I don't see how you could nerf the poor kid any further, really.

Give him less range on his tilts.
Up B explosion is weaker, but the hammer comes out faster.
Can't air dodge after a Side B jump, but can down double jump.

It's a mixed bag... but it's still an overall nerf.

Oh, I should mention, while I firmly believe the Square rep is Sephiroth and I have expressed enthusiasm at the idea of HD Supernova, he's not high on my want list, and while he's above the DQ reps, I'd prefer Geno over him, though sadly I think Geno's chances are the lowest.

This is factually false.

Chunky was the true hero of DK64 who had his glory stolen from Funky at the very end of the game. Nintendo didn't want to risk Chunky outshining all their characters so they did their best to sabotage him by never allowing him to appear again.

It's called the Chunky Conspiracy my friend.

I would actually be fine with Agumon in Smash.
While I do think there are other Namco picks they would pick over Agumon, I do think that he has a shot for a DLC slot.
Not extremely high, but definitely plausible.
