Heck, Pichu vs. anyone is gonna be fun. (Well, for me, at least.) Pichu and I are gonna be training until we're capable of taking down Bayos.

I thought I'd share what I think the remaining fighters might be at this point (the two on the bottom right are echo fighters).

I'm really only expecting 5 more unique characters, but trying to remove one of them from the list was too hard, and I already feel bad for leaving out Dixie.

Here are my honerable mentions.

Honestly, if we're talking Sakurai's personal likes, both Incineroar and Decidueye check a lot of boxes.

Decidueye is a dorky () and reserved () archer () with wings () that's also a bird (?)

Incineroar is a fire-based () wrestler-type fighter () that's mysterious () and branded as a pseudo-villain () in a very anime-trope-y way. () Oh, and he's a cat, which Sakurai likes.

So either one has the potential to strike his fancy.

Sakurai is also the man that gave Pit swords in Brawl instead of making him a dedicated archer, though. And he likes grapplers if Ganondorf (his main) is anything to go off of.

This started out as a mere fantasy in my head but now I'm convinced this is going to happen: randomized rosters at launch. No matter how I slice it, whether it's during the Nintendo Direct or when reading Sakurai's column, the wording is always vague enough for it to be somehow realistic.

What's your most wanted game mode, aside from another subspace emissary? For me, I'd definitely love a multiple character stock mode. Also, I saw somebody mention a king of the hill mode where you fight to hold a zone, that'd be fun too. Capture the flag on a big stage would also be awesome.

It may look unorthodox, but Buzzwole could offer a unique fighter mechanic; Beast Boost. I've actually done up a concept on how Beast Boost could work at Buzzwole's support thread.

Well this minecraft add bodes well for Vergebens leak...

But if i had to GUESS im going to say there is NOT a microsoft character in the base roster and just a minecraft stage/assist/something. I'm guessing this was a late in the game development and the characters were likely chosen years ago.

And, of course, that means even more advertisement for the game... the rest of us can just not watch them, of course.

Who knows, maybe all the extra revenue will theoretically lead to a bigger budget for the DLC? (Actually, probably not, as Nintendo is a corporation and corporations pretty much just hog their extra profits and do nothing with it, but maaaaaybe...)

If I could pick the Pokemon newcomer from Gen-7, I'd go for the sweet ghost archer owl (my starter in-game), or the little eldritch horror disguised as the game mascot. Either would make my day. Wrestling cat is just all kinds of boring for me, but I can see where the fighting potential comes from for sure.

Of course. Which is precisely why it wouldn't have made sense for him to be revealed anywhere else but E3 for maximum publicity and hype and thus why I personally doubt he is playable in the base roster.

1: When did the Miis do anything involved with archery in Smash?
2: What I mean is that there's more to use the archery gimmick than "Their Neutral B has them shoot an arrow". Archer Kirby and Hawkeye were including in fighting games meaning it can work, the former example's in a Smash-esque game too

Here is a fun question, what not obvious characters (Chrom, Shadow, Impa, etc) could be echo fighters or semi clones like Dr. Mario and make sense? I mean characters that no one would expect to be echo fighters (like being a clone in melee)

For example gooey being a Kirby echo, he has a similar body and can also copy abilities.

I get the feeling that Sakurai's way of addressing the demand for a playable Toad was by having Toad be more involved in Peach's/Daisy's moveset. Of course Captain Toad is his own character, and you can totally have Captain Toad coexist with the Toad in Peach's moveset, but I just don't see it happening right now.

I would love to be wrong though, because Captain Toad is one of my most wanted characters.

I don't recall Kirby's fighter being that complex.
Hawkeye has a bajillion type of gimmick arrows, of course he could work with mostly just arrows.
I'm not saying Decidueye isn't unique enough or that he can't work with just arrows, but IMO the character concept alone being more unique doesn't make it more likely to be chosen. For all we know he may have just chosen Incineroar because it looked easy to implement, or better yet: no Pokemon at all and wait for DLC.

Regarding the whole Minecraft would attract people to Smash...has anyone seen evidence of this??? Like a dedicated fire emblem fan deciding to play the new smash because they put in Robin, or an animal crossing fan picking up smash because finally they can play as villager.

Amongst myself and friends ive only experienced the opposite where encountering a character or series through smash brought me to play that game. I got into fire emblem through Awakening because I loved Robin in Smash 4. Hell, I only picked up Wind Waker, my first Zelda game, because I played Smash first.

Just curious if anyone actually had examples of the opposite.

Not that Minecraft is undeserving, but I’d prefer a stage over blockboy. A Minecraft stage could be really cool.

I wonder why people don’t consider more Stage options. Like how ridiculously cool would a Tetris stage be? That’s always my first goal in Stage builder.

It isn't but it's still a game in which there's a character who uses archery.

There are very few permutations of Smash panning out where I would be positive about Steve's inclusion, but yeah if I can get my KOS-MOS dream achieved then I simply could not and would not complain.

Or just make him not be able to jump or get knocked back until he reaches 100% when the backpack just "slips off". But it comes at the cost of him being crazy fast and mega powerful.

1. ZERO SUIT SAMUS'S TASER HAS BECOME AN ELECTRIC WHIP-GUN.
2. ZERO SUIT SAMUS HAS ROCKET BOOTS

Which I would personally say is a bigger departure from the character than Cpt. Toad jumping.
