I think anybody expecting another massive information dump will end up disappointed. On the next Nintendo Direct, which may or may not be on Thursday, I think it'd be safe to expect maybe one fighter or one, maybe two Echo Fighters.

If we go off of Pokémon, we have a playable Electric, Psychic, Fighting, Steel, Fire, Water, Grass, Dark, Flying, Poison, Normal and Fairy type Pokémon playable. So we don't have a playable Rock, Ground, Ice, Dragon, Bug, or Ghost type Pokémon playable at all.

If we got a playable Pokémon of each type (dual-types included), what would you all pick? For me, Haxorus, Escavalier, Decidueye, Weavile, Gliscor, Beedrill and Lycanroc.

I'd expect zero fighters. If Smash gets mentioned at all, I'd expect some talk about how its online modes work to upsell the online service and that would seriously be it. There are not a lot more characters to be shown. We know this; Sakurai has told us this, and he's never lied to us. There will probably be another big Smash direct that will show most of the rest of what's in the game, and while I wouldn't be surprised at a spare character somewhere else, it's just so soon after the last double character direct that the timing would be strange.

Joking aside Grunkle Stan is actually my Mii Brawler of choice at the moment. He wears the Red Koopa Shell hat in place of his fez and the DLC buisness suit. I can't wait to punch Ridley in the face with him in Ultimate.

Or Dipper and Mabel as an Ice Climbers echo? What about Soos as a K. Rool echo? Spongebob as a Mario echo? Homura instead of Corey Baxter or Seinfeld?

You can't expect me to take you seriously when you offer up garbage like that.

Doesn’t it get boring being “safe?” Worst case scenario, we don’t get as much as we expect. If I’m flatlining after that, I wasn’t gonna make it to launch anyways.

If it’s just about the online Smash won’t be shown. If it’s the online + future games then you know Smash will reveal a newcomer.

My guy, Sakurai has lied to us so many times. And when you look at how many days there are until Smash Ultimate's release - being 94 days - there really isn't a lot of time left for revealing more Smash content. There's absolutely no way we are not getting a newcomer reveal in the direct.

Um, this is their biggest game of the year and it's releasing in 3 months, as long as the direct isn't specific to another game/franchise they're definitely announcing smash stuff

If we go off of Pokémon, we have a playable Electric, Psychic, Fighting, Steel, Fire, Water, Grass, Dark, Flying, Poison, Normal and Fairy type Pokémon playable. So we don't have a playable Rock, Ground, Ice, Dragon, Bug, or Ghost type Pokémon playable at all.

If we got a playable Pokémon of each type (dual-types included), what would you all pick? For me, Haxorus, Escavalier, Decidueye, Weavile, Gliscor, Beedrill and Lycanroc.

Ghost: Decidueye
Rock: Aggron? Nah, Kabutops. Aggron's too heavy and everything. Kabutops has cooler things.
Dragon/Ground: Zygarde, most likely with a transformation gimmick.
Ice: Weavile
Bug: Scizor

Sakurai said there's "still a few more fighters left" to be revealed. It's a vague statement that seems to suggest a lower count of fighters, but honestly it's up to interpretation what Sakurai thinks is "a few more". Keep expectations low, but I do think he has a few surprises up his sleeve, they wouldn't blow their load so quickly revealing 5 characters in one direct (even if 3 are echoes) like they did.

Also if we're getting any sort of main direct speaking about Switch games, there is no way they wouldn't show at least SOMETHING for smash. This is their big title for a long time, their system seller, even moreso than Mario and Zelda.

Let's see, for me, I'd go with:
Bug: Golisopod or Buzzwole
Rock: Kabutops
Ground: Landorus (being able to switch between normal and a quadrupedal form could make for an interesting character)
Ice: Froslass
Dragon: Kommo'o
Ghost: Golurk (not only a ghost pokemon rep, but a living Gundam too? A shame he was never in before in some way)

I hope the next Direct reveals whomever the new Pokemon rep is....if there is one. I'm kinda taking it for granted that there will be one, but since every Smash has had a new pokemon, it seems like a safe bet. I'm hoping for an Ultra Beast, Necrozma (thought more about him and it would be cool), or Golisopod, but I know Incineroar is most likely. I'm fine with him, he'd make a good rep, but I'll keep hoping for those other choices for now. Since both Sun/Moon and Ultra Sun/Moon focused on the introduction of 'Ultra Beasts' and Necrozma had his own story in the Ultras, I feel like they've got a decent chance if its any pokemon other than Incineroar that makes it. Fingers crossed!

Also, this is VERY wishful thinking, but I hope there's Axiom Verge content in ANY capacity for Smash Ultimate. Just bought it a couple of days ago, and it might just be top 5 best indie games of all time. If we get a track, I'm already gonna call this game best Smash.

Actually, she's an Echo of both.
Finally, it's not just Gravity Falls representation this time around, Steven from Steven Universe is an unique fighter while Amethysts is a Richter Echo, Pearl is a Bandana Dee Echo(bandana dee will not be playable unfortunately, as his file got corrupted) and Garnet as a Little Mac Echo. Finally, Rose Quartz is also an unique fighter alongside Pink Diamond as her Echo. The other Diamonds were considered too but Sakurai thought they were too big to fit in and sizing them down would be a disgrace to their characters so instead he's adding Uncle Grandpa as a Kirby Echo.
