I’m assuming right now that Spirits won’t become DLC, at least not yet, for a few combined reasons:

1.) The characters we’ve seen so far don’t have them, not even Piranha Plant.

2.) They were said to be “new to the series.”

3.) The DLC in Smash 4 was all third party and veterans, and there’s no veterans to add. I suppose we could get another “Corrin”...

None of these are a hard deconfirm, so if I’m wrong, great!

4. Sora. Haven’t even played Kingdom hearts but I think he’d be a cool character to have and would be much more recognizable than others rumored.

Master Chief is growing on me a little if they can figure out a way around the gun thing. It would get me more excited than a lot of these rumors lately.

Above all else, NO MORE FIRE EMBLEM (coming from a Marth main). I’m totally down for all third party. In fact, I’d prefer it.

That's because it isn't.

Xenoblade X is a copy of the Armored Core games, which is what Daemon X Machina is inspired by.

To be honest, "new to the series" is likely just PR. Even it means anything, it's more likely to be "new franchises" or "new games", so Spirits wouldn't be any different than any other base game content imo.

Overworld was neat, but I'm not a fan of the combat, especially since it turned all these guns and missiles and laser swords and stuff into turn-based attacks which didn't do much.

Scorpion would be amazing, as would Fulgore and/or Rash, pipe dream I know...

Rash/Zitz/Pimple in particular would be quite zany and fit in really well. Other two may take a bit more watering down so to speak.

During the 11.1 direct sakurai said that they have every fighter ever in the base game so there’s no more past veterans to include “UNLESS WE DEVELOP NEW ONES FROM SCRACH”

in other words what Reggie meant was characters not represented as fighters YET just like Joker who was not represented as a fighter in smash YET
