Opinion: I think they should've made Link more unique than his counterparts. I'd much rather lose OG Link to a fully updated breath of the wild Link. It was prolly more deadlines that stopped them from doing more. But I would've loved for him to at least be able to climb walls or use the sheikah slate in his specials.

Ganon slaps hard because people still think get up attack is gonna work against Warlock Punch.

Also, while on the topic, I love how much they buffed Flame Choke as you get a guaranteed follow up with DTilt or STilt if they miss the tech.

But he does use the Sheikah Slate for his specials.
Honestly don't get this fanbase with fully reworking veterans, just make a new character at that point.

That sounds like a waste of time at this point. We probably wouldn't even have three Links if it wasn't for the fact that all of them are veterans.

Slime from DQ. (He has a lot of moveset potential with the variety of abilities he has including spells, morphing into other Slime species and weapon usage, as well as a huge Tank/Castle hybrid from his own Spinoff series).

Zero from Mega Man. (I loved Zero in both the Mega Man X and Mega Man Zero series, to the point that whenever I see him playable in a game I always use him. I wanted him to be in Smash 4 but them he became a costume. And now he's an AT. I really hope he gets to join the roster soon).

Geno from Super Mario RPG: Legend of the 7 Stars. (SMRPG was actually my first RPG game. I hold a lot of dear childhood memories playing that game and Geno and Mallow are both characters I really wish appeared in more titles. I played a Mii Gunner with Geno's costume in Smash 4 and I hope they at least bring his costume back for Ultimate, I would be really happy to be able to use at least mii old Geno Mii again).

Agumon from Digimon. (When I was a small child Pokémon wasn't being broadcasted in my TV, but Digimon was. His moveset in the Digimon fighting games is also very similar to Smash's pattern for moveset. He even has some moves that fit perfectly for 4 specials).

I overall like old and overlooked characters that marked my childhood.

As for my picks, Octolings are my number #1 most wanted right now. Waluigi, Ashley, and Dr. Eggman would all be dream come true characters for me as well.

I don't know much about Fire Emblem but I think I saw somewhere that Ike was the most popular character in the series. I think Sakurai wouldn't take him out in order to avoid controversy.

When a veteran has kinda been *** for awhile, it's understandable. Link was bad in 64, mediocre in Melee, bad in Brawl, bad in For. Ult. Young Link is the first legitimately good version of the standard Link moveset (aside from Toon Link, who works completely differently due to his aerials), so at this point, why not completely reimagine the old Link?

Most Wanted? Tough question. I've got a lot of what I really wanted already (Little Mac, Mega Man, Simon, K. Rool)

I guess if I were to make a list, I'd probably put Muddy Mole, The Amazon or somebody from Pro Wrestling, Dixie Kong, Ryu Hayabusa and Banjo

I'm not really qualified to make an objective assessment. I haven't had significant time against all of them. But Incineroar or Charizard, to me, are at the bottom of the heap. I've had absolutely zero difficulty facing either one of them.

Ganon's like a bad Chrom, in that he can do a fantastic amount of damage with quick aerials but suffers from a poor recovery. He gets wrecked by a DK that can just grab him, jump and toss him off the edge. But I think he has more offensive options and mobility than the other heavies, and unlike the other heavies, I've seen him reaching multiple winners/losers/grand finals in the tourneys I've followed on Youtube. K. Rool is easier to pick up and easier to lose to if you screw up, but I think Ganon has a higher ceiling.

That said, I do not have in-person tournament experience in Ultimate yet, and my opinion is skewed by the best Smasher I know switching from Peach to Ganon in this game and wrecking us on multiple occasions. He really, really likes the new Ganon.

I've been in about 4 local tourneys and played against some really good players in my state, as well as watching a lot of footage from top level players. I get my information from these things when I create an opinion on a character's viability. Usually, when I rank a character, I'm referring to them in the sense of top level play. The game is still very new, so we don't know yet, but I think ganon still suffers from a lot of the same problems he had in previous games, and I think he's a contender for the worst superheavy as of right now.

Honestly if I could choose just one character to add, like if massive hero soccer boy approached me and asked me which character to add, I would say Midna.

Rex is pretty likely for the next game/a potential second DLC wave, Elma will probably star in XCX2 giving her extra relevancy, Skull Kid will always have popularity and might make a cameo in the next game, etc etc. All these characters will always have a chance at Smash. Midna is literally a one-and-done character. Not counting spinoffs, she was in a grand total of ONE game that came out on the Gamecube and Wii. I rooted for her during the Brawl days and the Smash 4 days, but I know she'll basically always be in snowglobe prison. And I like her better then any of my "will never happen" characters to be honest. TP holds so much nostalgia for me that its inside of its own special place in my heart.
