Which is really silly. It's a video game, and back room information gets tangled and misunderstood all the time. It's not outside the realm of possibility if this leak is legit that people had bad sources. It's happened plenty of times before, and will happen plenty of times in the future. Harassing people for a video game (heck, for ANY reason) is incredibly immature, and shows some really messed up priorities.

Anyways, I'm still saying fake. I know there's the potential I'm just being stubborn at this point, but I just can't believe there's five uniques left. It logistically makes no sense with how things have been done so far and in the past, not to mention the character selection feels incredibly fan made. I know there's more lining up for it to be real than fake at this point, but I'm sticking with my gut feeling: Somehow, someway, it's an elaborate fake, and probably the best this series has ever seen.

Seems to be this apparently. The Grinch back render from the leak is used at the start, shown off for the very first time too on Oct 24th.

In other words, the Grinch content from the leak is 100% legit. Now it's a question of how legit the Smash content is. Would a 50yo Frenchman with a family, who doesn't speak English (I checked his facebook too), go out of this way to create a fake Smash leak at his office just to trick "us kids"? I doubt it. I think Eric was ******** about how much work he had to do, and dun goofed. He posted something he thought was insignificant, and it wound up being actually something SUPER important unbeknownst to him.

Also, he's DEFINITELY not the guy behind the Chadnondorf leak.

The leak is 100% real, best start accepting it. It's legit.

This might sound controversial but I'd rather there not be any insiders at all if they're going to tell everyone they have the information and not give it up. Like, what's even the point then, besides sounding like you're proud of that fact? At least people like Vergeben actually give the information they receive out. It's baffling to me when I see insiders who say things like "this information is false, it contradicts what I know." Okay? So, if you're not going to tell us what you know, why should we care?

It’s not that I don’t believe the insiders, I fully believe they’ve seen different stuff than us, its just that I wish they’d stop being so vague about it. Outright dissing their connections is stupid btw, but I REALLY wanna know if this has to do directly with Incineroar or is there more characters we don’t know about. They don’t gotta say who the possible characters, just either say “It’s because there’s no Incineroar” or “There’s a few others missing besides Incineroar”. Spawn Wave and some other guy (I forgot the website he runs) were the only ones who were straight up honest about who was missing. While Spawn Wave didn’t name the unknown character, he at least said there was someone else besides Incineroar not there

Guess so. I just think it's a shame, I really very much want this leak to be real, and I think the whole setup, if it IS fake, is a complete nightmare and I can't believe after all this publicity...NO one has claimed it yet. It's been about 3 days.

Nonetheless, Insiders probably don't want people getting disappointed, on top of the fact that they get harassed about things like this. People on the outside looking in can get pretty vindictive.

Also, the only way they’d be able to remove a character to mislead people is if they made a fake mural as leak bait. Even then that’d be way too extra. If the insiders seen actual gameplay of whoever the he’ll wasnt in the Grinch leak then I heavily doubt they were removed.

So Vergeben is now claiming Incineroar will be DLC. What strikes me as interesting is his wording, in that he wasn't actively denying the Grinch leak. His previous posts were just this leak not being what his sources told him, which is a much more fair approach than "Trust me guys, it's fake."

I have been saying this since day one. I have never thought a new Pokémon rep would be in the base roster. With 9 characters (the most in any franchise if you count Yoshi and Wario separately like Sakurai does), and a much smaller demand than other characters (according to Smash online polls and what I've observed in these communities over the last few years), I've never thought Incineroar (or anything else) was very likely.

Some people make the argument that one gets added every iteration, so therefore we should expect another one. What a garbage and illogical argument! When has Sakurai ever followed patterns when adding characters? In the past games, the dude did what he wanted. Otherwise, why would he have removed Mewtwo from Brawl? Or why did he drop Wolf in Sm4sh? This argument is purely conjecture.

Some people make the argument that Pokemon, like Mario, is just one of those juggernauts that gets a new characters each iteration because it is the safest bet from a sales standpoint. Then what was the point of the ballot? Was it really used for just Sm4sh? If Nintendo was smart, they would go through characters like Ridley, K. Rool, Banjo, Isaac, and Geno first (the former two which are confirmed and the latter three being a possibility according to the Grinch leak) before tapping into Pokémon. If the consolidated online poll during Sm4sh is any indication of how things went on the official poll, then the highest placing Pokemon was a veteran, Pichu, in the 41st spot. That means 40 other characters were more in demand. Why ignore that data and just throw a Pokémon at us?

I'm OK with no new Pokémon. Give Golden Sun, Rhythm Heaven, Banjo-Kazooie, and Mach Rider some time in the sun.

Like suggested before, there's a real chance that the "leaker" (not Eric, stop dragging his name through the mud PLEASE), still works at the company involved.
Whether or not that company is Marina or ACP (neither have known connections to Illumination, but neither site would update their examples until what they're producing is complete anyways) is a question no one but the companies themselves can answer.
