Said people are not providing proof though.

By the way, I looked at the Reddit thread and it seems another fake leak.
One of the people who had a "proof" was a liar, he just linked a deleted Game Grumps video and said that it was the Smash Direct.
There is another screenshot and the notification comes with a Luigi's Mansion thumbnail, I really doubt it's legit.
But the biggest hint that it's fake, is that the original author of the post posted this

According to everyone else I'm a liar because somebody else came in and lied about it so I guess believe what you want. I saw the notification and so did a few others on Twitter so I'm gonna say Nintendo **language** up somehow.

yet he left the link to the "liar"'s post as a proof in the op, despite all the mutliple edits he did to the post to add more proofs.

EDIT: well sorry, I misread, in one of the edits he actually said that the first "proof" link is lying, but he left the link there anyway
I still think it's fake, but a Direct/reveal next week has still a decent chance to happen for real regardless of this.

I really don't expect a direct, or hope it's not a direct anyway, Would feel too final, which is what I'd expect from the next direct anyway. I'm personally just expecting a Robin style reveal with the Direct revealing final characters being November.

Oh yeah! Definitely gonna main him. I've always said Spongebob with his bubble powers from Battle for Bikini Bottom was well suited for Smash. I hope this song makes it in.

I don't think Ultimate's in the Unreal engine--that was a common mistake after E3 because the credits included Unreal, but that was for other games in the Direct.

64 Pikachu vs. Melee Fox vs. Brawl Metaknight vs. 4 Bayonetta vs. whoever you think is going to be the best in ultimate? (Personally, Meat beats pika, Bayo, Fox, and Simon hands down)
And
64 Luigi vs. Melee Kirby vs. Brawl Gannon vs. 4 Jigglypuff vs. whoever you think is going to be the worst in ultimate?
(I think 64 Luigi is the least trash, and would beat Samus, jigs, Gannon and Kirby)

The Wii was hacked very early on, which is why Brawl modding was huge.
The WiiU wasn't though, and Smash 4 wasn't as large as Brawl.

The Switch though, is already hacked.

Stopped reading at returning stages. I honestly feel like if we're getting more stages in base game, it'll be new ones, unless DLC.

This is so boring it could be true. If Shadow's an echo, he would probably not get a cinematic (though I'd be happy for that), and if he's a semi-clone, I don't think they'd be one after the other. Would be disappointed if 3 of the remaining stage spots went to returning stages--Fountain of Dreams seems like a good endpoint--but I'd get Pac-Maze, so I'd be happy. That's really the only thing that appeals to me and lines up with my most pessimistic expectations. Also, I've said it before, no way Spirits is not a placeholder title--Spirits and Box Theory really treat video game developers/marketing like they have no clue how to do their jobs (and yes, I'm not saying it's impossible, but I am saying it's improbable).

I'm actually quite interested to see how Smash Ultimate modding will go. In the past the first priority for most modders was bringing back characters and stages from past Smash games, now that all characters and most stages have returned, it would interesting to see how things will go this time around. Especially since we most likely won't be seeing a new Smash game for quite sometime again after Ultimate drops and its DLC period has wrapped up.

Wouldn't it be a creeper if we got a Minecraft assist? Steve will be playble, part of a stage's background, a trophy or not in at all. Also agree that returning stages are a massive red flag. And 'Shadow Cinematic' sounds unlikely, as that would imply he's not going to be an echo.

Really, really hope we hear something next week so we can stop with this endless stream of 'leaks'.

Wouldn't it be a creeper if we got a Minecraft assist? Steve will be playble, part of a stage's background, a trophy or not in at all.

Creeper, or the Wither, or the Ender Dragon, or any number of villager-type assists, or maybe the stage turns to night and a lot of mobs come out, or a zombie invasion, or anything.
