I like Near's ideas, that's why I would be fine with it. Regardless of other things, if he can get stuff done then cool.

Blue Yoshi has always had great ideas, he is like able (except a few random angry spazes >.>? ), and he has a great compromising ability. In all seriousness, it's extremely obvious that he is legit for the job.

Otherwise vote for me playboys. I'll get things done for you. Know what I mean?

lol a month ago, I had a very bad two weeks in a row... and just as school started up again... I probably should not have come on smashboards for that period. I'm sure everyone has had that situation happen to them at one point or another as well. Should not happen again, as the circumstances that made me stressed to that point should not happen again... and if it were, I know now not to post anything as extreme as I did. I apologized extremely to unknown, and now we're friends more than enemies

it's because the community is immature and incapable of making rational decisions. unknown brings up some legitimate reasons for why he's against near and people jump on him and call him biased for having an opinion. all while just voting for people they like and think are cool.

the ambassador may just be a messenger, but we'll want a messenger who's able to take what we discuss and turn it into a well thought out statement/proposal to whoever he has to answer to and to not make everybody look bad by losing his cool and responding like a child when somebody disagrees with/trolls/flames him.

I already said I don't think Near is the best one. So you know, the reason I prefer Blue Yoshi is because he's really likeable and posts pretty coherent stuff, and doesn't quite have that "ego".

The problem I have with near isn't JUST with him banning me... It goes further than that. However, since one of the reasons IS because of the ban, it's not "petty" as you so conveniently call it.

How is a permanent ban from his server "petty"? I did absolutely NOTHING to deserve that ban lol. Normally if there were a reason, I'd say like "because I owned him in an argument and he couldn't take it" or something like that, but there is seriously no reason as to why he banned me... Myself and many others have asked him and he just disregards everyone. Now, is that petty?

By the way, if you wish to further discuss this topic then we can in a PM or something. I believe we've taken this specific "grudge" topic as far as it needs to go in this thread.

I'm gonna let you guys in on a admin secret. When you're admin and you're well known because of that or some other factor there's going to be people that are going to dislike you for whatever reason and are going to try at their best to destroy you. Just ask Garuda, he was admin for a while and RANDOM people would call him a ****** etc and Garuda is one of the chillest people you can ever meet

My point is there's more pressure on the admin guy rather than that normal guy that plays smash on the weekends

EDIT: Oh and Unknown was banned because he kept breaking one of my server rules which is no advertising your site unless you have a tournament going on. Not to mention he also has that infamous hacking bot (in which is the reason a couple of people were banned as well)

lol, I've been madly stressed about school recently as well. One day I went on Galaxy and was getting pissed at about little stuff. So I can empathize with that. Later I realized I was just frustrated, and needed to chill. lol

Wow. Regarding your first paragraph, if you can't handle this TINY debate, how do you think you're going to handle being an ambassador with even more pressure? Come on man, grow up...

And regarding my ban. We DISCUSSED this in the main chat and everyone agreed how you were completely overreacting. I simply made the name of my rom "iXiGaming.net" and I get permabanned? I had that rom name for about a week or so without getting banned, but out of no where it's BAN BAN BAN! lmfao wtf man? Are you really THAT insecure? You are getting worse than the admins/mods at GW... I can't believe you really permabanned me for making a rom the name of my website and hosting it as a chat, NOT even promoting it/spamming the link AT ALL in the main chat or to anyone else... Dude, you really can't argue in your favor for banning me for that reason, it's just completely messed up and you're acting like a powerhungry child.

Now regarding that hacking bot... When have I EVER spammed the server or done anything with this "bot" that I have? Go ahead... Name ONE time... I'll wait...

Ok jokes and sarcasm aside, I'd join your site if you made it (I'd help you run it if you need the help). But I think we should go through with asking the admins on smashboards first to see if they'll make the changes we (eventually) suggest to them. Who knows... maybe they'll be willing to compromise. If they still don't do anything, then I think another site is a good idea.

I mean... we already showed our desire for improvements to the 64 boards in the combo video competition thread... to the point where we quite literally destroyed the thread.

Ok... now that I've made a thread that probably makes no sense, here's the summary:

I think we should finish creating our suggestions for the admins, then if that fails, resort to plan B, which is a new site. We'd get more new people on smashboards than on another site, so that's one good reason to stay here...

Regarding my ban: I completely disagree with you. People NEED to see this kind of stuff, otherwise why else have a vote for who should be recognized as an "ambassador"? That being said, people really need to read this and see that the people they THINK they know, aren't really who they SEEM...

Now regarding messaging near privately or anywhere outside of here. You want to know what near says to me? Even a few people, as aforementioned, have asked regarding my ban and he just shuns them off... I've even private messaged him on here... No response. So tell me, what is left? In my years of knowing many different smash communities, there are only a few genuine people who have never been two-faced and/or have never changed who they were: staying true to themselves. Say what you want with regards to that, but many of us know the truth.

1) he runs a server
2) he tries to better this community. for example, his poll thread, suggesting to move to another site that he will pay for himself, talking to the "big heads" at mlg about improving this community, and the list goes on.

Wow, Unknown, I think you need to take a deep breath. Plenty of people posted reasons Near was a good candidate, and they have been restated several times...the fact that he runs a server shows dedication on his part and willingness to act over just talking about things, as does the fact that he was already talking to the other site admins about this issue before the combo video thread even sparked this whole issue. Then you just come in here and say that he is a bad choice of candidate because he enforced his rules on his server and banned you?

I understand if you don't like him, that is a personal issue which is none of my business, but how does that give you reason to repeatedly attack him in here and claim that nobody has any reason to vote for him? I think you need to take your grudge to PMs. We've heard your complaints against Near. Suggest and vote for somebody you think would do a better job so we as a community can move on to the next phase (i.e. communicating with the admins to make improvements).

Lots of good candidates for ambassador have been named in this thread. I would still say that my top pick is a Near / Blue Yoshi team. I think an actual poll thread should be made though to make this a bit more official.

Near was the only one I asked that actually walked me through the process. Everyone always complains of not enough newcomers. Only Near actually delivers.

Many people help others like this or in other situations. If you're talking about that he was the only person who actually helped you that was on smashboards, then I wouldn't have an opinion on the matter since apparently I'm not too liked around these parts.

I would vote for Near/Wrath, whatever he wants to be called. He hosts his server, has the Premium Membership (bound to help), and is a pretty cool guy.

And Unknown, you are possessed and addicted to Near. We get it, you don't like him. Perhaps part of your personality showed itself and is related to why he banned you. Based on how you post here, I definitely would not want you in my server (if I had one). Your opinion on Near isn't going to affect anything, nor is it changing anyone's mind. You need to seriously simmer down and get over your ban. I love how you played the childish card on Near as well, as he briefly went over you in this thread, and every post of yours has been negative towards Near in some way. Even when he humbly started declining being the Ambassador, you attack him.

For example, we say person A has the most votes, closely behind person B, with person C getting a fair number of votes as well. Then they can decide who they want from there. There still is a purpose to this thread... (i.e. someone we don't want nominates himself and gets the spot and does nothing).

this could just be dealt with the PM to Virgilius they suggested

they can decide from the PMs they receive that person A got the most votes , person B got less votes ,etc...

I mean voting should be just about why person A should be chosen

but trying to shoot down person B and convince other why they shouldnt vote that person is pretty much electoral campaign-like and is exactly what this thread's discussion has turned into.

Near... need help? I play all four smash games competitively... at a high level as well. I've posted everywhere on the boards (melee character specific for like 7 characters, brawl character specific for another 5, and the list goes on).

I think only one person would get ignored... so maybe having two ambassadors would be better... if they allow it. I'm on smashboards often enough to be useful lol.

That's amusing. Why would I attempt to show-off/get friends by posting that? Even if that was the goal, I just play P2P with certain people so that would not have worked either way. And I agree, we did have a blast last time, but I wasn't aware of your anti-Near business at the time (again, I just play P2P with a few people on occasion). Also regarding the way you quoted me and replied, I doubt you understood anything I posted.

Another thing I've noticed is that throughout your posts, you've repeatedly mentioned and "casted your vote" per se for a different person, which I suppose is another indirect attempt to address your points against Near.

The 'ambassador' would actually be a discussion leader, which is a usergroup we've been using for a few months now. there are about a dozen discussion leaders, and they have a seperate forum in which they can interact more directly with mods/admins. Just don't want you guys to think that this person will have the weight of the world bearing down on them. Discussion leaders are just members from various parts of the smashboards community who are like representatives. Though I imagine the smash 64 community rep would be an 'ambassador' of sorts, since he/she would be repping a distinct group here.

But it might be helpful if some of the emerging candidates would PM me a short message explaining why they should be the rep for your community, and an idea or two on how to improve the smash64 board. I and probably a few other admins will then consider both the PM's and what's been said in this thread so far.

Theres not much secret really... Give this game the same treatment as the other two. Full visible section, in order to make people realise that this game is great and has an active community, aswell as people should figure out that they can play it online.
