so i'm finally on the last one i need to unlock, and it's palutena, and she keeps kicking my *** lmfao

I ended up in the same situation.

Eventually I got lucky and Palutena SD'd.

I was disappointed in the trailer when Guile's Theme was remixed then I got the game and saw they had both original themes from SFII

Yeah, because there is no such thing as a company slot.

Maybe not in a straightforward sense, but for example, with Snake getting into Brawl, there was no way Simon was going to get in. With Simon and Richter getting into Ultimate, there was no way Bomberman was going to get in (at least in the base game). With Cloud getting in as DLC, there was no way Geno was going to get in as DLC in Smash 4. Just stuff like that, it's more about the logistics of negotiation than "slots", but it's still a real thing.

I mean it's basically a more fun and engaging version of event matches, but event matches could be bull**** sometimes, I'm still traumatized by Kirby's Crazy Appetite. So it's no wonder that some of these spirit matches are bull**** too.

It is a lot of BS. A good chunk of these fights are more annoying than fun.

When I first saw this in World of Light I was super confused, I thought it was a badly done Kirby or something. Then I realized it's Squirtle and I was still confused because Squirtle's eyes don't look like that...

... now I'm realizing it's its nostrils as most character icons don't have eyes. But even knowing that it's hard to see a moth and two nostrils rather than a moth and two eyes.

And since I finally got to play Smash Ultimate, I'm loving it so far! Unlocking so many characters is a lot of fun and Spirits are really cool, plus the gameplay itself is great. Classic mode is awesome too, a great improvement over Smash Wii U (was it really possible to do worse than that though?) and it's fun to discover the battles of most characters for which I'm for the most part spoiler-free. I also deliberately avoided World of Light cutscenes from the datamine so I can get the surprise when they'll come.

Also ace spirit battles are legitimately hard for the most part, I learned it the hard way when trying to beat Alph@Brittany in WoL. I simply couldn't do it (especially since I chose hard difficulty). Even fighting ace spirits in the Spirit Board is challenging without the additional difficulty from WoL's hard mode and chosable enemy debuff. Don't even get me started with legend ones... best I did was survive for a fairly long time during the Mewtwo@Celebi battle.

Overall the game is amazing, there are so many options to play with a more or less casual approach, and the single player content is pretty good. I definitely don't regret my purchase and am looking for the final 4 DLC characters in the future (but before that I have about half the roster to unlock yet).

People who don't actually play Persona games and don't realize that just because you can choose lines the characters say it doesn't mean they have no personality.

It's irritating. Every dialogue option in that game is centered around getting the character's personality across and Joker especially has more dialogue and internal monologue than any other Persona protagonist so far. He's bursting with clear personality. People just aren't used to how Persona is written in comparison to other similar RPGs.
