Official Smash Ultimate Discussion

Almost one month has passed since release. In retrospect....

  • This is by far the best Smash ever. Like, I don't even know how they will top this.

  • Pretty freakin' good; I have a few qualms over things like internet play, balancing issues, etc.

  • It's ok, but [insert Smash game here] is better.

  • I'd rather play Parcheesi.

Well I've reached the final boss of WoL.

We're about six days from 2018 being over. The entire year, gone.

So I wanna ask you, what were your favorite Smashboards moments of 2018?
That time one of my ****posts got a lot of likes was pretty good. (I wish I could put something more sincere here but I can't think of anything. :( )

Assuming there's an Nintendo Direct in January. When do you expect it will be. Beginning, middle or end of the month?
Usually during the middle of the month are when January Directs happen. If you want my two cents, here's no doubt some "locks" for the Direct.

Persona 5 Switch - The rumors and track records are now starting to pop up out of nowhere as of very recent, which is at the least, unprecedented, unlike the Snake and Cloud situations. We could find out in a week or two, like with usual Atlus announcements, or in this one. Could be possible that we can just have a recap announcement in the Direct, if imminent news is upon us. Really, it's just a waiting game.

Final Fantasy Update - We need to know, at the very least, when Final Fantasy VII, IX, X + X-2 HD Remaster is coming out. It's been more than three months after it's original announcement and we haven't heard of anything since. They're pretty old to semi-old games and shouldn't need more than much effort, especially if we're talking about PS1 games. We might get an update on Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered Edition and XII THE ZODIAC AGE amongst other things, but Final Fantasy overall is a must.

New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe / Smash Ultimate Piranha Plant Reminder - Simple, gotta push that game hard like any other Mario game to get as much people to buy it. And as for Piranha Plant, the limited-time offer will end at the end of next month, so it's best to remind people about that, while at the same time market that deal to also sell more copies of Smash, too.

Fire Emblem: Three Houses / Metroid Prime 4 / Bayonetta 3 Official Reveal - I think this should go without saying. We haven't seen Fire Emblem since E3 2018, Bayonetta 3 since The Game Awards 2017, and Metroid Prime 4 since E3 2017. We've been out in the dark, and it seems as if Nintendo is ready to push other games outside of Smash, since we're now getting to be a couple of weeks to close to a month after Smash. Not to mention, these are big games for them, especially Metroid Prime 4. Gotta get them out.

That's about it, really.

Nah, it was Ultimate's Smash Dojo.

Where the only new stuff is the soundtrack.
I didn't see anyone call it filler.

Compared to the PotD where it was the most used word.

Your remark about the fact it's been 3 years since the FF porr announcements makes me sad when I remember Skullgirls' port was announced in like June and we've gotten no info since

Nobody called the Ultimate updates filler, but I'm pretty sure the lack of new information (except for the weekly music updates) was the #1 reason we constantly went on wild tangents during this hype cycle.

nobody called it filler because it was basically entirely pointless, nothing besides some songs were even worth talking about. at least potd confirmed new characters and stages lol

If only we had Luigi's nose to keep us on point.

the updates for the next smash bros game are just going to be screenshots taken from directs without even captions under them

Not really trying to compare the two, I was just making a joke about the overuse of the word filler during the PotD.
My favourite time of the month.

All the ones that involved dank memes.

And that one time I got the thread to talk about MLP in Smash.

Oh, and whenever Zinith Zinith posted wholesome fanart. Your fanart was also a highlight, Noipoi.

Can't wait the "WALUIGI" post followed by chaos as no one knows whether he's playable or an assist.

Probably in the middle. I don’t think Nintendo wants to go into 2019 for too long with only general info of “some game” is coming this year.

As for what I’m expecting:
FE 3 Houses
Persona 5 Switch (if it is coming)
General 3DS game reveals
Maybe Animal Crossing/Luigi’s Mansion 3

I’m hesitant to predict Bayonetta 3 or Metroid Prime 4 since they don’t even have release dates confirmed yet.

Fuuuugggf is Persona 5 really gets on switch, I would know what to do with myself
I really hope P5 comes out on the Switch.

Entirely because, while I could get P5 on the PS4, it's a monumental time-sink, and my PS4 is connected to the living room TV, which my parents also use.

So yeah, being able to play it on a system that isn't tied to a TV would be beneficial for me.

So by combining the powers of the Super Sonic Primary Spirit, the Thundurus, Quick Man, and Mach Rider Support Spirits, and Custom Smash's Bunny Hood and Superspicy Curry settings, it is possible to get every character faster than Jigglypuff to be able to run on Big Blue without falling behind.

Jigglypuff is the 4th slowest character in the game, by the way. So aside from Jiggs, Robin, Incineroar, and Piranha Plant, all characters can run on Big Blue.

As a bonus, with these settings, Sonic can run on Spirit Train.

Also, Jump Primary + 3 Jump Supports + Bunny Hood + Falco is insane.

Sounds like fun.

Speaking of running on Big Blue, can someone link me to that Twitter Post of Captain Falcon running on Big Blue and the poster turning it into anime credits?
