I wasn't even aware that was a Dragon Ball reference or had similarities. I don't have anything against Dragon Ball but I don't think non-video game characters belong in Smash and that applies to any movie/tv/etc franchise including the ones I love.

Ridley flies and they made him work. There is no excuse to not include besides him not coming from a video game first but hes the exception because he is a pop culture gaming icon.

did you just pick that one point, It is not the same thing at all look at any DBZ game or even the friggin anime, 95% of the time he is floating in the air, sometimes many many yards up in the air. Ridley as a boss from metroid has never fought like he was in the friggin matrix. ESPECIALLY considered Samus cant fly.

I am talking relevant wise. Honestly, Geno has been absent for good reason. He is an overhyped character only present in one game. He isn't even officially owned by Nintendo.

But for real though, while Geno is more eligible for Smash because he's a video game character, I do agree that Goku has more merit as a character in general. Now time to hide before I-

I've been thinking about Sakurai's reveal on pacing of characters. Then I remembered what might have been a big part of it. The fact we got all the previous characters and a few more in June, already showing near 70 right off the bat, might be a bit of the reason

Not defending that or his thoughts since I don't agree but... Do we all need to go full Keyboard warrior and write essay on a guy entilded to his opinion to prefer Goku over Geno?

Didn't we got the same callback like three time today to not all attack a user with his post whenever it was flame bait or whatever.

"No Virginia, Goku isnt gonna be in Smash." Course i aint flaming the guy i tried to be as civil as i could, even as a fellow DB fan.

I know you have a hate boner for Goku, but understand this.

It doesn't take much to work around the issue.
Just have him.....not fly indefinitely.

We have Bowser Jr. in a mech built for literally flying and yet he doesn't even get more than just the standard single mid-air jump.

Then there's the likes of Mewtwo and Rosalina, who are constantly levitating. They work fine in Smash without infinite flight, and they move around by hovering above the ground.

Just have Goku do that. And make him lighter because of being in constant levitation just like Mewtwo and Rosalina are,

Simple.
Of the issues with Goku being a playable fighter in Smash, that is not one of them.

Well, I don't intend to flame anyone on this site, but I will speak my mind as I please, so if I see something that I think is, to be blunt, stupid, I'll say something about it. Besides, I think "going full keyboard" is kinda an inevitable for some people on this site. This is the same site that counted chairs as "speculation evidence" after all.

Realistically, if you go for original Dragon Ball Goku I could see him playing a lot like Ryu. If we somehow ended up in the crazy timeline where he is in, that's the only way I'd accept him because otherwise there's no way he's not OP.

Besides, why do you want Goku to punch Mario so much? There's already basically an anime Smash bros, in fact multiple ones.

At this rate the constant need for Goku by folks. The next Smash should be a crossover called Nintendo vs. Shonen Jump which would pretty much be Japan's answer to the Marvel vs. Capcom series.

A character being "OP" in outside media doesn't mean jack for Smash.

If we were getting outside character I think it has to be characters that would work as a fighter and to bring a new experience for the gameplay in Smash.

For sure I believe that iconic characters that have a history and legacy like Goku, Sponge Bob, Mickey Mouse and few others make sense but licensing could actually be more difficult, challenging and more expensive then a 3rd Gaming Party character.

Also, since Super Smash Bros has many cross over characters from many series and even 3rd party’s, I have to wonder if these outside companies like Nickelodeon & Disney be ok to see both of their characters face off Goku or even ?

And the reason for that is because of the issues with obtaining his rights.
