Official Smash Ultimate Discussion

Almost one month has passed since release. In retrospect....

  • This is by far the best Smash ever. Like, I don't even know how they will top this.

  • Pretty freakin' good; I have a few qualms over things like internet play, balancing issues, etc.

  • It's ok, but [insert Smash game here] is better.

  • I'd rather play Parcheesi.

:ultkrool: is who I'm most excited about a heavyweight zoner that can also do good amount of damage looks fun as hell. I always play as heavyweights the most and I love villains. K.Rool is my favorite Nintendo villain and they captured his personality extremely well (a feat that hasn't been done since Rare left) and his moveset is almost perfect IMO.

:ultridley: Can't wait to try out as well. Another heavyweight villain. I love how savage he looks. Though from the gameplay videos we've seen of him so far don't instill confidence that he will be "good" but it really doesn't matter to me as I don't play Smash competitively.

:ultisabelle: Isabelle is 3rd. LOVE the Villagers playstyle so naturally I can't wait to try out Isabelle. Not to mention I love Isabelle as a character. She will become one of my "troll picks" when playing with friends.

:ultinkling: Can't wait to try them out as well. The ink refill mechanic is intriguing and so is ink your opponents to deal more damage. I love Splatoon so naturally I love the Inklings.

:ultchrom: My two favorite Fire Emblem characters to play with on the roster are Roy and Ike. So naturally when you combine the two you get Chrom so of course I'm gonna enjoy playing as him. I love Chrom as a character as well.

:ultdarksamus: While I haven't played much Samus since the Brawl days. I gotta say Dark Samus looks so much fun to play. While yeah she is an echo and looks to have the exact same moveset as Samus. I can't deny that her animations are badass and what can I say I LOVE to play as the villains.

Don't care about :ultsimon::ultrichter: and :ultdaisy: in the slightest. My goal is to try and go the whole game without unlocking a single 3rd party character so I can have the "perfect roster"

Since people are talking about the current newcomers we have....
:ultsimon:+:ultrichter:are the two I am most excited for. I was never a huge fan of Castlevania, but seeing them play in the footage we have seen made me very interested in both of them
:ultkrool:is the next one I am looking forward to. He just seems really interesting to play as
:ultisabelle:+:ultinkling:are tied for my next one. I really want to play both of them, and I feel like one of them could easily become one of my mains.
:ultridley:+:ultchrom:are tied next. Chrom is my most looked forward to echo (besides Richter) because I always loved Roy in Smash 4, but I hated how his sword worked.
:ultdarksamus:+:ultdaisy:are tied. It's not that I am not interested in them, i just like others more.

There are so many things wrong with that last statement, I'm just going to let everyone else tell you why it's dumb, and I'll just sit here and watch.

Ah yes, how could I forget Daisy, our new third party addition who trumped Sora as a Disney Princess.

Oh trust me I'm ready for it. I don't like 3rd parties in Smash I've made that perfectly clear in the past. If you do that's fine. But if the "amiibo" unlocking thing is true it won't be hard for me to skip out on unlocking 3rd parties. Why does it matter to you anyway? It's my roster.

Wasn't claiming Daisy was a 3rd party. I just don't care about the character. I don't like Peach's playstyle and I don't like Daisy. I'm still gonna unlock her but I will never use her. Maybe I should've wrote that better.

Ridley is someone I'm going to pick up no doubt. I've waited for him long enough.
The Inkling's Ink management seems interesting, but it looks like it become a hassle.
Isabelle... I wasn't a big fan of Villager, probably won't be for her either.

King K. Rool's playstyle definitely caught my attention.

For me personally, the Belmont Boys are definitely the most exciting new additions, especially after having played Super Castlevania IV recently and gaining an appreciation for their moveset. It's part of the reason why I'm really looking forward to Rondo of Blood and seeing how the rest of their moveset could work within Ultimate. Who I'll pick between the two is hard to say right now, as I love Simon's look more than Richter's, but Richter's personality more than Simon's. I'm thinking win poses and taunts will probably be the deciding factor for me.

Being a massive Metroid fan, Ridley comes next simply because I'm really happy he finally made his way into Smash. I'm not sure his playstyle is going to jive with me in the end, but I am willing to give him a shot nonetheless.

Inklings look like a lot of fun, and as a fan of the series, they seem to have been replicated very faithfully for Smash. I'll need to test just how long it takes to run out of ink and how quickly it takes to refill it, but I could see them being a great character to use. I do tend to gravitate to more unique playstyles as well, considering I love using Mega Man.

Isabelle, while having never played an Animal Crossing game, does look like someone I'd pick up were she in another fighting game (ala Roll in MvC2 and TvC). I could never quite get adjusted to Villager's moveset, but hers looks like a more interesting version of his, and a little easier to understand. Plus, she was one of my favorite characters in MK8+D, so I want to give her a go.

I love how K. Rool looks in Ultimate as well, extremely faithful to most of his appearances throughout the years. I do dabble with heavy characters on occassion (usually Dedede and Bowser when I want to take one for a spin), so I'll be comparing him with the rest to see how he fits. A heavy with a counter is hilarious, though I do worry about his recovery in the long term.

So, if I had to rank them in terms of interest as of right now, it would be as such:

:ultsimon:/:ultrichter:=:ultridley:>:ultinkling:=:ultisabelle:>:ultkrool:

All really close actually, with just some slight separations between each of them. There is a possibility that some of these may get rearranged as I spend time with them in Ultimate, but these are based solely on my impressions as of this moment.

I... Worded my post poorly, I will admit that, but the two major problems I had were that you called it the perfect roster, and the thing Nekoo pointed out. You said perfect roster, not my perfect roster, Implying that everyone's ideal roster should have no third parties, and if you don't you deceiving yourself. This was really a question of wording, and we both messed up, but I would at least edit your post to say my, sorry if I came of as aggressive, I meant no ill will

Yeah sorry I meant MY personal perfect roster. I know a lot of people love 3rd party additions and I definitely don't want to take it away from them but to me those are the least hype additions to me personally. I've said it in the past but the only 3rd party addition I would personally care about is a Resident Evil character. Yes I know it's extremely unlikely but if we got Redfield, Leon S. Kennedy, or Wesker they would definitely become one of my mains.

I'd say he's a Disney prince but he actually has a personality, so...

Jokes aside, unlike Princesses of Heart, Sora actually has darkness in his heart, so he probably can't count as one, regardless of how naive and optimistic he can be.

Okay, overanalyzing the joke is over.

That's even worse, because they weren't stating an opinion of who they would like to see, they were almost assuring that those characters would make it in the game.

So I come after waking up to see people talking about Sora being a Disney princess and I dont see no one mention the OFFICIAL rule set for a princess to be Disney
1- Be human
2- Be protagonist of an animated movie
3- Cant be originated from a sequel
4- Be royal, marry royal, or do an act of heroism
5- Make a lot of money
Sora is not a Disney princess cause he doesnt have an animated movie
If we get an KH movie and Sora is protag then he is an official disney princess
