I'm personally not buying that the Absolute Safe Capsule was meant to represent Porky, lots of objects are represented through Spirits, like the different Mario Kart vehicles, and the Absolute Safe Capsule is just another case of that imo. Like, if Porky himself had a Spirit, nobody would say he's represented twice, it's just something people cling to to try and explain something that likely doesn't have much of an explanation beyond a slip up or whatever. We're not always going to have an explanation for small things like these.

I definitely don't think it indicates that he'll be DLC though, I might have been able to entertain the thought had it been Sakurai who chose the DLC as he obviously has a soft spot for Mother (still wouldn't be likely at all, but at least not impossible), but as surprising as Nintendo may aim to be, I can't imagine why they would choose another Mother rep. At the very least with surprising 3rd party picks like Joker they get a ton of exposure, as much as I'd love it I really don't see where Nintendo's desire to include Porky would come from.

I think it's already too much to assume that a spirit absolutely deconfirms a character, but to assume the lack of a spirit somehow confirms them is two steps too far. It's an assumption based on an assumption, and so it's a very shaky argument to base a character prediction off of.

Besides, even with the absurd amount of spirits in the game they're still going to miss a few, and not always because they were "forgotten". Perhaps they really did think the Absolute Safe Capsule and Yarn Poochy were adequate - I don't think they even made a huge deal out of Poochy's importance until Wooly World came along anyway. Maybe they didn't think Sylux was a big enough character to get in yet.

Doubt it. There's two, lesser known Hunters from Metroid Prime: Hunters as spirits as well as an unimportant one from Prime 3 in there. Sylux is the only one teased to return in a big way.

Poochy is one of those characters who people might suggest, but I personally don’t see having a good shot at all.

The speculation community honestly in my humble opinion, looks far too much into “representing” or “repping” things, whether through characters or movesets. When I hear the idea of Poochy in Smash, I can’t even come up with a moveset because well...what does he even do? He shows up for a bit and well...from my memory, not much else.

Once again, in my humble opinion, there are characters with more recognition, popularity, and gameplay potential than Poochy. You’d have to make up too much for him to make sense, again in my humble opinion.

Absolutely Safe Capsule is 100% a joke about it actually being Porky. Sakurao is a fan of Earthbound and the ASC is literally indestructible and can never be opened again as seen it surviving the end of the world in Mother 3.
Galleem couldn't turn Porky into a Spirit because it could never reach inside the capsule.
"Oh but lore shouldn't be a reason to exclude a character" it should when it's funny.

To be fair, so is Duck Hunt. They had to take very creative liberties to make something work with him. Rather than just being "the dog" he is the entire game personified.

Don’t see why not. Pretty sure his spirit is listed under the yoshi series too, but that might be wrong.

I don't care much for Yoshi as a series.
But I've always had a soft spot for the dog.

Oh hey; that was a legit question; I wasn't intented to hurt any of the Poochy fans.

But I don't think talking about Micaiah is a fair comparison because well... wanting a Fire Emblem Character at this point is mostly because of their personal appeal, because the Series already has 7 Characters counting the Echoes (so, technically the FE Icon was already used several times).
