Official Smash Ultimate Discussion

Almost one month has passed since release. In retrospect....

  • This is by far the best Smash ever. Like, I don't even know how they will top this.

  • Pretty freakin' good; I have a few qualms over things like internet play, balancing issues, etc.

  • It's ok, but [insert Smash game here] is better.

  • I'd rather play Parcheesi.

On top of this, I definitely blame Ridley and K. Rool. These 2 were extremely desired and good character choices from well known franchises, but it caused a lot of people, including myself to think that obscure characters from OBSCURE franchises had that much of a bigger chance because of that Grinch "leak" (GS, RH, SMRPG).

Metroid and DK aren't obscure, though. DK especially is pretty big.

Honestly, this game is no different from any other Smash. People always expect too much out of this series, especially during the final reveals. Some people (myself included) assume characters are locks when nothing indicates that they are, and get upset when they aren't shown or if they get deconfirmed. Besides, the only people who get burned by these types of things are people hardcore into the speculation scene, which is very, very small compared to the total Smash Bros. player base.

The fact is. He's not deconfirming the Square-Enix characters. He knows it's coming.

He's just not saying ANYTHING about a square-Enix characters, no matters the name thrown probably to play it safe, also it's good to know that him and Vergeben are working together to find the DLC, and they're apparently VERY CLOSE to do so.
Basically, him saying idk about Sora/Geno/FF or whatever is just him playing safe to not say they're on his list or not since they're specifics characters
He allowed himself to say "I heard about Dragon Quest characters" because by his own words, there a billion DQ characters, so just saying this doesn't put annyone in danger.
Which mean, there is an high chance that the list he have, have more than 2 dragon quest characters, since just saying "Dragon quest" wouldn't ruin any source he have if they're different names.

I’m curious, do you guys think Smash Ultimate will be leaked like a lot of the recent games (i.e. Pokemon LGPE, Super Mario Party, etc) and while characters would not be the issue here (minus any possible data for dlc characters if the data isn’t no encrypted tightly?

if so, would we expect it at least a week before, or even 2+ weeks prior to the games launch?

i certainly do not want this, but seeing as a lot of games (big name or otherwise) are getting leaked, just thought i’d see what you guys thought.

Oh that. Honestly, I couldn’t think of a response. It’s just sad that some people can get that upset about a fictional character.

I wasnt attacking Metroid and DK lol, in fact the opposite.

I was saying that because those 2 villains aren't as popular as some other characters, but because they were often grouped with Banjo, Isaac and Geno, people expected these 3 to also make it, as well as some others being fairly optimistic choices, like Chorus Kids. This was an unrealistic assumption in hindsight because Ridley and K. Rool are from popular games themselves.

However, unlike the others, Banjo definitely still is an exception to this though, and regardless of his rights being with Microsoft has a fairly realistic chance of joining Smash at SOME point.

I'm not sure I'm understanding Nekoo.
He did explicitly say things about certain characters. And how he's heard nothing about them. Therefore implying they're not on the list.
Am I missing something? Sorry; I'm just confused.

I'm very attached to certain characters, especially ones from my childhood. But I don't think I could ever get that attached.
I don't even think it's bad, it just kinda weirds me out.

I couldn't agree more. Honestly, it feels like most of the high expectations (before Grinch leak) came from :ultkrool::ultridley:. Smash speculation tend to romanticize those two a lot.

WoL final boss and any potential cutscenes it may have will probably make their way onto Youtube, sadly.

Guys consider this as the next smash game.

It's Mario Party, but all the minigames are conditional stage events, like break the targets, Homerun, etc.

Honestly this newcomer line up is really one of the better ones.

:ultincineroar::ultpiranha::ultinkling::ultdaisy::ultisabelle: all appeal to modern, more casual audiences.

:ultchrom::ultdarksamus::ultrichter::ultken: are fan favorites of their series

:ultridley::ultkrool::ultsimon: appeal to boomers the hardcore Smash scene

There's something here for everyone!

Probably there will be stuff leaked, thought I doubt it will be as bad as last game. At least the roster and PP is safe.
