The new Yoshi game will have a trailer. It’s name is Yoshi’s Wooly World 2: Flipside
There will be an announcement about the 2nd round of dream friends in Kirby Star Allies, along with a harder mode.
WarioWare Gold is being ported to the Switch.
There will be a small segment about Mario Odyssey DLC, biggest thing being modern recreations of Mario 64 levels.
Pokémon will show up. Strangely nothing about the 2019 game, just some more info about Let’s go.
Star fox racing will be announced.
There will be an announcement about a major AAA game port.
Smash will end off the direct. It will start with a trailer of a fighter I cannot get info of, but then go into game info. Smash run, Hit the Targets and Smash tour will come back. There will be a story mode, but no where near as big as Subspace. The direct will end for the trailer for Simon Belmont.

This may be from the leaker but could also be from an anon impersonating them

Still technically the least amount of newcomers added to a Smash Bros. game, Sakurai wasn't exactly lying by what he said.

Smash Run getting expanded. Fans will be pretty pleased I think. Ties into the new streamlined method of unlocking. Won't say any more than that.

Smash Tour is coming back and with some "improvements". You pick a character and stick with it now. Basically just regular Mario Party but with fights (with or without modifiers) instead of minigames. Could actually be not garbage this time around.

New trophy collecting mode like Coin Launcher. Literally pachinko.

All-Star has an alternate mode where you fight em in the same order in the trailer/site - by order of smash reveal.

The ****ing doll is an assist trophy lmao.

DLC is obviously coming, but dev won't really start till after the game's already out so who knows what's in store.

Hope you like the main theme, it's liked used in like every menu and original stage, not like that's really unexpected for Smash.

The Hood + MK logo = Karate Joe? I mean he's completely white alongside a franchise that focuses on karate I guess, but then again that could be my personal bias for a RH rep.
Hagrid = Could be Ashley or some magic based character.

There's so many "obscure/WTF" picks I want in the game, most of them are retro or just not really popular.

Mach Rider and Star Man are both retro from the NES era, but Pro Wrestling sold a ****ton of units (one of the best-selling actually) compared to Mach Rider. However, the rifle comment made by Sakurai gives Mach Rider hope, plus he's on a dang motorcycle. Ayumi, though I don't know much of, is literally just Nintendo Phoenix Wright in terms of mechanics potential. If MvC3 made him work, Nintendo can make her work.

Black Shadow from F-Zero was made a joke in GX's Story Mode but is a total chad in every other installment. Zoda's trophy in Smash references Black Shadow being the one who made him powerful, which is only true in the anime and its subsequent spinoff games. It doesn't heighten his chances, but they make it aware of its existence.

Captain Rainbow is an obscure game about obscure games. That's pretty much it, he's the amalgamation of WTF characters that became one when his game didn't sell that well.

Ninten and Giygas, while pretty notable and well-known in the Mother franchise, don't have much going for them outside of it. I don't know how well Mother 1 sold on the Wii U, but I can't guarantee it's as impactful as Mother 2/3. Porky and Claus also share equally high potential for taking a piece of that Smash cake, as Giygas in question would only be using my trademarked Mewtwo on life support body.

M Rated games are also cool with Bayonetta and Snake being included. Jack Cayman from Madworld and Travis Touchdown from No More Heroes, both on the Wii respectively. However, Jack's SEGA property and Travis is Ubisoft property, and we all know Rayman's first in line.

This may be a bit weird to say, but all I want out of Smash Ultimate's top tier character is for them to not be Pikachu, Fox, Meta Knight, or Bayonetta.

Every Smash has had a different top tier character, and I'd be interested in seeing who that ends up being this time around. I really hope it's not Bayo again most of all though, that'd be disappointing.

Yes I'm quoting myself because this is a followup that I would like to be seen. Please don't judge me.

Anyways, I've kinda been figured out the characters.
-Mortal Kombat + White Hood is either King K. Rool (Dragon/Lizard, King K Rool) or Ray MK III (Mortal Kombat = MK, 3 Ks, MK III)
-Hagrid is Ashley
-Groucho Marx Disguise could literally be Marx, or it could also be Mimikyu as it's ability is Disguise
-The "OK" emoji is Chibi Robo (His hands look like that) or Shadow

The hand is Black, and appears to be shaped in a C motion. There's one popular character i can think of that is black and is associated with something that starts with a C -Chaos Control

-Elmer Fudd is Elma (That's how he pronounces his name because of his lisp), or K. Rool due to the broken blunderbuss (think the end to DKC 2)
-Hall Monitor Spongebob could be Ayumi Tachibana

I think the hall monitor refers to Ayumi Tachibana. Spongebob was trying to figure out who the maniac was.

-HG King Jellyfish is Dark Samus

Dark Samus (HG is Mercury, and from what ive heard, Some Mercury team worked on Samus Returns. King (or queen in this case) is probably referring to some type of Queen Metriod, which i Believe Dark Samus was from what ive heard. Helps that the Jellyfish is blue

-The Tiger is either Heihachi (It's literally the back of his shirt), Lloyd (Tiger Blade and Demon Fang), or someone suggested Travis Touchdown as he can literally turn into a tiger.
-Holy Water is Simon Belmont

Nobody should ever think a character deserves to be playable in Smash, nor should they think Sakurai should include someone in the sake of another's appearance being introduced. It doesn't make their chances any more possible than it was last time. If they get the Waluigi treatment, all you can do is live with it and move on. Don't be high off hype, that's the last thing you want to do.

Do you guys think the game will be well-balanced despite the massive roster? I think priority number one should be to make sure there's no God- or Trash-tiers. Obviously you will never have a roster that is 100% balanced unless there are only two characters, but I'd hope that nobody is too strong or too weak.

Just by virtue of patches existing it will be (and unlike Smash 4 it won't have development shift focus to an immediate new Smash game just a year after release, so the patching will probably end up going even longer), but it also has the tremendous benefit of building directly off of Smash 4, already by far the most balanced Smash game (especially if Bayo and Cloud were significantly nerfed), with the same development team. Then there's additionally the universal 3 frame jumpsquat and landing lag significantly lowered across the board, which is going to be more helpful in general to the lower tier characters, as they typically have slower jumpsquats and more landing lag. So even if the roster is huge, it has a lot going for it balance-wise.

No, I loved Wolf's up smash, not only was it good (especially as an OoS option with its decent horizontal reach that hit both sides simultaneously) and unique for a u-smash, but it could also be used as a fun taunt too. Who cares if it has a similar animation to Sonic's uair, most moves have another move in the game that they have a similar animation to.

The real travesty is if it's back but Wolf no longer shouts RAAAWWWORRRRLLLL during it.

While it's very true that a lot of Smash characters share move animations, in most cases those shared animations/moves either make sense or look good. Wolf's Up-Smash may be a unique Up-Smash, but it looks really weird, especially alongside all of his other moves. The same can be said about his Neutral Air, but they already changed that.

And I'm not saying it was bad utility-wise, all I'm saying is that it really doesn't look good on him.

Furthermore, getting a new Up-Smash isn't the same as losing a good Up-Smash. They could always make a new Up-Smash just as good, if not better.

I just feel like they could do better with Wolf, animation-wise I mean. They've already given him a cool new Down Throw, nice visual effects on his moves, a new idle animation, a new dash attack, N-air, and more.

It's kinda like Wario's transition from Brawl to Smash 4, but bigger. They cleaned up a lot of Wario's janky animations in the transition, and he's very obviously smoother by comparison. I feel like Wolf could also use this in his Brawl to Ultimate transition, since he had lots of janky animations in Brawl.

Just looking at the little footage we have of Wolf, it's clear how much he's been improved since Brawl, animation-wise at least. He just looks so clean, and I'm hoping they go further with that.
