Joker is not getting in. Sega getting three reps will be overkill. Also, his entire franchise has never touched a Nintendo console outside of spinoffs.

But what if they just balanced that out by adding a third Capcom "rep?" There's lots of great Capcom characters! Personally, I'd vouch for Phoenix Wright.

The Witch was always received well. It's just her chokehold she put into suffocating Smash 4's competitive scene has kinda hampered her goodwill from new fans.

From what I saw, it felt like there were more people upset by her inclusion than happy about it. I haven't met a single person in-person whow as happy she was added. Obviously she has a big fan base due to how she got in, but I think she was far more controversial than Joker would be.

Weird, I was sure Sakurai wanted to make the "BEST Characters game"and also said that "Being on a Nintendo Console" means jack**** for third parties alongside smash being a "gaming celebration"

Well, to be fair, most people don't consider Atlus characters Sega characters. Atlus being a subsidiary of Sega only makes them Sega characters technically and for characters created before the buyout, they're only Sega characters retroactively.

And Cloud never made a single appearance outside of spin-offs on Nintendo systems. The franchise has made Nintendo appearances.

Your reasons don't actually really do anything to explain why he can't get in. Sega getting 3 reps? Doesn't matter. It's a matter of how easy they are to get, which considering Sega is very friendly with Sakurai overall, makes a Persona/SMT character actually pretty easy to get. The only real competition for Joker is Jack Frost franchise-wise.

We also know that having a Nintendo appearance isn't even a requirement, though it is helpful for sure. But even if Joker never had one, he'd still be fairly easy to get compared to some characters just due to the fact that Sega is far easier to work with than some. There's a reason Bayonetta got a crapload of content compared to Cloud and Ryu. Never mind Sonic as well. Licensing gets easier with companies who are more likely to work with you.

Ultimately, his chances are actually pretty good. Considering he has... one character as competition and all.

• Sonic, Bayonetta, and Jack Frost for Sega.
• Megaman, Ryu, and Phoenix Wright for Capcom
• Cloud, Sora, and Slime for Square Enix (one for Square, one for Enix, and the obligatory Sora)
• Snake, Simon Belmont, and Bomberman for Konami

I'd be down for more Bandai Namco characters, too, but they're not quite as heavy-hitting as the above are. Heihachi and Klonoa, namely.

Listen, I still believe Joker has a real shot for Smash. I can write down several good points in his favor, and I think he has an incredible shot at DLC. This particular rumor I believe is fake, though. If it's real, you mother****ers will never hear the end of it from me because Joker is in Smash. But I'm not putting faith in this rumor.

(with Q2) Joker and Yu will both have had as much of an appearance on a Nintendo console as Cloud. And there's plenty of Final Fantasy characters who were on Nintendo consoles in their full-blown games.

Maybe, but...

To me, as someone who is not familiar with the franchise (basically, as a "general public" person)...

I'd never heard of Shin Megami Tensei until Persona. Soooooo...it's kinda like Persona has become the mainline series.

...But that's just one interpretation.

I think I heard of SMT before Persona. I never played any of the games, though. That said, I do overall like what the series generally is from my research. It'd be very neat if we got SMT/Persona content in overall~

Aw, don't give up! It's just that...everyone's going to have varying opinions, and you'll find times where it seems like no one agrees with you.

I want Dragon Warrior in Smash, but I have found very few people that agree with me. Everyone says "no," or "Slime is better."

If you stick around, I'm sure you'll find people and posts you like, and you'll probably present some idea or opinion that a lot of people like! I'm sorry if it seemed like anyone was mean to you...your opinion is completely valid.
