So how would you guys feel if these were the DLC characters?
-Bandana Dee
-Edelgard Byleth
-Lloyd Irving
-Steve
-Sora
Won't lie, disappointing.
There are some fantastic choices like Sora from Kingdom Hearts and Bandana Dee to satisfy another request and get Kirby some love, but... Other than that, it's severely lacking. Lloyd's game out of the entire Tales Of series is pretty much most of the reason people know Tales and it doesn't really sit well with the whole "Next Namco Rep After Pac-Man" sort of deal. Not to mention, the timing is pretty off. Why would Lloyd get in over Heihachi, a part of a franchise that continuously is getting updates and still feels fresh and known to a lot of people?
Steve is pretty obvious, but I don't get the "Well He's Popular!" argument. Yeah, you know what else is also popular and is in the same vein as Minecraft, in terms of releases? Tetris. Guess how they treated Tetris in Smash? Two songs and that's it. The popularity argument at this point has and will always come out with a black-eye after getting bashed so much.
Edelgard, no. Please, please no. See, Corrin at least had SOME reason. We knew all about Fire Emblem Fates and the game(s) came out back in June of 2015, where the American and other country releases were later. We knew, to an extent, the characters.
With Three Houses?
We know jack ****ing **** and the game hasn't been pushed since E3 almost six months ago.
I HIGHLY doubt that we'll be getting another FE rep.
The sad thing is that while Smash For was an... interesting iteration, you cannot deny that the DLC was absolutely ****ing fantastic and unfortunately, Ultimate is gonna have a LOT to live up to for this round of DLC, since it will always be compared to the two. I, at the least, expect it to match the levels of Ryu, Cloud and Bayonetta. If Ultimate's DLC can do that, which they can very much easily do, DLC will be fantastic like before. But it needs to have that OOMPH, and this line-up... Just ain't it.
