Unless they finish it with Sora and have Incineroar before that. That'd make some sense.

The problem is that this guy says Incineroar is in; he has also said his sources have said that we are getting some characters in the leaked mural, but it seems off.

If this all ends up being truth, I guess Sakurai really wanted to make this feel "Special."

edit: yeah, Sora would probably come after Incineroar so that's probably not a problem at all.

Yep. Tails has always been one of my favorites (even recently). I'd definitely be pretty happy with him getting in.

As a big Incineroar fan and supporter, this thing is stressful as heck (swearing isn’t allowed here, is it? I’m new).
Some people are saying he isn’t in cause he’s not there, some people are saying he’s in even though he’s not there, some people say he’s DLC and some people are saying he’s a bait for leakers from Nintendo which IMO would be real cruel for his fans. I’m Team Fake for obv reasons, I doubt Inci would work as DLC and I think he’s the last base game character with Ken. If it’s fake I’ll try to make an animation of him beating up the Grinch leak characters and the Who himself, all while ”The Eye of the Tiger” is playing in the background. I don’t mind any of the Grinch leak characters, buuuut I want my Buff Cat in.

Just a thought. Has anybody brought up that maybe we will get a character trailer with more than one character because of financial reasons? I mean, the Isabelle trailer could not be that expensive with it presumably being the new animal crossing engine. But a cinematic like for Ridley or the Belmonts or Rool has to be very expensive. Maybe they wanted to cut corners and that is why we do not have another direct? Speaking of that, a direct itself would be kind of expensive to produce, so maybe that is one of the reasons why they showed nothing in October?

I've been following the Sun and Moon anime very closely. To say Incineroar is getting a huge push in the anime is a huge overstatement. Altogether, it's gotten in a movie and four anime episodes (Two of which barely even focus on it).

If we're going strictly off the anime, Lycanroc is getting the hardest push hands down, and that's not even including the first two forms. Aside from making regular appearances, Dusk/Rockruff has been the center of attention for two of Ash's Grand Trials, one of which was exclusively Dusk Lycanroc. It also has a rivalry with Gladion's Midnight (the former being a key rival to Ash) and it has its own special Z-move.

And then we get scenes like this.

I think there's still time for Incineroar to get some additional development in the last year of the anime, but I have a hard time seeing it surpass what Lycanroc has accomplished so far, especially when Rowlet and Eevee will be there to further divide the screentime.

I know the anime is typically an indicator of who gets in Smash, but I'm starting to think this might be an exception.

Off-topic, but I actually wonder if Ash's Torracat is actually going to evolve anytime soon? The 4th OP of the X & Y series heavily showcased Greninja 10 episodes before Frogadier evolved.

That was my plan if shadow ever got in the game. In fact I’m planning on suppprting a lot of characters for DLC. Characters such as dixie, skull kid, bandana dee and tails and etc. etc.

You don't have all this development for nothing. Lycanroc peaking early says to me that its arcs are done. Torracat still being Torracat is a lot more interesting.

The Melee trophies also refer to King K. Rool and Kaptain K. Rool as different characters (at least in the Japanese version).

Sometimes, official sources make mistakes (and back then, they weren't feasible to fix).

I don’t see the problem with Mach Rider being female, tbh.
She’d help differentiate from all the characters aesthetically, especially if Sakurai redesigns her a bit like Pit, and “confirming” her as a woman would break her away from Captain Falcon and other similarly hyper-masculine characters.

I just think it would add a different archetype into Smash and it’d be pretty dope.

No Problem with Mach Rider being a man, woman, or Machine. In the end Mach Rider would be there to fill Retro Rep not Female Rep or Male Rep or Machine Rep.

Edit: PS Chun-li would be a muscular woman who'd be alot of a better choice if you want a female muscle girl.. And would have more merit than being the Token Retro Throwback that is only in because it's tradition.

I want Shadow in, but only as an echo fighter, and dread the idea of a second Sonic unique. Right now. Until Arle makes it in, a second Sonic unique would be a death blow to any other SEGA character.

That being said, with no bias involved, and removing Arle from the equation, yes I'd support Tails. I just support Arle far too much for (what I perceive to be) unbeatable competition to be in play.

I was thinking that maybe they were spending October putting together some whopping two-hour Direct for November. Those trailers can't be easy to make, and they're most certainly time-consuming. (And expensive, yeah.)

I feel it may be for earlier marketing as I've mentioned in a previous post; we may get Incineroar after these characters, and Sora at the VGA's.

So Vergeben is now claiming Incineroar will be DLC. What strikes me as interesting is his wording, in that he wasn't actively denying the Grinch leak. His previous posts were just this leak not being what his sources told him, which is a much more fair approach than "Trust me guys, it's fake."

Nobody is attempting to put a character in Smash from minority quota, it's just some people like to see more of certain type of characters. You can say it have no effect on gameplay but positive reactions to echos show not everything is frame data and hitboxes.

As far as I remember, the only time that's happened has been with the Castlevania trailer, because the two characters were related. Otherwise, trailers are generally one character at a time.

I remember some people proposing that Skull Kid and Geno could share a trailer in a forest setting, which would make sense, but I don't know if that would work, because then the (soft) third-party character, Geno, would be sharing the spotlight with another character, and I don't think third-parties would like that.

I think it's more likely we're going to get just two individual trailers at the beginning and end, like always. If there's actually 7 or so characters left to be added, then there's probably going to be some in-engine trailers for them, like Ryu/Cloud/Bayonetta, since that many CG trailers would be long and expensive.

Well, Nintendo is doing great with Switch, and 3ds saved his asses from Wii U's failure, I doubt it.

And well, everybody's eyes is on RDR2 right now. So maybe they're waiting to November.

Honestly, I don't know. We literally just got an episode that focused on Masked Royal, so we probably won't see Torracat do anything until next year at the earliest. And even then, we don't know for sure when it'll evolve. We still have Hau/Dartix and Eevee somewhere down the road, and I can't imagine either of those plots lasting a single episode.

I think Torracat will evolve eventually, but not early enough for us to see any deep character development like we saw with Greninja. I'm starting to think this could be, "Torracat, you evolved into Incineroar! Now let's go beat the league!" and nothing else.
