Well if they want people to use it in tournaments(and lets be real, they do, because there's no other reason to create the FS meter in the first place. They're tired of nobody who watches tournaments not getting to see the work they put in on FSs), then they need to get off their ***** and balance those things!

Hmm, I've had a lot of questions about Smash lore lately. Like, if they're all toys, why are certain characters assist characters and not fighters? Not to mention Little Mac, Dark Samus, and Isabelle. Why were they promoted?
Hmmm... but still. Why? By the time assist trophies were introduced, we know that the person who played with the toys was an adult, due to Subspace Emissary. Did this person have some kind of reasoning as to which characters were and weren't?
Because not every toy can be the main character of their play story; somebody's gotta be the support. Playable characters are the Saiyans, getting all the love and development for the story that they're playing with while the Assist Trophies are the Krillins lol.
The kid really doesn't like Waluigi that much, he plays with him but not as much as the other characters, that's why he is only an assist character.
The kid that plays with the toys doesn't like that much the characters that are just assist trophies.
New headcanon, they're the kid's older sibling's pristine mint condition action figures so he has to quickly play with them and then return them asap so his sibling doesn't find out he's been taking them out of the box
yeah, they're all older characters so mint-condition figures of them would be rare and expensive, hence the older sibling keeping them in the box to preserve them. If a character gets promoted a la Little Mac/Damus then its the sibling being nice and allowing the kid to play with them fully
For newer characters, the sibling probably just collects them and lets the kid play with them after a while. The sibling had Isabelle for 5 years, and the kid probably got into AC at some point during that time. Let the kid play with it!
Hmm, yeah!
Although, there's some other exceptions, though these ones are more like the reverse. (not including cuz he was a boss twice) are all older characters that would be highly collectible. Why are they suddenly playable after not being part of the battle at all?
What if...
The older characters like are gifts from the older brother (from eBay I guess), after the younger brother got interested in those series/characters. Also, returning veterans like were lost in the couch cushions.
I've already tried pushing the idea of having squad strike be standard if you can use the same character 3 times, and the fact that it's different is enough for the community to ignore it, this isn't even kee-jerk, the response I got the most was "why change it if we don't need to".
Seriously? We get a mode tailor-made for allowing crew battles to actually be a thing the game can organize in the background — no self-destructing needed — and the competitive community turns up their noses at it without so much as looking at it?!? Please tell me they're not gonna do crew battles like in previous games — watching people self-destruct to manage their stocks before getting the match started properly isn't part of my ideal Smash spectating experience.
If it makes you feel any better, I like zoning. Sometimes you just wanna play cautiously and put safety first, eh? Taking risks all the time is dangerous business. And sometimes zoning can actually be riskier than rushdown — for instance, if you can get past a guided projectile like Ness or Lucas's PK Thunder, Zelda's Din’s Fire, or Snake's Remote Missile (especially PK Thunder, which can't be manually canceled or detonated early), you have a good chance to get a free shot in.
There was a time when I would have looked forward to seeing final smashes in competitive somewhere down the line, but not anymore. Back when a lot of them required skill to reliably kill with in a 1 on 1 (keeping a rhythm with DK's, predicting movements with Snake's or ZSS's, etc.) but now that the trend has gone the other way and they're looking more like souped up versions of Mac's KO punch, I'm not feeling it at all.
This. So much this. I've always liked player-controlled Final Smashes, since they keep everyone actually playing the game and require a good deal of finesse to actually score kills with. Ultimate making all the Final Smashes extremely straightforward just takes a lot of the fun out of them for me.
I highly doubt that Spirits are going to be seen in competitive play. Sure, they don't have the RNG bullcrap that made equipment largely incompatible with a fair, manageable competition, but Spirits have a rock-paper-scissors thing going on which will make it hell to make matchups fair; the players will be too busy trying to make sure their Spirit team is on top of the triangle to actually start the match!!!
The only way its stupid is if there was already something to tone it down for younger people
And your all gonna hate me but I love this its like impossible for younger people to surf the web without being corrupted by this "bad" this will be nice and clean for them.
Basically everything was much more appropriate back in the day but now its become less and less as years go by
Besides I only really use it for talking with a director of another game that's Ben going on since the 90s
Whoa, whoa, whoa. We have a dedicated headcanon thread if you guys wanna talk about the "Smash is kids playing with toys" angle.
I wonder how Galeem and Dharkon fit into that version of the narrative. Did the toys fall into a shredder or something?

Okay, you cannot say that when we had **** THE OSCARS.
The fact that the announcement of Josef Fares presenting this year is a bigger announcement than Pokimane, Ninja, Overwatch's Jeff Kaplan and more is a testament to that.
It's been datamined, I've been keeping up, so I don't find anything exciting about the release. Sure I'm eager to play but I'm more excited to know who the 5 DLCs are.
I mean Nintendo, why did you make it a secret? I don't see it serving a thing :/

3-fighter Squad Strike is not something I'd ay should be the definitive competitive play but it really should be a side event. I just don't see enough top players picking multiple characters rather than a singular one to justify it and there's plenty of reasons as why multiple characters could be a problem for balance.
Seriously, are you guys more excited to play Smash or know who the 5 DLCs are?
That is, Game Awards announcements or Smash release? Personally, the first.
Considering my Switch is at my house and finals don’t end until next week, I say the Game Awards.
It’s a shame too. The Ultimate Edition with the steelbook and Pro Controller is being delivered to my dorm on launch, but will be sitting on my shelf for a week. Ah well, academics first, even if I only do have one test next week.
I could probably find someone with a Switch who doesn’t have Ultimate and wants to play.

I agree that 3 different characters brings up too many issues, but with 3 of the same character being used per team I don't see any problems.
That being said I don't even know if that's possible, I've heard people say you can't, and I've heard people say you can.
tbh the tumblr stuff is wack bc I only use my account there to lurk either fanart or porn and if they ban porn (and the algorithm is banning a lot of innocent fanart too) then i won't end up using tumblr as much.
Squad Strike should definitely be a side event whenever it's the Characters stock mode.
Or the player rotation team.
Anything but it should be used in my opinion.

I believe in you, you can survive the wait! Don't get spoiled, or do, it's whatever.
I was going to get the Ultimate Edition myself, but I couldn't find one so I decided on getting the game and controller separate. Imo the steelbook looks worse than just the normal box art anyways.

Honestly, the former.
Sure I'm excited to play the game this Friday (depending on how much work I get done).
But considering there are 10 new games being announced at the Game Awards w/ Nintendo bringing something big, I'm excited to see how it all goes down.

I mean, my point is that "what's the point of Squad Strike if it's just gonna be teams of 3 Sheiks vs. 3 Clouds?".
And if it is indeed possible, what I hear is that you'd have to choose different costumes and that could get confusing during a match "I'm black haired Shulk, no wait, I'm the blonde one now"
