Actually the more I think about it, the more I think Mach Rider is the most shocking thing here. No support thread on the Newcomer Discussion and nobody realizing the rifle is a near perfect match until now. Regardless if it's real or not, nobody else thought of that. That's genuinely amazing

Shower thought: It's been confirmed the person working for the ad agency, with ties to Bandai Namco, is real. So, I'd expect him to get in trouble regardless if he faked it, or it was real.

If it was real, they would almost certainly be silent on it. Do damage control behind the scenes and wait it out until they can continue their reveals. If it's fake--do you think they would continue to be silent, or force the guy to reveal it's fake?

I was thinking of how in major leaks like these, if fake, usually the person comes out and says they did it. But if they don't--does make it feel more likely. Of course, part of the damage control could be for him to remain silent regardless--which is why I'm curious what you think.

Let me explain my logic behind going full Grinch.

I honestly think that the last direct will be a 50+ facts video. We will get all the characters as "facts" spread out throughout the video. Their stages also will be facts. Something like this layout.

Fact 1. Geno
Fact 2. Forest Maze
.....
Fact 10:Chorus Kids
Fact 11: Rhythm Heaven

etc

I personally believe heavily in Occam's Razor. The simplest explanation is usually the correct one. And going through all the hoops to assume that this leak is fake... I do not buy it.

The Grinch promo art, why would it be there? There is no logical reason other than it is just there. The damage control, the fact that the movement of everyone fits, the fact the background has noticeably changed. The effort it would take to move each character and make things not look super bad, all the details lead me to believe it is easier to say that this is real rather than fake.

It also helps that now is a prime time for leaks. Most smash games have had their big leaks in the three or so month period before planned release. Ninka/Vaanrose came out in July 2014, a few months before 4's 3DS release. ESRB leaked about 3 weeks before the games launch. ChaosZero and NyasaNya also were within a few months of Brawl's then planned December 2007 release. The time frame fits well for a leak like this to make waves.

The timing works well, the details line up well, it is so much easier to say it is real than just say it is fake right now.

Wii nostalgia guy here. I remember me and my family frantically scouring the internet for Wii preorders in 2006. Good times.

Also, Steve is tied with Sora for my most wanted 3rd party. I actually think he'd make a cooler addition than most other suggested 3rd parties, but that is of course only my opinion.

Okay so basically everyone connected to ResetEra in some way (Jon, that Steve guy, now Serebii/Joe) are saying this is 100% fake.

You have papagenos ' source who he seems very confident in saying that Banjo is 100% and that the leak is most likely real.

And then you have others like SpawnWave who seem to doubt it but aren't outright deconfirming it, placing most of his doubt on Geno and Banjo.

And then you have Vergeben who hasn't commented in the longest time in regards to Smash.

Even the insiders are all over the place. This leak certainly has made waves, that's for sure.

I don’t want to add fuel to the fire or draw attention, but when the leak was fresh yesterday I did actually show it to someone who I know gets insider info (knew about Ridley way in advance) and his comment was “those were all characters I’ve known about for months. I hope this isn’t true, why can’t people be surprised for once?”

I’m not identifying him because I don’t want to draw attention to him or myself, nor am I any kind of insider, but I felt that was worth mentioning. I also understand if no one believes me but I’m still feeling more real than fake.

Saying he's right 99% of the time is insanely generous. Joe has been wrong on stuff before, and will be wrong on stuff in the future. I'm not saying he's never been right before, I'm saying letting his opinion be a factor in whether you believe in this leak or not is silly since he isn't some monolith of accuracy.

Almost nobody in the Smash community actually wants Steve. Especially me, because this is like the only game left that's mostly oriented towards Boomers.

Seriously, I was presented with the possibility of Geno, Banjo, and Mach Rider in the same game. I NEED this to be a reality.

I tried giving you a secind chance, I really did but if you're gonna keep on being super toxic again it looks like I have no other options.

I remember a few times, particularly in recent memory of him being wrong on leaks before. I really wouldn't put much stock in him these days.

I think Spawn has doubts on Geno and Banjo mainly due to how they can get the properties and how much of a splash it would make not just in the eyes of Smash fans, but in general, the gaming community. Remember, Banjo has been long gone for more than 10 years, and people don't know what the whole Bear and Bird mantle in Sea of Thieves is. He does want them in, don't get me wrong, he's just also looking at the other side to see how public reaction will be.

BUT, he does want to give a fair stance unlike everyone else so that he can provide both sides of the coin, unlike insiders saying it's fake or papagenos going all in.

What matters most, though? That fateful day, December 6th. If we might actually get a reveal there at The Game Awards, and it just might happen to be Sora, literally every leaker and other info broker is BTFO'd. The Streak becomes a clean 10-0. Though, if there is a reveal there and it isn't Sora and he was actually right about guessing him, then we might have to think of how to go about if The Streak will go 10-0. I think to be fair, it should.

Thing is what sort of plot point could WFT be used for? It’s not like she’s gonna be cloned and used as enemies or something. And Ice Climbers worked because Meta Knight’s only option to take back the Halberd was to climb to the mountain’s peak, and the I.C.s just happened to climbing said mountain. I doubt the heroes will have to pass through the Wii Fit Studio in order to get to Bowser’s Castle or the Gangplank Galleon. I mean unless a big fight in a city or something has some heroes winding up in the Wii Fit Studio after being blasted through the wall, and WFT gets ticked off by the bad guys (I can’t really see WFT getting angry like that and deciding to fight because the studio wall broke.)

Dunno, just make her running for cardio or something and she bumps into Bowser and decides to make him fit or something.

Also, we are talking about the woman who warrior pose'd Mario, Link and Kirby to the next week because they can't do the tree pose properly.

Smashers I think we really need a spreadsheet or something where people can take a look at the news related to this, like a news feed or something, mostly for people that just woke up or wants to take a look after a while, it's impossible to keep all these forums and info in real time...

I keep seeing people telling (i.e) "it's over, look at this , this debunks it *shows an outdated info already confirmed not true/not 100% right*" just because they just woke up. It's totally understable but I think it's getting out of hand due the amount of news in a short span of time.....

I would do it but it's impossible for me to do it right now and I'm not very familiar with this kind of stuff, any ideas?

I think what makes this more real to me personally is just HOW divisive this is. ESRB leak was also super divisive and hard to point out what’s real and what’s fake, and even with this sources are scrambling to find the truth because some were told a certain character while others were told another. Overall the amount of uncertainty to it gives me hope.

I’d say it’s real but I could be wrong, the problem with going all in on one side or the other is you set yourself up for a bunch of people pointing fingers and saying “I TOLD YOU SO” when it’s wrong. You might even become a meme like the guy who said shulk was a photoshopped little mac, and who knows where that man is now. Just don’t put all your chips in one basket, for your own good.

The thing is, I don't think they'd make any connection they may or may not have with Nintendo known publicly until after December 7th when the game is released if it is the first time they're working together and Nintendo is (obviously) keeping them under NDA.

Ah yes, the classic 'everybody give up' because positions of authority who are 'always right' said to. I remember when Serebii was right about Sun and Moon not being legit names, or that the starter leak was fake. I also remember Liam Robertson being right about Splatoon 2 and MK8D being fake.

Insiders are not always right, and to claim so is to blindside yourself from a wealth of possibilities.

People keep assuming the Snapchat leak came from this print shop, a place that the supposed leaker does not work for anymore. We've known this since yesterday.

We've also known that the supposed leaker works for another company doing the same thing since yesterday. This company has not yet responded to anything, nor can we see if they work for Nintendo, possibly due to NDA.

So no, this response means nothing because it's not the company he works for. He hasn't for two years, and they wouldn't be making Smash and Grinch material two years ago. It's the OTHER company we need to look at, the one that isn't responding.

Before getting back to work want to throw it out there that papageno's source shouldn't be held as high as the others. According to his video it was an anonymous source he hasn't had contact with. The source proved their credibility but it is a one time source compared to multiple insiders who have be right before. And that source is really the only one in favor of this leak.

Unrelated to the quote - I know it's an exciting leak but we can't throw away all insider sources just because we don't like them :/
