IK people have attempted to tie Banjo and Chorus Kids to Smashified or official artwork but has anyone ID'd that Shadow stance? I don't recognize it immediately but if there is official artwork or fanart looking like that, that'd go a long way towards debunking this.

Not like I WANT to debunk this leak but I'd rather know if it's fake or not rather than rely on false hopes.

This is coming from someone who never liked the idea of Incineroar and would have preferred another Pokemon, directed at this fanbase: please for the love of god, if Incineroar is not in, don't let him become the next Chrom.
After the Robin reveal, he immediatelly became a hate magnet to all of the Gematsu haters and I really don't want to see another character get undeserved hate because of leaks.

Yeaaah, I wanna say just about any encouraging word but... I feel all of this as currently averse Chrom-fan due this type of memetic treatment for so many years. I really hope it won't be ending up happening to you by any miracle possible.

If that's gonna happen though, just remember here's one guy who'll empathize deeply with you. Though I know Ridley-fans were of course all the same in another vein. Probably better hope that Incineroar makes it as DLC so he gets salvaged out of this kind of treatment like Mewtwo did after being the butt of Lucario in Sm4sh-related jokes.

He said as much on Twitter, it's safer to go team fake. Especially with a leak as flimsy as this new one.

I didn't know someone giving up their job for a leak was "flimsy".

Let's be clear here: Eric is going to lose his job. Even if this is fake, using your access to confidential information as a means to try and spread false information under that pretense is more than grounds for firing, even if we assume that wasn't real Grinch material he leaked. Risking your job to leak real material to your friends over snapshot is stupid, yes. But throwing your job away to make a fake leak full well intending for it to be spread across the internet with your name attached to it is a baffling whole new level of stupidity. This leak is real because it fundamentally does not make sense for it to be fake.

The one exception here would be if someone legitimately hunted down an employee of the company to use as an alleged source for their fake leak and then created it under the pretense of pretending to be them. But between that, the grinch renders, all of the graphical details they had to account for to fake these images, the level of four-dimensional chess they'd have to pull off to accomplish that is not something I believe anyone went through.

I don't know if that was in reference to the currently discussed "leak", but they are nowhere close to compare. I could tell yours was fake in seconds...

Not to be rude though! A lot better than anything I could do. Just saying, it's not a good example of "fakes are easy to make!"

I'm not the best at Photoshop, there are people with better skills than me.
That was just an example and I did it in a couple of hours.
I know for certain that there are people who can make impressive fake leaks, with also 3D modelling and stuff.
That picture that I made is already more credible than 90% of the random 4chan leaks that occasionally spawn and that are incredibly low effort.

Geno - 10/10! Truth be told, I've yet to play Super Mario RPG, but after Ridley and K Rool being revealed, I've been wanting that trinity to become complete with my favourite design of the three. Plus, I've been a Smash fan since Brawl, so I've seen the Geno speculation for close to a decade now.

Isaac - 5/10. Truly neutral, on account of not having played Golden Sun. Good for his fans, though.

Banjo and Kazooie - I'm not a Banjo Kazooie fan at all please don't hurt me I just don't like the aesthetic particularly Banjo's design so 2.5/10

Chorus Kids - I enjoy Rhythm Heaven well enough. I'm a big rhythm game fan, and I particularly prefer more traditional ones, so I'm a little biased against it, but I'd still be happy with it getting repped. 7/10.

Ken - Partner is a big Puzzle Fighter fan, so I've got an attachment to Ken seeing as he's the highest tier character in that. Not my favourite SF character, would prefer Chun-Li, Blanka, or Juri, but I'm not going to be upset. 6.5/10.

Shadow - I adored him as a kid. I always liked the edgier equivalents to the main character, for some reason - Venom, Meta Knight, and of course, Shadow. I have a lot of sentimentality towards him, so 9/10.

Mach Rider - This is our only chance at a retro rep unless we get a Super Street Fighter-esque rerelease of the game, and while there are other characters I'd prefer, such as the Satellaview Mascots, Disk-kun, or Jerry Boy, I'm happy with this. 8/10.

What appeared to be a screenshot of the desk of a graphics designer was shown with what appears to be the full character banner.

And there's another 7-8 characters on it.

I think this is a realistic post-ballot scenario.

the final reveals all being Big name characters, 2 popular echoes, and a mandatory late retro revival reveal, seems reasonable.

If there had been no ballot, I'd be more skeptical.

I'm talking about the time the game came out, Sakurai even talked about how he wanted to expand the roster and they were low effort characters he could quickly introduce. Of course most of them aren't echoes/clones now.

Yes, different times, different mindsets. People's opinions on things will change with time. That's why he counted them then, but not now.

On a bright note, should this turn out legit, at least we’ve only seen the new characters in arwork form, right? We can still be excited to see their models, movesets, and official renders.

Not to say I support the idea of leaking Smash (I hate it), but if it had to happen, this would he the ideal way it could go.

So we know the dude exists, works at a real company, which works with another company(? not quite as sure on this detail), that works with Nintendo, and that we're seeing tons of things like Greninja's tongue which we haven't seen before.

All of that lines up.

What doesn't line up is the shadows on the bottom of the artwork (although that could have just been an oversight on Nintendo's part) and just the overall fuzziness/bluriness of the photo. Not to mention it *could* have just been 'shopped by someone VERY dedicated.

The Grinch stuff also lends authenticity. If we get new Grinch movie information and it has any **** that comes from this leak I say we're one step closer towards proving it real.
