Bullet Bill: Is there any chance there's another space at your fest? Crabman might be able to give me a lift down
definitely. Would be great you see you + play you :)

I ought to remind everyone that there is plenty of space at mine as I have the house to myself.

What are the rules on controller modding? Are you allowed to disable buttons? If so would it be legal to disable only the trigger part of the R button?

I've barely been posting on here thus the lack of hype because hype is centered around me....I want to go to Ben's thing but i've been busy lately and don't know how to book stuff and can't be bothered unless someone holds my hand and helps me out with it tbh lol.

MASSIVE HYPE, really though we need to get some motivation going. Whos going to this Thursdays brawl tournament in Croydon. http://www.facebook.com/pages/M-and-M-Games-Croydon/356173244095 for information starts at 5:30 as usual. Bad news is I probably wont be able to enter seeing as I finish work at 6:30 but I'll be passing through once I finish.

Progression on trying to get more people involved in the scene has been going slow but I'm back on it! 20th is confirmed so thats a start. I'll start broadcasting this asap. What are the fees saying this time? same/different?

Follow us on twitter @SmashBrosUK ya'll (someone please post this link on the first post) http://twitter.com/#!/SmashBrosUK

i would assume that is banned. I swear if you do that it like makes you automatically l-cancel or something I remember reading while looking at old mlg melee stuff.

I'm so confused as to what that is asking? Making it so you can't light shield? or making it so you can't normal shield? :)

please explain :)

Nothing as simple as removing something can make you auto L cancel

L or R has to be pressed in a certain window to be L-Cancel so you can't make a controller which auto L-Cancels unless you do some hi-tech shiz where L or R is pressed automatically after a certain time window of you pressing the jump button but then even that would mess up because of different characters falling speeds.

Apparently J3ly took out the spring in his L or R and no-one really cares that much about that, so I guess you could do it....but I think at official tourns (European Tourns) people might pick up a fuss....but not London Monthlies...

Making it so you can't lightshield, it would only register the click part.

On normal controllers you can just hold down R when you plug it in, but my trigger is completely busted so however far you hold it down I still get stuck lightshielding somehow :/

What Prof said, most people wouldn't even notice to be honest lol, but if we're getting serious about it it's probably not allowed and it would be up to the tournament organizer if they want to do something about it, at a little tournament I don't anyone would be that horrible lol.

I personally don't think it gives that big of an advantage by removing it so I don't have a problem, light shielding can be done easy enough with the light shield trick on all controllers so it doesn't really give an edge there. Maybe makes wavedashing easier? Not sure, probably just different.

If anything a disadvantage is obtained as you will now have to use both L and R to be able to do everything including light shielding. Many Brawlers who play melee have no spring in one or both of there trigger buttons as there is no light shielding in that game so there is no need for the spring, so it makes things is a little easy is the general consensus. As far as I'm aware its fine for Brawl as you gain no advantage from removing the spring(s).

Light sheilding is very useful in many situations....so I won't be doing anything which takes away from that, BUT of course people have specific reasons which they feel necessary to do it which is good for them...I just personally wouldn't do it.

Also I haven't been playing that much once again lol....played once since the tournament....so when I come and win I can be like 'Lul, you went to America, played the best players IN THE WORLD....I stayed at home, played Call of Duty and Roy Dittos when I was actually playing smash, and still won the tournament'

Im teaming with Alpha Dash again, so I should be winning doubles again, nothing spesh, the norm....

I wonder if VA is coming to this, prob not, cos I will show him how I am the best Team Partner in the UK and that's a hard reality to face in public.

Small controller edits like removing springs from shoulder buttons are fine, macros (like a waveshine button or some bs) are obviously not allowed lol.

for brawl, removing the springs is legal in all events, but thats it. the only reason is because lightshielding doesnt exist. so im not sure what its like for melee

also, i should be bringing a few people again this time, my buddy PDM, maybe shlurpie
i might dabble in a bit of melee after the brawl tournament

Tristan: Dude, no-one gives a flying **** if you remove your springs rofl

Aaron: I came like 33rd at the tourn there lol
I got knocked out of winners by a pretty scrubby falco which was annoying, and then out of losers by a falcon who was a lot better than me (I have no idea what he was doing there in the bracket, he usually gets like 10th-16th ish lol)

I basically do jack all here for the most part, I do some touristy things mainly just after I arrive and just before I leave, but in between I'm just staying with my grandmother who lives in what is basically the Japanese equivalent of Orkney island so I just chill all day lol

I would never use that gay removing light shield tihng. Just ****ing powershield normally it's free as ****. Also you obviously do not lose lightshield as you have the other shield button and holding shield + Z gives free lightshield, that's how I used to do it for that edge guard **** on marth.

and lmao at the idea of you and....Alpha Dash...lool....beating me and anyone. I'd happily MM you with a lvl 9 ganon.

fuzzy, something to make note of, there are loads of other events going on on the 20th, for example, theres a free capcom event literally down the road
im jsut saying, a lot of brawlers wont be coming to this, you might want to do a last minute cancel to save yourself maknig a loss on the event
just saying
