If they're smart they won't reveal the results. You'd just have a bunch of over-entitled manchildren ******** and screaming about how they got done dirty.Do you guys think there's any hope of Sakurai/Nintendo revealing the results of the Ballot with the new game?
Ideally yes but I think advertisement characters are going to take up a lot of spots on the roster given the plethora of new games coming on the Switch. Most of the newcomers for this game will come from the Smash Ballot
And Nintendo/IS wants all the gears for their favorite franchise they love to push so much. I friggin hate it but it's true.Still, they're one small gear in a much larger machine. The games and franchises they make aren't any more important than what the other studios make.
True but personally I would much rather have the results accesiable to the public so we would know if certain characters are really as popular as we think they are or if there's characters we never considered that much that are actually really popular.I did say I was only semi-serious. But still, revealing the results probably wouldn't be the greatest idea, as it will likely cause a lot of unnecessary anger and arguing among Smash fans. It's probably best if we just leave the results unknown.
It's weird that Link has his BoTW design and Zelda still has her TP design.Found this in the Bayonetta Discord.
I think we need a source on how to replicate that for ourselves.Found this in the Bayonetta Discord.
Well, this picture is edited. It's weird that Link has his BoTW design and Zelda still has her TP design.
Isaac appeared in Dark Dawn so no. But on that note, I wish Sakurai would consider characters that only appeared during 4th and/or 5th gen too.Icies, Waluigi, Krool would be cool
Isaac might just be old enough to be retro now, a guy can dream right?
Smashboards has always been active. It's just that now we have an announcement and new information to boot, the gang has come back.Looks like it is finally time to start posting in this board. I've been purposely holding off until we got some sort of confirmation.
Am honestly 50/50 at this point between a port or a new game. My bias would prefer an updated port as I'd rather not deal with the stress of character cuts nor am I interested in buying a new line of Smash amiibo beyond newcomers. 3DS/Wii U had as prefect of a roster as most could hope for and I'd rather not see that lost so soon after development ended.
E3 is probably going to make or break discussion based on what is announced. That said it's awesome to have SWF active again.
What is there to reboot though? The core gameplay is fine, the games are fine, Smash 4 did very well. Reboots only happen to failures, or mixed games, Nintendo has no reason to rock the boat. Removing characters also would be a huge mistake, they'd get torched for doing that.
If you want a simpler Smash, than HD remasters would be the most likely bet.
It's going to have to happen sooner or later. We can'tNo reboot pls
Just no
If someone put a gun to my head and asked me to bet on a Pokémon newcomer, I'm picking Mimikyu for this reason. Arguably the best promotional character and might be something Sakurai might want to go for anyway since he did add Pichu in Melee. It makes too much sense not to add.I wouldn't let speculation dictate too much on who is or isn't likely. No one knows any more on who is in the game than anyone else. Other than the dev's themselves.
Mimikyu is at least a very popular pokemon with a lot of marketing behind it with its own song, is a popular and prominent character in the anime and even got its own Z-move in the latest Pokemon games.
The Gematsu leak was a doozy. So was the final leak that confirmed the final roster. You guys have any favorite "leaks" from the Smash 4 speculation days? I remember a pretty interesting Chorus Kids leak (which I didn't buy) but I think the fake leak that fooled the most of us (not all) was the Rayman leak by ArtsyOmni. I think he even came on the forum and apologized haha.
Yoshi, Pit, Donkey Kong, Peach, Ness, Marth, Mario, Link, Sheik, Pikachu, Kirby (might be jigglypuff), Samus, Zelda, Bowser, Fox, Captain Falcon, Wario.
People hated Icies because they had an infinite pummel in Melee and a chaingrab in Brawl. Also, since Icies were top-tier in brawl, without their chaingrab, they'll be... at the top of the mid-tier? I hope that Wolf, Icies and Snake make it in (though Snake is the least likely), as well.Who cares if IC's come back? The IC's were actually disliked by many. But snake should definetly make a return! Please please please bring snake back Sakurai! I personally don't have anything against IC's I guess, but what are they gonna be without their grab game?
Which reminds me... What mechanic changes do we want to see in Smash switch? (Bring back SHFFL!!!)
His opinion isn't worth taking seriously. Mimikyu's disguise ability doesn't even need to be in the game. That could be part of a gimmick. He can take small hits and retain regular damage, but let’s say you use a charged smash attack. Bowser’s drop kick for instance. Instead of falling of screen or taking heavy damage, Mimikyu’s disguise absorbs the hit and breaks. After it’s broken, he can have a move to repair it, but it just takes precise timing, and is risky to pull off. Ala WFT’s deep breathing. The longer he waits to repair the the quicker it’ll be fixed when he tries to fix it. If he tries immediately after it breaks, it leaves him open to take regular damage and knockback. Wait a few minutes and he can fix it lickty split.
There’s ways to make Mimikyu work. We can see him adjust his Disguise in the anime.
No, Mimikyu's disguise ability doesn't need to be in Smash at all. Problem solved. It has everything else it needs.I personally thought Mimikyu would probably have some kind of super armor unless it receives about 15-25% or so damage before it wears off for the rest of the match (or unless it loses a stock or maybe heals itself with a healing item, maybe) so it would be able to take a hit or two before being flinched, not sure how balanced that would be but I guess that's an option.
The point is not that the poll has to do with Smash.Stop acting like that poll means something for Smash. It doesn't.
Sakurai probably decided on the roster waaay before that poll.
It was probably just replicated using the models of the characters, so her model is probably just there as a placeholder. It's weird that Link has his BoTW design and Zelda still has her TP design.
She could use the Minis from Mario vs DK. The ideas are all in her support thread.I thought about Pauline being included, but I have no idea what they would do for her moveset. In every apperance she’s made, she always... just kinda stands there.
maybe they could make her hat from Odyssey possessed by a hat ghost?
I feel like it kinda does. It's pretty integral to Mimikyu's concept. In a pinch they could just make it a counter anyway, so it's not like a ton of thought needs to be put into it.No, Mimikyu's disguise ability doesn't need to be in Smash at all. Problem solved. It has everything else it needs.
I have high hopes, but I'm prepared for disappointment just in case. :VIncineroar will be the Gen VII representative.
Typically?New Gens typically have a starter represent them, with the exception of Brawl and Lucario.
I'm pretty sure that picture is just a fan interpretation of who the silhouettes could be and what it could look like. DK's pointed hair doesn't match the trailer's at all.Oh yeah, and I rewatched the Smash Switch trailer (you can watch it on Sakurai's website at http://www.smashbros.com/en_US/index.html) and at 0:56, you can see that the picture that NINTENDO Galaxy found on the Bayonetta discord is identical to the official picture to the trailer (albeit enhanced and with a white background). From left to right:
Yoshi, Pit, Donkey Kong, Peach, Ness, Marth, Mario, Link, Sheik, Pikachu, Kirby (might be jigglypuff), Samus, Zelda, Bowser, Fox, Captain Falcon, Wario.
I think you mean it doesn't have everything to do with being a starter. While I'd say Incineroar's chances are decent, that has nothing to do with it being a Starter.
For the love of God, I'm sick of Fire Emblem. We need to cut a character if we get another one.I'm willing to bet that the FE16 protag is going to be revealed in April or May in a Fire Emblem Direct and that a Gen 8 PKMN is going to be revealed at E3.
Fans of the Smash Bros. series have a good reason to be happy: The following part in the series releases 2018 for Nintendo SwitchAnyone here speak German?
It doesn't say anything interesting, but paraphrasing:Anyone here speak German?
"Following part"Fans of the Smash Bros. series have a good reason to be happy: The following part in the series releases 2018 for Nintendo Switch
In the reveal trailer, many familiar faces were to be seen, including Mario, Link and the Inklings from the Splatoon series
He most likely took a break from February through May/June that year. Which I guess is still substantial time for a break.I'm guessing Smash started development in February 2016. Sakurai said his job had already been decided right after he finished developing DLC. https://sourcegaming.info/2016/01/06/famitsu-news-sakurai-catching-a-breather/
That's more or less the same amount of time spent on Smash for 3DS and Wii U, and if they could make two games within that time period imagine how much they could add into one single game in that same amount of time.
The feeling is mutual but I think t's inevitable. Everything is aligning too much for it not to happen. For the love of God, I'm sick of Fire Emblem. We need to cut a character if we get another one.
I don't speak German but that's more or less what we already know just by skimming it.Anyone here speak German?
My favorite thing brewing under the radar w/ the new Smash announcement is that Kinopio-kun (or LINE Toad) always puts a disclaimer that he's not included in said title when he's advertising them..

Except with the new Smash 👀

I don't think Stanley can make it in, seeing as his main weapon is already represented by Mr. Game & Watch"s Jab 1 and Jab finisher.Personally I think this Smash's new "retro" character could be Stanley from Donkey Kong 3, considering so far there's no retro fighter that represents Nintendo's arcade lineup.
You hit my nail right on the head there with my idea of a "Smash 4.5/4.8" I previously proposed. Kudos to you, friend.
since I had to wake up earlier then I planned

I had time to make this, mostly went off @vaanrose's picks (+ zelda)
feel free to use it however you like I guess

Its written in stone. Melee is, a classic. Melee's gameplay may be frustrating but, it gets everything else right while not trying to hard. Melee's soundtrack is a core example. Pure timeless.BTW, how many of you consistently play Sm4sh? I stopped after probably a year and a half. I'm kinda wondering why I stopped playing. I played Melee for years. I played Brawl for years. But I don't think it's because I didn't like the new Smash, and in fact I had a lot of fun with it. But I do think not having a fun single player mode made it less fun if you didn't play with friends.
And also, I think I was so annoyed with the Wii U that it made me want to play Sm4sh less too. Knowing that the console was doomed and a new one was coming soon made me less excited to play, for some reason. Now that I like the Switch, I would be totally fine with having the same Smash game on it.
But at the *very* least, we know we're going to have some new characters, which is cool. I'm really looking forward to it, and I hope I play this one for a lot longer than I did the last one.
I thought of that also. Mimikyu's disguise ability really does contributes to its uniqueness.I feel like it kinda does. It's pretty integral to Mimikyu's concept. In a pinch they could just make it a counter anyway, so it's not like a ton of thought needs to be put into it.
Corrin should stay in, at least he plays different. And Lucina could always be a skin for Marth.Lucina, Roy, and maybe Corrin are going to be cut for the next Smash game, no doubt about that.
Lucina was just a whim that Sakurai had the time to make.
Roy feels like a character that will always be a DLC character.
Corrin was mostly put in to promote Fates, and with FE16 on the horizon and Echoes still fresh in the minds of FE fans, I doubt they'll come back to promote fates again.
