I've pretty much ascended after K. Rool's confirmation, they could reveal the last character right now and it's Al from Toy Story 2 and I'd still be satisfied with the roster, so I shouldn't care much about the real vs fake discussion. But I do think the leak is stuffed full of so many characters who have been popular for so long, that it's near too good to be true. It's easy to hope it's real because it's got so many beloved characters, and I'd think that's exactly what a faker would want. Might as well go all in and get as many people hopeful as you can.
If it's real, and we actually have Snake, Ridley, King K. Rool, Geno, Isaac, and Banjo-f***in'-Kazooie in the same Smash game, it's a dream come true for a lot of people. God, I'd love for it to be real. But that's so many characters to reveal in a little over a month, I just can't shake the feeling it's setting us up for disappointment.
I'll keep hopeful, though. I've been burned before, I'll live.

The fact that 95% of that lines up with what we know though should tell people that this is either real or some actual real life plot twist designed by like 10 different world class mystery writers. How, of fake, can one person masterfully do all of this without a shed of inconsistency (I'm not talking about background art people so don't bring it up)?

Like, if you really want Steve in Smash, and you got him, good for you. But Minecraft is literally one of the biggest memes now. People say they would laugh if Goku or Shrek got in, and while Steve makes more sense being an actual video game character, he's still just as much of a meme as they are.

Yeah, can you even imagine what it would be like if a meme became playable in Smash Bros.?

A lot of these autocad templates are standard for advertising companies, but you still have to know a little bit about the program (which is admitidelly not a user-friendly one at all)

If the leak does turn out to be fake, I'm prepared. I've long held the belief that Ken and Incineroar would be all we had left, so I'd just fall back on that.

But losing Mach Rider and the Chorus Kids, two characters I would love but have long since given up on, and now have renewed hope for, would really, really suck.

As much as I would love for this to be real, I’m staying neutral and I’ll be better for it.

However, people’s expectations on the other side still bugs me.
This leak being fake doesn’t suddenly mean we only have Ken and Incineroar left. Your still parroting that Vergeban’s characters are the only ones left when we have known from the start that there are characters he doesn’t know, like K Rool and Richter.

Yeah, that's possible, but so what? Something I think a lot of deniers focus too heavily on is "well, they could have always..." which is definitely true, but to what end? Why painstakingly edit the mural only to show it for a few frames in the video? Why edit the Battlefield background and then show how it would be hung up for marketing purposes? Why add Grinch stuff for legitimacy and find a company that works for both parent companies then find an employee, and why instead of posting it to Reddit or 4chan send a snapchat to yourself and screenshot it, then cover up the name but only barely? Why dig through old fake leaks to find one you leak and make everything align with it?

Occam's Razor says the simplest solution is usually the correct one. Either an 1000-IQ genius painstakingly planted everything 20 steps ahead and the usual speculation YouTubers (like GX) just randomly decided to not give the most professional-looking fake leak of this hype cycle any attention, or someone sent a snap video of their job to someone who posted it while trying to cover for him and channels like GX who work with Nintendo don't wanna ruin a surprise? I don't deny that some deranged fan could do all this, but that means they've put more work into their fake leak than the US government did with the assassination of MLK. What seems more likely?

A decade passing doesn't suddenly wipe any existence a game had and made it forgotten by the masses. People still remember 80s movies exist. Again, Castlevania and Banjo are referenced pretty frequently (Castlevania has an entire genre named after it). If you had a game magazine subscription, went on a game newsite, looked up video game parodies on youtube, or other very simple and surface level stuff like that, you would most likely get exposed to those and know they exist. It's not like we're talking about some japanese only 10,000 copies sold game here.

As I said yesterday, people really, really underestimate the lengths people will go to for E-fame and to simply mess with people.

People also kinda underestimate what even one talented individual can do with today's programs. Individuals are capable of creating Pixar level animations and renders by themselves nowadays with how advanced the tools for content creation have gotten. I'm personally not ruling anything out.

The man is the PR for smash bros - the public image. He will say anything and everything he has to to get paid well; with multiple studios and investors afoot, it’s not nearly as much “just his company” as people think so

Probably more like the 8.8 direct, realistically. There's no real reason for them to have a huge extravaganze of info less than a month before release, since we're already hyped. I imagine Sakurai wants to keep some secrecy regarding the "Spirits" mode, since besides the name (if it's even the final name, it might've just been placeholder) it's one of the only things we know about that hasn't been leaked. We'll see though...

yea I agree like I don't like Incineroar (I think hes ugly af but my most wanted is rex i really shouldn't be talking) but he has passionate fans I'll give him that. No casual (or kid on top of that) thinks like this. Casuals don't go "awww man they added a crocodile but they didn't add *looks at best selling recent games* tetris block, angry bird, or minecraft steve. Guess I won't buy this". Casuals go "Wow they made a new smash game I can't wait to buy it and play with my friends I'll play as mario and you play the dragon". I'll go on a limb and say most casuals likely play characters they think look cool and that's it. Maybe a Pokemon too because everyone knows Pokemon. Also note there's different levels of casual. I would wager most video game players who would play smash but aren't big Nintendo fans but vaguely familiar with video games as a whole could still recognize castlevania and banjo, those are far from obscure.

Sakurai makes it a point to try to appeal to casual AND core, and considering an outright new audience exists now, this is especially important. These 7 characters left bug me because of this as casuals, the people who make up most of the fanbase, are being shafted a bit I feel and people here are going "WELL THEY'VE HAD THEIR FUN I WANT MY CORE" because Smash fans are Nintendo fans and Nintendo fans are stupid enough to whine about Nintendo LABO existing right after a core direct

Smash Bros is the biggest casual pleaser of the all, I do not understand this line of thinking either. It has ton of modes for single player, a gazillion characters, even more stages, bunch of music and trophies to keep everyone occupied and happy.

I have no problem with Incineroar, and I think even if this leak is true, there is a possibility he's in. What I would be pissed about (unavoidable, given how big this is real or fake) is if the leak is not only fake but Box Theory turns out somehow to be right. That will be a dark day if that happens.
