As for the 64 people. I appreciate that you care and want to grow your community. Im all for people that want to do that, but could care less about people that just want to complain. So if you care about growing the community first step would be to get a great discussion leader as an ambassador for your community. PM any recommendations to "Virgilijus". Once appointed communicate anything and everything to that individual. You have ideas for contests, someone wants to write something for the smash news, whatever. He/She will have a direct link to me or other key staff and its a great way to make sure all your ideas get heard and we can make positive improvements.

This is the last I am going to post about that stuff in this thread. Like I said its not the place so I am going to ask everyone to respect that and take all other non combo video discussion elsewhere.
Ok who cares about growing this community? I do. I suggest someone who is active on these boards and plays both ssb64 and at least one other smash game becomes our 'ambassador' to try to improve everything smash64-related on these boards. I am not proposing myself btw as I prefer someone from North-America for this function; Europe and Australia and South-America are less involved with Smashboards in general and have their own communities. So, let's hear who is up for this and then let's discuss or vote to choose someone to represent our community. And of course if you disagree with anything in this post just say so.

Ooh, ambassador, sounds important.
Too bad I don't play melee or brawl. Haha.

I think it should be some known, top player, who also cares about this and he's active in the forums.

I already messaged Virgilijus. (I volunteered myself)

Now it's up to the people to recommend Near.

I'd post almost a paragraph on why I should be ambassador but mods/admins tend to not like that

So, if you know me and know all I do for the smash 64 community recommend me :p

Near... need help? I play all four smash games competitively... at a high level as well. I've posted everywhere on the boards (melee character specific for like 7 characters, brawl character specific for another 5, and the list goes on).

I think only one person would get ignored... so maybe having two ambassadors would be better... if they allow it. I'm on smashboards often enough to be useful lol.

Seeing as they probably only want one ambassador from the post, I'd nominate near over myself.

But reading that post, I think he made it clear he does not want to create a new section for smash 64.

I'd thought Brawl was the third.
Super Smash Brothers -> Super Smash Brothers Melee -> Super Smash Brothers Brawl
Did I miss a game somewhere?

i nominate near as well. he has been one of the few to actually take it upon himself to better this community, what with all of his recent ideas and all. now, i dont personally know near, and ive heard many not-so-good things about him through these boards, but im willing to give the guy a chance

I nominate myself because I'm gangsta like that.

Also in any situation once someone is nominated you don't keep nominating them xD

I also think Near would be good for the job ;]

I vote Near. He really does fit the job description, and is fairly positive and professional. I also don't know him personally, but he seems to always be looking out for the community.

Hasn't Near already been doing this? Or at least trying to, except people in authority here generally don't care about 64? Now that they've finally at least shown interest in letting this game get some exposure, I think Near should continue his work.

I told Malva that he would make a great mod on AIM a while back but he declined because he said he rarely goes on smashboards.

And thanks for the support so far guys.

I might be convinced if he made a west coast server
I've actually wanted to get a west coast server for a while now but the current host i have isn't doing LA servers at the time <__<

I'm fine with Near. I think I'd be a decent rep too.

I've played ssb64 online since May 2005 and I've also been playing competitive melee since late 2005. Even though I don't play brawl anymore I was on the Florida Brawl Power rankings for a while. So I've played all three games competitively, am fairly well known, and have been around a long time.

Double Post...

Boom also plays all 3 games (even tho he says he doesn't like melee for some reason) is probably even better known than me, and has been around a while.

Jaime too.

I'd actually prolly pick Jaime over anyone. I don't think anyone has ever disliked Jaime, which is a prity good trait for an embassador.

I hesitate between Near, Blue Yoshi and Jaime.

Near host the main smash kaillera server and seems pretty charismatic

Blue Yoshi always have good statements and arguments

Jaime is charismatic, decent at Smash and never been back-talked (in my presence on these boards) but a bit less active than the two previous.

Personally I'd prefer Jaime to become the ambassador

Who knows... maybe they will? We can always suggest it lol.

By the way... what is the purpose of this ambassador... as in what is he the ambassador to? It's not like they're going to put a 64 ambassador to the melee backroom or anything like that... What does this ambassador do...?

Basically represent the smash 64 community.
MLG_JV and I suppose other admins will work closely with said ambassador. They will listen to the ambassador about ideas.

I appreciate that you care and want to grow your community. Im all for people that want to do that, but could care less about people that just want to complain. Things for example
I do not think you need your own heading but if the board/community grows its not something I would hesitate to do at that point.
Can be discussed between the ambassador and JV. My opinion on that is that we actually do need a heading in order to gain recognition and seen as a "serious" community. Regardless of how big our community is a heading would help us get bigger.
