheses next to Disney/Pixar and Marvel Comics separately if you like. If Disney/Pixar or Marvel wins, I will allow the spin-offs to still be submitted for characters and vehicles/gadgets as well. If a spin-off theme wins, I will only allow characters associated with that specific spin-off theme.
If there is a theme/brand LEGO is currently partnered with for sets not on the list or have any questions if a theme/brand is eligible, feel free to message me.

Info for the future:
  • The top three most voted themes/brands will be selected
  • Selected themes/brands will a huge presence in the game, in both packs and story mode
  • One character will be selected from each theme to be in the starter pack
  • One character from each theme/brand will have a huge part in the story mode as a main character

Given that DC was a major aspect to the first Dimensions game (with Batman being in the original pack, and one of the very few characters to have gotten more than one variant in-game), I think it'd only be fair for Marvel to get its turn now that Disney Infinity isn't a direct competitor for us to have to deal with. Marvel is packed with all sorts of interesting characters we could play with here - whilst the more obvious ones spring to mind for the early packs, like Spider-Man, Iron Man and Wolverine, I think that some more unusual characters would be fun to see here too. Whilst this does feel like a little bit of a basic pick, it's also a pretty obvious one with a lot of potential.

Not only this, but the whole MCU situation - well, it's still going strong, isn't it? DC seems to have been in a bit of a lull in recent years, so I think Marvel being the headline act whilst DC takes a backseat (but still gets a presence!) would be a good way to handle it (at least in my mind.) Also, it doesn't hurt that we've already got games like LEGO Marvel Superheroes and the like to act as a basis for our movesets, right?

I had an idea to make a creation thread about this forever but never got around to it. Now, I’m happy it’s been finally created.

Job 1

LEGO Looney Tunes

C593ED30-D99F-412B-B461-1F5490CCFF71.jpeg

Given the first three mini figures in the original LEGO Dimensions starter pack were Warner Bros characters, we should stick to that. Plus, Looney Tunes was planned to get a set in LEGO Dimensions. Therefore, why not include WB’s biggest property? With Space Jam: A New Legacy being a recent film and being crossover heavy, Looney Tunes would be a logical choice to start off the sequel to LEGO Dimensions. Bugs Bunny would be the character that would go in the starter pack. You can also have packs with Daffy Duck, Porky Pig, Wily E Coyote, etc.

Super Mario (Nintendo)
1650554770815.png

Super Mario, the one of most popular Nintendo series and one of most iconic video game series, which it was by Shigeru Miyamoto. Super Mario games are usually platformers that revolve around Mario trying to save princess Peach from evil King Koopa Bowser.

There is a lot of potential from series to use in Lego dimensions like vehicles (Mario Kart for example) or even other stuff like Power Ups for example.

Mario is one of choices that should've been in Lego Dimensions, because the series are so Iconic that all people have heard about it and it released new Super Mario sets in 2020, which is also cool.
Perhaps we could use the LEGO Mario model in game, which it has unique shape and it would be new approach to newer direction of character designs of LEGO history.

You've got to be kidding me... I was just about to finish my submission right when you did that. Had to share it anyway, so please forgive me, evanwoo10 evanwoo10 .

Job #1: Starter Pack Brand - Super Mario

I know what people are going to think as the franchise is heavily Nintendo-exclusive, but hey, you cannot deny Mario's importance to the video game industry, so there's no need to tell the plot or anything else, except that he was once claimed to be more famous than a certain cartoon mouse back at the 1990's. With even a fact that the CGI-animated film created by both Nintendo and Illumination is coming this December.

So yeah, back to the main part, Nintendo and LEGO has announced a partnership involving LEGO sets based on Super Mario in Mario Day (March 10) and later released them in late July 2020 at Target, with new waves of various sets still coming up. The brand is quite different as it was more like a expansive, interactive board game rather than those traditional minifigure/building stuff.

Considering how Sonic the Hedgehog, Portal and various Midway arcade IPs were added in the first LEGO Dimensions, and how Mega Man was apparently considered to be included as one of the Year 3 franchises until it was cancelled, with Nintendo having allowed Activision to add special playable amiibos of Bowser and Donkey Kong for the Wii U/Switch versions of Skylanders SuperChargers and Imaginators, I think it would make sense to include Super Mario as one of the new video game-originated franchises for this sequel.

Since official LEGO Super Mario sets doesn't have any minifigures at all and how they wouldn't fit into the Toy Pad and character tags (models already look cursed, anyway), characters would be completely re-worked similarly like those custom minifigures (with Bowser and potentially Donkey Kong being Big-Figs). The starter pack obviously includes the world-famous plumber himself, with fellow characters like Peach, Luigi, Wario, Yoshi, etc. appearing in other packs and possibly many potential choices for vehicles (like Koopa airships and karts themselves) and gadgets (power-ups). Maybe even consider other Nintendo IPs such as The Legend of Zelda and Metroid in future jobs?

I wanted to clarify a few things:

This job is to pick our three themes/brands that will be apart of our starter pack. We can’t have only one theme with three characters, that would interfere with our crossover aspect. Once our first job concludes, our next jobs will be picking one character from each of the themes that won. You are free to say who you think should be a starter pack character for the theme you submit, but we will be making the final decisions as a group in separate jobs.

Our submission period will last until 24 hours after my Job #1 post. If you have any questions, feel free to ask me!

Probably one of the biggest possible grabs for this game. Mickey would likely be the starter character but we could also have the chance to do sets for beloved films like Frozen and Aladdin. Personally I feel Pixar should count too but I'd be fine keeping it with core properties.

Ill just sit out for now
We are doing current themes/brands partnered with LEGO, I even have a list of some in my first job post. Bionicle isn’t currently eligible, but we will be branching off into different properties in the near future (that will make Bionicle to be eligible for submission, among others not on the list). You are welcome anytime to participate in any current jobs if you like!

Monkie Kid is one of LEGO's best original themes in years, It has incredibly unique and inventive sets that have insane detail and fun callbacks but also a TV show with animation that goes disgustingly hard.

Minecraft is a relatively newer theme but it has become one of Lego’s most prominent liscensed themes so they would make sense for an inclusion

1. Monkie Kid (I feel we should have a LEGO original brand in the starter pack for sure.)
2. Looney Tunes (Self-vote but Looney Tunes was planned to get content in LEGO Dimensions until production ceased. Plus, I want to stick to the theme of 2 Warner Bros characters plus one LEGO character, so Looney Tunes should be in.)
3. Star Wars (It’s not WB but the LEGO Star Wars movies were distributed by Warner’s home video brand plus the Clone Wars was on Cartoon Network. Plus, Star Wars was LEGO’s first licensed brand so there’s that.)

I feel like we should get something Mario related but it would be Nintendo-exclusive and maybe come later down the line for sure. Just not for the starter pack in my opinion.

Knowing Nintendo they would probably have mario replace one of the characters in the starter pack like they did for Bowser and DK in Skylanders Superchargers Wii and Wii u version respectivly

Okay, here's my own take.

1. Looney Tunes. (This feels like an overall very solid and obvious choice. It's a recognisable series with a very unique vibe and lots of potential for characters and content - my own personal pick for this would have to be getting a Comic-Con polybag of the Green Loontern.)
2. Monkie Kid. (I think a "LEGO" theme character being here is a very good choice, what with Wyldstyle's inclusion in the last game. Not only that, but Monkie Kid is packed with plenty of fun characters and an overall really appealing feel - unique from other lines like Ninjago and EXO-FORCE.)
3. Marvel. (Okay, I have a bit of explaining to do here. I think that whilst a lot of the other suggestions are amazingly fun, my own thinking here is in character abilities. With Marvel characters being, well, superheroes and supervillains, they'd each have a lot of unique abilities that other characters might not have access to - as well as bringing something unique overall! I'd also say it's useful to consider how many characters from DC have been added in the original game, most of whom were unique! Idk, it just feels like a natural fit to me somehow.)

However, I think literally every series here should be represented somehow or other. They all feel like really solid, natural picks for a game like this. :)

I think I’m just gonna vote for Looney Tunes and Monkie Kid

I wish I didn’t miss the initial theme voting because I would’ve suggested Stranger Things
You have to vote for you top three in this voting period.

There will also be more chances to submit more franchises to be added into the future, including Stranger Things! (just not for the starter pack)
