Literal Overwhelming and overhyped levels of Hype.To be honest the exact same. Pac-Man was my most wanted third party at the time just because he's the very foundation of video game mascots to begin with.
How most people reacted to Megaman's reveal I reacted that way to Pac-Man.
On that subject I'm sure it's been done before but I haven't seen in a while;
Rank the reveals that got you most pumped up in Sm4sh.
Here's my list:
(because of the ballot)
(although
was the biggest reason, my favourite semi obscure villain)
(never played Megaman before so...)
(likewise for Cloud, but I knew who he was)
(a literal who to me at the time)
(only character I never bothered buying)
(if he counts as a 'reveal' at the end of palutena's trailer)
(literally who)

And the fact that at that E3 Wii Fit Trainer was revealed behind closed doors at a developer conference , and then the following year Pac-Man was revealed that way. So no telling who will show up when lol.About the "who's hype for E3" debate: Wii Fit Trainer was announced at a E3
so E3 isn't just the heavily famous/requested character. It's also the place of the oddballs. The ones we aren't expecting. So yeah it's really hard to say who will be in it
You are aware that Lycanroc can't change forms, right? The form that it gets is what it's stuck with forever.I'm sure Sakurai can take some artistic liberties like he did with Capt. Falcon. Either Dusk Form Lycanroc can attack by raising up the ground, (mud, rocks, and sand) for its moveset like an earthbender, or put transformations back in the game and allow Lycanroc to switch between Midnight, and Dusk form.
Agree on all other points, but apparently one company owns all rights for Dragon Ball video games: Bandai Namco. Things might be easier on the licensing part of the deal. I'm not saying he can, should, or that I want him in the game, just that no one should be 100% dead-set on him not being in the game. The request for him is massive, and it might be even more than we think, since people must've stopped being vocal in the internet about it when the mere suggestion of it results in dozens of angry "SHUT UP ITS NOT HAPPENING EVER" replies. I've heard a lot of casuals talk about Goku in Smash IRL, and they make it sound like nothing could beat that hype. I guess what I'm trying to say is that "Goku in Smash" is much more than a meme, or a vocal minority.Goku isn't happening for the simple reason that he would be an absolute licensing nightmare
If Palutena was hype worthy last E3, while Pac-Man was a closed doors thing, then yes, absolutely.Would Simon Belmont be E3 hype worthy?
Simon Belmont would be hype worthy to me, E3 or no E3.Would Simon Belmont be E3 hype worthy?
I guess they figured Pac-Man didn't need to be shown in the spotlight as much as Palutena, due to how recognizable he is.I never understood why such an obscure character like Palutena was given the E3 spotlight instead of giving it to a gaming icon like Pac-Man himself, which instead was shown in a closed doors press conference, as has already been mentioned.
sakurai made the newer kid icarus game and revived the series so i think he considers her one of his characters at this point, she had possibly the BEST trailer, made me want a smash anime, so i assume so much time was put into animating that because of a slight sakurai bias for kid icarusI never understood why such an obscure character like Palutena was given the E3 spotlight instead of giving it to a gaming icon like Pac-Man himself, which instead was shown in a closed doors press conference, as has already been mentioned.
Or because Kid Icarus already had animated cutscenes and it's easy to commision same work from same studio. And Palutena showing in E3? I kinda doubt Sakurai can decide the whole thing but it can be because:sakurai made the newer kid icarus game and revived the series so i think he considers her one of his characters at this point, she had possibly the BEST trailer, made me want a smash anime, so i assume so much time was put into animating that because of a slight sakurai bias for kid icarus
The ballot never stated that the absolute number 1 choice in terms of votes would automatically be chosen and the ballot came across as more of a suggestion box than a poll. Even in a hypothetical scenario where Cloud was chosen from the ballot but he only received like 50 votes, he'd still be a valid ballot choice.winner of the ballot my butt, im fine with her and would rate her higher on characters i like if she wasn't the ballot winner but not hype and thought it was a cop out ballot winner so her reveal was a disappointment to me.
It's because of Sakurai bias!I never understood why such an obscure character like Palutena was given the E3 spotlight instead of giving it to a gaming icon like Pac-Man himself, which instead was shown in a closed doors press conference, as has already been mentioned.
I think it's the latter as I doubt he'd take a half year breather for the reasons already stated, and conceptual development (ex. the project plan, initial scheduling, etc.) can be done away from physical development on the game. Theoretically, they could've spent the first few months preparing for development of the game and then on or before August started getting into the real meat of it.If Bandai Namco started production of Smash Switch in August 2016, does that mean Sakurai took ~6 months for his "breather", since development of Smash 4 DLC finished somewhere around early February (or perhaps even earlier)? Or did he start work on Smash Switch earlier without Bandai Namco?
I personally think the breather lasted ~1-2 months.I think it's the latter as I doubt he'd take a half year breather for the reasons already stated, and conceptual development (ex. the project plan, initial scheduling, etc.) can be done away from physical development on the game. oh all very true about bayo, and if cloud had "won" i'd have no complaints but since we are making a "hype" list i had to go with my initial bayonetta hype which was pure disappointment for me and even a bit of anger that she "won" when it really did not feel like that was the case. in hindsight and with the knowledge of a new smash game coming out this soon and that the ballot was probably also for that game etc... I get why she got picked and again im even totally fine with her being in the game and think shes a deserving character but if we are talking reveal hype thats was my reaction. The ballot never stated that the absolute number 1 choice in terms of votes would automatically be chosen and the ballot came across as more of a suggestion box than a poll. Even in a hypothetical scenario where Cloud was chosen from the ballot but he only received like 50 votes, he'd still be a valid ballot choice.
It's because of Sakurai bias!![]()
I'm aware but like I said a few artistic liberties wouldn't hurt, and I'm quite sure smash can bend the evolutionary rules for Pokémon again just as they have before (Mega Lucario Final Smash but no trainer to mega evolve him, no mega stone, no lucarionite, similar situation with Charizard), if it can't work at least my first idea still has some meritYou are aware that Lycanroc can't change forms, right? >Game FreakI'm aware but like I said a few artistic liberties wouldn't hurt
I was in a similar boat. I was like "They're both awesome, but neither one would work, and will never be in Smash."Ohhh, hype tiers? Fun!
The "You plesantly surprised me" tier. I admittedly was on the boat of "These two wouldn't work/would be boring in Smash", but they both surprised me with their unique mechanics and how fun they were. Pac especially has become my absolute favorite character to play for fun. Hope they stick around.
Mega evolution is meant to be temporary though and so it's perfect for a final smash. There's absolutely no changing of lycanroc forms in game and it's really out of character. It's probably going to be dusk form with colors refrencing day and night forms.I'm aware but like I said a few artistic liberties wouldn't hurt, and I'm quite sure smash can bend the evolutionary rules for Pokémon again just as they have before (Mega Lucario Final Smash but no trainer to mega evolve him, no mega stone, no lucarionite, similar situation with Charizard), if it can't work at least my first idea still has some merit
I kinda expected Pac Man given Namco's involvement, but just wasn't seeing what he could bring to the table. Ryu I just thought would be basic and boring as hell after hearing him leaked.I was in a similar boat. I was like "They're both awesome, but neither one would work, and will never be in Smash."
Eh, i'll try too.On that subject I'm sure it's been done before but I haven't seen in a while;

By Isaac, do you mean Golden Sun Isaac or Binding of Isaac Isaac? What would your reaction be in the hypothetical scenario where there was 3 characters announced for E3 via a trailer but they were the Ice Climbers, Rex and Isaac?
Golden Sun. I'll clarify that in my previous post.By Isaac, do you mean Golden Sun Isaac or Binding of Isaac Isaac?
Really depends on the execution of the character's movesets because I am quite neutral to the latter two. What would your reaction be in the hypothetical scenario where there was 3 characters announced for E3 via a trailer but they were the Ice Climbers, Rex and Isaac?
"Yay."What would your reaction be in the hypothetical scenario where there was 3 characters announced for E3 via a trailer but they were the Ice Climbers, Rex and Isaac?
Excitement, because if Isaac can get in, there's hope for Tiz, Solaire, and Hector, all of whom I really want in Smash but none of whom really have a chance of getting in based on Sakurai's past patterns. What would your reaction be in the hypothetical scenario where there was 3 characters announced for E3 via a trailer but they were the Ice Climbers, Rex and Isaac?
Ice Climbers: Veterans that I have emotional attachment. I'd be pumped (though very confused about why did they get their own trailer). What would your reaction be in the hypothetical scenario where there was 3 characters announced for E3 via a trailer but they were the Ice Climbers, Rex and Isaac?
Agreed.I loved all the Smash 4 newcomers.
I would be happy for their fans, if anything, and pleased that the Ice Climbers returned. What would your reaction be in the hypothetical scenario where there was 3 characters announced for E3 via a trailer but they were the Ice Climbers, Rex and Isaac (from Golden Sun)?
Would be a bit of a downer tbh, never cared for ICs, I'm not interested in Xenoblade and Rex is widely expected anyways, and although Isaac would be a cool addition he's not 'headline name at E3' material. Underwhelming would be the word to describe the scenario. What would your reaction be in the hypothetical scenario where there was 3 characters announced for E3 via a trailer but they were the Ice Climbers, Rex and Isaac (from Golden Sun)?
Isaac alone would make me excited honestly. What would your reaction be in the hypothetical scenario where there was 3 characters announced for E3 via a trailer but they were the Ice Climbers, Rex and Isaac (from Golden Sun)?
If Sakurai really wants to make a quad Lycanroc playable, believe me, he'll find a way to make it work. He's not gonna stop and say, "Golly gosh! I completely forgot that Lycanroc can't hold items! Guess we gotta completely scrap that idea and pick someone else now."Mega evolution is meant to be temporary though and so it's perfect for a final smash. There's absolutely no changing of lycanroc forms in game and it's really out of character. It's probably going to be dusk form with colors refrencing day and night forms.
(Also it transforming doesn't help the forms that can't really hold items. It's an issue but not something Sakurai can't figure out if he wants them to be playable)
As long as Sakurai doesn't get too outlandish with his movesets, I don't think Game Freak really cares. Brawl Lucario wasn't even close to how it was depicted in the games. There was no special "aura" mechanic in DP and the Final Smash was completely made up.>Game Freak
>Artistic Liberties
I had a good laugh. But, I remember that Game Freak are rather very protective for how Pokemon appears in Smash-
Icies: Nice, they deserve to come backWhat would your reaction be in the hypothetical scenario where there was 3 characters announced for E3 via a trailer but they were the Ice Climbers, Rex and Isaac (from Golden Sun)?
